Mad Dog 2 on 3DO using Game Gun
Managed to get to the end fairly easily, but i can't seem to beat Mad Dog on this version.
Using the ODE makes it play just as quick as the laserdisc version.

Using the external ODE i just got for 3DO, these ALG shooters are HUGELY improved, almost zero delay when shooting enemies now compared to disc. This has also improved gun function significantly, it appears to work perfectly now.

Level 2 complete, still using the default bike which makes it difficult to win, but that then makes future levels easier as the other riders don't upgrade as high.

Full play through using the Game Gun. The video quality in this version isn't overly great, not terrible, but it is made a fair bit easier at times by the lag switching between video tracks. Played on an RGB modded Panasonic FZ-10

A much better run when the gun works better!! The fault isn't with the gun, tested 4 different guns with the same result. Seems these games need a good reliable read on the disc or it'll make odd things happen.

I love this game, but it's so damn hard to finish. level 5 is insanely hard, just making it to the finish line is an achievement!
@@RetroGamesBoy78 it is hard after level 3 yes, after playing this for a couple hours today i think the 3DO version does have some advantages over the Saturn version, i'd have to go back and try it again on 3DO.

Rgbdrv lcd board driver, or composite?
@@mariowario5945 no mate this one is composite, done a very long time ago when i first found out a back up reversing camera screen would fit in there.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan looks really good for composite tbh!
@@mariowario5945 yeah mate it's not terrible really!! The screen has 480 lines resolution, so it worked out well in that regard
Check the ground
@@ag6371 fixed it right after that, the issue was not the ground. It was the signal lines being cold joints
There’s something wrong with the time in this, it’s too fast to be US. Did you change the kph to mph in the PAL version and forgot? Lol.
@@EasyRightMaybe i don't know how to change it, would make it a lot easier. There is two revisions on US, and three Euro
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan I can’t remember either, think you had to do it on controller 2 or something. The US timer should be around 7 secs or so slower than the PAL times here. Fastest I found on the net was 2’58”47 for US version, I only just beat it last night by -0.05, no way is there another 7 secs left.
@@EasyRightMaybe yeah i thought your times were very slow on your US runs, i used a Japan console with a Fenrir tonight and revision 1
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan NTSC version times are just slower. It’s probably a PAL ISO just labelled wrong, with the kph to mph changed. Maybe the Fenrir is booting the wrong version somehow.
@@EasyRightMaybe that could be it too, although i was running it at 60Hz, my Japan disc is certainly slower on the timer though
Is this the Barco Cine 9?
@@mouse7327 yes it is 👍
A couple of excellent runs there, into the 2’51s is superb! I like how the PAL version plays better than the NTSC version, it feels a bit more trustworthy in the turns to me. Just staying in 4th gear works pretty well for it too. I will try to respond, but you didn’t leave me too much by the looks of it. The Green/Pink car looks like it could be the car for Advanced, can’t wait to try it. This is the fastest time I have seen on video, great work!
@@EasyRightMaybe thanks! I have been faster, but that was more than 25 years ago. Need to remember how i did it all, and get used to the controls again! I have done laps in the 40 second bracket on the Euro version, but the USA and Japan versions are not as well polished as this is, the handling is better and it is less glitchy than the other two.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan I have no doubt we will work the best strategy out between us and help make each other faster in the process. Stellar effort already though. I'm happy just to play PAL as well, excited to see how far we can take it.
Is that amount of play normal
@@JoeHerman-r3h absolutely not, should be almost none at all.
Just came back to comment saying this video inspired me to pick up my Sony G70 a couple years back. Got it setup and been using it a good deal recently. Cheers mate
Good stuff, the G70 is a fine machine 😀
My gauge cluster randomly flashes/resets. Sometimes it will come back on and be fine, other times it shuts off indefinitely, what does this mean?
Bad connections between the two boards inside. Bad solder joints is common.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan thanks for the quick response! how would I go about fixing something like this?
@@teamairsoft1005 open it up and carefully remove the top board, check all the connections, the outer most pin is the ground pin, and you can solder a wire from the last pin to the track which corrects most issues.
for this set up do u literally just need a ps2 and a rear projector? that it?
Yes, but this is a Barco Cine 9 CRT projector, which in this setup is a front projection system. Must be a CRT projector.
Another thing worth noting about the Super Typhoon is it's lighter than the original, only by 50 grams or so, but lighter none the less. The Typhoon II is the same as the Super Typhoon. This video was shot with some half charged Eneloop batteries in there, which may have been a bit down on power, i tested with the original Taiyo 9.6v yellow pack (the original from 1989!! Still works great!) the fans all spun up quicker, the lift was stronger, and the performance was even more outrageous compared to the original. I think with the larger fans transplanted onto the original Typhoon and a stronger lift motor, the original would go even faster than the Super Typhoon. The two share an almost identical body.
this is awesome, I want a CRT projector :D
It's nice someone can allow to play the arcade version at home in any TV All i could afford was getting the pink gun to play 2 players
It won't work on just any TV, that one has been modified to have an RGB input.
@@CaseTheCorvetteManreally? You need RGB to get it to work? Alao you're right on the part that it won't work on any TV, tried Lethal 1 on a Sony wega and after one minute the gun won't work anymore, but in Lethal 2 game works 100% and i don't have to calibrate the TV I think Lethal 1 is very outdated and old school than the secuel
@@lunitaproductions8290 it's an arcade PCB, they only output RGB.
Really cool. Would love to get one of these for LightGun games specifically.
What size screen is this in 4:3? Also for throw distance, how many feet back are the lenses from the screen? It looks great by the way!
Thanks. No idea on size, that screen is 120" 16:9. Projector was 3.4 meters back from the wall.
Beautiful convergence
Thanks!! I always have convergence as dead accurate as i can, i hate mis-alignment!
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan Yeah I get what you mean! I'm hoping to mount my CRT projector soon and want to make sure I can get it dead-perfect if I can 🤞
How did you set this up. The only way i see is to buy the system. Ill like to have more games
Set what up? I plugged the PS2 into the CRT projector using RGB, then play it like normal.
I ordered a refurbished cluster for my 84 and when i plug it in and turn key on i have nothing iit wont light up only thing working is turn signals

