Une deerhound pas très partageuse qui aime manger confortablement installée sur son canapé. La cuisine, très peu pour elle !

Attention, c'est un peu gore ! Vous pouvez mettre le son à fond, vous entendrez le bruit des attaques du lézard (c'est ce qui avait attiré mon attention, j'étais pas sur la scène de crime !)

marie. My wife and i are thinking about getting a scottish deerhound (if we can find a pup). 13 years old for Twiggy! wow. Can i ask what you mainly fed Twiggy thru his/her years? I have always loved irish wolfhounds, but could never bring myself to get one, because of their extremely short lifespan. It breaks my heart losing pets. But i recently found out about them, and their longer life span, while having close to the looks of an irish.
Hello Twiggy left us at the age of 14 years and 7 months. Two of my Nanou's brothers left when they were 13 years old. But this is really exceptional, a question of bloodlines (what country are you from?). I feed mainly with good quality kibbles sometimes mixed with leftovers to make them more appealing. I believe that the AVERAGE longevity of the deerhound in France today is between 9 and 11 years. The deerhound is not an Irish wolfhound in reduction (there is sometimes little difference in size), it is more a question of weight and flexibility. The deerhound is much lighter, more agile and faster than the IW. It is probably more reactive than the IW, both breeds are very endearing dogs.
I was at the dog park one day with my German Shepherd and there was a Scottish Deerhound there who wanted to play. It came up to my dog quickly then ran away, wanting to be chased, which my dog was more than happy to do. The Deerhound ran in a big arc around the park and my GSD, although very fast usually, couldn't catch it. Then my dog reasoned quite quickly that there was no point in continuing to go in the same arc as the Deerhound and did a sharp left hand turn in a straight line to intercept it. She caught the Deerhound and they both collided in a big puff of dust as they tumbled on the ground. Both were fine afterwards and both were surprised at what had happened.
Then your dog is ready for coursing! She has learned to hunt and take the shortest route to catch her « rabbit"! Fortunately they didn't get hurt, in the middle of a race it's sometimes terrible.
They move the way the Irish Hounds should !
If that squeaky rabbit ever lives he will need a wheelchair.that dog broke his neck to many times to count

To figure out that the handle opens the door, and then to figure out how to manipulate the handle to open the door to get inside, is an almost human thought process and understanding/awareness. It had obviously been paying attention to the process when humans opened it, and could differentiate a sliding door from a normal swinging door, which it most likely was familiar with as well. Although I suppose that most higher-order animals regularly make decisions on this level in their lives in their natural environment, but when they apply their intelligence to the man-made props of our human surroundings, it surprises us a little. Either way, that was impressive.
. . . and you can tell by they way he hesitates and looks around that he realizes he is committing a no no. That is a high level of awareness of the situation, not to mention the problem-solving aspect of what the dog did to get inside. It makes me wonder if Lassie really DID understand what Timmy was saying. . .

Whoever said that deerhounds weren’t smart?! Certainly not me!🤣🤣 My deerhound could pull a sandwich out of a rather complicated fold-over style sandwich bag & still leave the bag perfectly intact. Deerhounds are “a most perfect creature of heaven” & I pray when the time comes, that mine will be waiting for me there so I can see her once again.
Chacune de mes deerhounds s'est révélée très astucieuse. L 'une attendait que l'on parte du travail pour aller se promener seule en ville et dans le bois à côté. Elle avait trouvé un chemin en sautant en passant par la rivière et revenait toujours avant que l'on soit de retour. Nous ne nous en étions pas aperçus, jusqu'au jour où elle a été aperçue par un proche, alors elle a filé direct à la maison et faisait comme si rien ne s'était passé. Elle jouait aussi au foot avec notre fils et jouait parfaitement son rôle de gardienne de but ! Une autre se sauvait aussi grâce à un stratagème assez élaboré. Quand mon mari mettait ses chaussures pour se rendre à son travail, elle le suivait en prenant un autre chemin que celui qu'il empruntait pour aller jusqu'à la voiture de sorte qu'il ne ne la voyait pas. Elle attendait qu'il soit dans la voiture et se positionnait alors juste derrière celle-ci dans un angle mort et passait ainsi le portail électrique avant qu'il ne se referme, puis elle partait à l'opposé de la voiture ! Nous avons mis longtemps à comprendre... Après sa petite balade, (1 heure tout au plus) elle venait aboyer au portillon à l'opposé du portail garage, pour que je lui ouvre.

Vos deerhounds sont très marrants et merveilleux😂 Les deerhounds sont très et intelligents et espègles mais c’est pourquoi je les aime!😆 Aussi, je veux vous dire que je ne suis pas française. Ma fille a écrit ce message parce qu’elle fais des cours français pour le lycée, alors la grammaire n’est pas parfaite. J’espère que vous pouvez comprendre ce message!😄
