Russia's Kursk Submarine Disaster - On This Day 24 Years Ago. On this day 24 years ago, Russia’s Kursk submarine sank following an explosion during naval exercises in the Barents Sea, killing all 118 personnel on board - a tragedy that became one of the biggest stains on President Vladimir Putin’s early rule. The explosion that led to the sinking was traced to a leak of hydrogen peroxide that c...

What Is The Problem With The Russian Aircraft Carrier? Russia's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, has not sailed since 2017 due to ongoing retrofit issues and accidents. Built in 1995, it was already outdated compared to American supercarriers, using petrochemical fuel, a ski jump deck, and carrying fewer aircraft.

Why are Pirates Looting WWII Shipwrecks? There's a new breed of pirates searching the seas off the coast of Indonesia and Malaysia for a uniquely 21st century version of sunken treasure: scrap metal. These deep-sea scrappers are dismantling sunken World War II warships for cooper, bronze, and steel. A single bronze propeller can be worth as much Rp 34 million-per-ton, according to a report by t...
How Difficult Is It To Sink An Aircraft Carrier?

How Difficult Is It To Sink An Aircraft Carrier? Should a missile or torpedo strike the hull, voids inside the ship allow for warhead gas expansion. Plus, because an aircraft carrier is so large, it would take destroying most of its watertight compartments before it starts to sink. A scenario that, while not impossible, is unlikely to occur.

HOW DOES AN ANCHOR REALY HOLD A VESSEL?
Переглядів 7573 місяці тому
HOW DOES AN ANCHOR REALY HOLD A VESSEL? Anchors on large ships are used to hold the vessel still by providing resistance against the forces of wind and currents. When a ship drops its anchor, the anchor digs into the seabed, creating friction that helps prevent the ship from drifting. How is it possible that a small anchor can hold in place a tanker or a dry cargo ship weighing tens or even hun...

She was never built as a full aircraft carrier, she was officially designated as a Aircraft carrying cruiser not even classed as a full blue sea ship. Also the narrator is wrong about the Chinese carriers...the last two are full carriers, one I think 076 is nuclear powered & both have electro-magnetic catapult systems, which neither the US, British or French carriers have, I suspect this upload is quite old & obviously out of date. !

Just one problem - the ski jump is not the older technology, the catapult system is! The Royal Navy developed the steam catapult at the beginning of the jet age when the new naval aircraft became too heavy to launch themselves unaided. (The rotters even used worn out Spitfires in the early trials, catapulting them into the sea!) The RN then invented the angled flight deck to allow both launching and recovery at the same time along with the mirror landing system (all three were then adopted by the US Navy). The ski jump was developed purely for the Sea Harriers to allow them to make a rolling take off meaning they could carry more fuel and weapons than taking off vertically. The Sea Harrier's undercarriage was not robust enough for catapult launching.

The Russians used the kuznetsov as a floating power plant for too long and wore out it's engines. So low and behold when they actually go to use it for it's intended purpose in Syria in 2015 it barely manages to make it there, with copious help from tubgoats.

Literally a lie in the first sentence of this video, the newly built Fujian carrier is a CATOBAR and doesn’t have the ski jump

The sr71 top speed is not limited by its engine. It is the airframe. The wings will melt. It has warning sensors inside the wings. At the melting point the pilot is warned to slow down. So the top speed is defined by atmospheric conditions. The colder and more dense the air is the higher it can fly and faster it can go before melting. The wing design was made to expand under heat. But it can only go so far.

It should be clarified that the SR- 71 was only the final version of the original design. A-12, then M-21, then YF-12A then the SR-71. The A-12 could do most of the things the SR-71 did, only a little faster. Many of the official speed records were set by a YF-12A, not the SR-71.