How much work hour red, green, blue tube, Cine 9?
About 4,500 hours on green and blue, 6,000 hours on red
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan Do you know? How long the life of the tubes, without loss of image quality?
@@CaseTheCorvetteManTell me please. What is the minimum distance from the projector to the screen? I have a small room
@@Fighter-tube i have a set of tubes with over 23,000 hours on them that are still working fine, although they have some minor uneven wear.
@@Fighter-tube depends on the screen size. You need to find a suitable projector in working condition to buy first, you really want two complete working units because if one fails you're done.
Amazing game. Best crt projector!
Do you have to stand like that for it to work?
No, there was too much stuff in the room at that time. I was further back than it looks in the video.
3’15 is rock solid after 10 years, well done! 😎
I found an old video from back in 2012 i did on the PAL version, that was the last time i played this! ua-cam.com/video/gWVlra4HP9g/v-deo.html
It should be noted that the image is not that dark looking when viewing it directly, this is just how the iPhone seems to record it because the bright scenes are very bright and the screen is over 9 feet wide. I am recording this from almost 5 meters back.
Good to see you are still making gaming CRT projector videos!
Thanks mate :)
I would love to see a video from you about your Barco 9 Crt Projector. How long do you own it and did you have any problems with it and so on. These Crt Projector Videos are so incredible rare on youtube because almost nobodys still has one of these fine machines.

