Desalination has limitations. They cause the water around the plant to heat up and thus changes the ecosystem. They also suck energy. There's some progress - especially with Isreali companies - but most in Australia and all in Hong Kong have been shut.

But it is very hard to get an accurate calculation of its yield because the company pays a fixed rate dividend of 22 cents per share PLUS a variable dividend based on (cash flow?) each quarter. Last four payments: Dec 2023 0.77 Mar 2024 0.44 Jun 2024 0.35 Sep 2024 0.44 annual div: 2.00 Extremely unusual for Yahoo to actually have the CORRECT dividend figure! This fluctuating dividend likely discourages and decreases potential individual stock owners from investing. … Because these wide swings push the share price mostly lower the last two years. DVN’s all-time high price was 124.36, but that was LONG ago.