I have an ‘85 doing the same thing! Going to try and clean contacts…. What did you do with yours? 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
This wasn't mine, i repair lots of them. It was bad solder joints on the connector that goes between the two boards. If it flashes and resets it'll be more than just the ground pin.
@@CaseTheCorvetteManmine does the turn signal thing only, if I use my turn signal the whole dash flashes.
@@gabelofi you have a bad connection inside the cluster somewhere, and it could be a few of them on that connector between the two boards.
Great vid, we need more retro gaming + crt projector vids Corvette Man!
Cheers mate :)
Please tell me will the projector project the picture from the 3 metr distance or it needs more space(4-6 metr)?
Yes, but at 3 meters the image size will be smaller. It depends on the lenses used as to how far back it needs to be for a given screen size.
My dad's boss invited us one day to his house and i played with his son who had this projector tv, remember it was gigantic 60". gta sa for PS2 looked great. Can you try vice city or any other gta?
No, i'm not interested in those sort of games. They're in very poor taste.
Any special setup on the projector?
No, nothing special about the way it is set up or calibrated, it is a CRT projector and calibrated correctly.
Someone made a comment asking a question but it is gone, and i'm not sure why. My appologies to that person!! :) Their question was "does this lightgun have a camera in the barrel?" Or something close to that, as in the Sinden gun. The answer to that is no, it is a Guncon 2, completely stock standard, it works the same as all other CRT based raster detection light guns. There is no camera. If there was a camera, it would track the screen regardless of colour, you can very clearly see it is only able to track when blue is present in the image.
so cool !
Nice mate
Nice vids sir! Maybe a film on the 909 setup? Cheers!
Thanks :) There is an older video from some time ago that i made that shows the Cine 9.
That's really cool, well done :D
Thanks mate, i just did a couple more with Virtua Cop Elite Edition on PS2 that are uploading now. It all works great, will be much better when i have my new games room finished so i don't have to stand as close!!
Great Video Case ! Whats the best way to tell if you have a booster leak ? will the brakes act funny ? soft pedal etc ?
If the booster shell is cracked like this, it will not affect braking much if at all, the rear half of the booster is at atmospheric pressure when brake pedal is applied. If the break is in the rear shell half, the vacuum leak will be there only when not braking, if the front shell half is cracked the vacuum leak will be there at all times. If the diaphragm is split, the booster will not work, and with no pedal applied it will not affect engine operation. When you brake the pedal will be rock hard, and have no assist, and you may hear a hissing sound under the dash as air is sucked through the booster.
What for a TV for Gaming would you Recomment? Model? I a bit Interesst because I have Play this on the Arcade. It was Nice!
I have no Experience with Projektor. Only with Crt TV. Can you say it is better. It seems the Picture is not so as the Crt TV has. Or what can you say?
That makes very little sense to me, i don't know what you are saying there. The picture is exactly the same as CRT TV, because it IS a CRT. The only difference is the size and the sharpness, given this CRT is electro-magnetic focus and not electro-static focus it is significantly sharper than most CRTs.
@@CaseTheCorvetteMan Hmm...But for me, it is a Different TV Technology because the crt tv has a Massiv Front and by Crt Projektion has more Empty when you get of the TV but you say it is the very same Art of Technology? My Original Question is, I have a HD Crt Philipps with a Hdmi Input and has a very Greate Picture I say, much Better than Flat TV. Have this Projektor TV also this Picture? Or what you say? Because Im little Interest in this! But for me...Projektor Crt has not so good Picture as the HD Crt. But what you say? 😊
@@BeatemupMaster It is the very same, it has 3 large cathode ray tubes behind those big lenses, and works exactly the same way as a direct view TV set. A rear projection TV is also identical. The image quality from a CRT projector will depend on the make and model, this is a Barco Cine 9, and is one of the very best projectors ever made, being able to display resolutions from 640x480 all the way up to 3200x2560, it will easily display 1920x1080p, and will also quite comfortably display 2560x1440p without any problem at all. This CRT projector has 4 HDMI inputs, and 2 RGB-HV inputs, it is true multi-sync, and can take a huge variety of signals from anything old or new. The capabilities of this CRT against your Philips are night and day, i have one of those Philips Matchline 16:9 CRT direct view sets, and as good as they are, they have nothing on this projector. Not even in the same league.
