New wheels and tyres for the Alfa Romeo 156!
Managed to grab a good deal on some GTA 17's. Fancied a change and also because I needed new tyres anyway.

Will a new ECU fix the Alfa?

I install a new Ecu for the Alfa 156 after finding out mine was faulty. With vary degrees of success!

Hello Guys, today I'm showing you my Alfa 159 tbi. Just a brief overview with more videos to follow!
A walk around my new cheap Alfa v6
Переглядів 5292 роки тому
hello, in this video I'll be talking about my new purchase of an Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 Sw! Hopefully more video's to come on this car and my other car, an Alfa 159 tbi.
Creaks in the suspension are more than likely the upper wishbones, easy to replace i can do it in a couple of hours for both sides
How did you fix your ECU, I asked many local garages here and they said it's not fixable, you should have a new one.

Hi, from where did you get flat steering?
Hi Matt, I got it from a chap named Tomczyszyn Witold on the Alfa 159 Facebook page. He's based in Poland and makes them, I paid about £250 all in 1 year ago. I'd highly recommend it!
@@adamwithcarsThank you. Really appreciate. Love yr videos
hey i’m looking to swap my 220hp 520d e60 to 1.9jtdm 16w SW, is it worth it? it’s perfect spec with red interior and a lot of extras
I had a black one with red interior and it was gorgeous. Absolutely loved it!
Christ you talk a lot
Where can I buy cars like this from overseas? Is their a site that’s trusted regarding dealerships or anything?
Hi there, I have a 159 TI 2.2 Sedan. My question is did you need to modify the Gulia wheel set to fit your car? and are the 19 inch. Cheers
Have a joy ride of your lif3 !!!!!,!,!!!!!
I have the same size ,Selespeed 225/45 R17 ,and I dont have any problems ,it is "ordinary" 1.8 TS SW...The drive like a dream, steering feel is excellent in short and in long bends, feedback from the road also.Greetings from Serbia...
Dope, wondering if bigger diameter 17 tires could fit without rubbing?
Got a black 2010 1750 Tbi six months ago, 100K on the clock, been great so far, just needed a new battery and oil filter housing (as the small plastic valve broke inside it which was an absolute swine), it's been re-mapped to 240bhp (stage 1) so goes really well, really want a set of those Giulia wheels, what are the width's of those on your car ?, i'm unsure whether to go for 8.5x19 all round or staggered 8 fronts and 9 rears.
Hi Adam, great video. Can you tell me where you got your flat bottomed steering wheel from please?
Hello Stephen, I got it from a chap named Tomczyszyn Witold on the Alfa 159 Facebook page. He's based in Poland and makes them, I paid about £250 all in 1 year ago. I'd highly recommend it!
Adam, thanks for the reply. I'll look him as your wheel looks fantastic. Thanks again.
Owning an Alfa is only possible with Multiecuscan. Read your fault codes. Coil packs are knackered.
Io ho la 159 sportwegon tbi downpipe e mappa e ti diverti davvero con 250cavalli!!!!
I've thought about a remap often! What's the clutch and gearbox wear like?
Is this petrol 200bhp? Does it eat a lot?
Yes its the 200hp engine. It gets about 24mpg (UK) around town and will do 35 on a good run. Not ideal but I do drive enthusiastically quite often and I always have the auto climate control running.
I just bought a 159 and i ordered 17" guiletta wheels like yours! What size are yours?
Congratulations on the purchase! What spec did you go for with the car? Mine are 19" Giulia QV wheels.
@@adamwithcars Thank you! It's my first car which i bought a week ago. Alfa Romeo 159 1.9 JTDM 16V is the model (150 Hp). I've only driven it twice so far, but it's a pretty great automobile, and I enjoy everything about it. I now have 205/55 R 16 factory tires, but I'll switch them out after the car is finished being serviced. I ordered 17" of the giulia rims quadrifoglio. Now i'm contenplating i want winter tires or all-season tires. What do you think?
Какой номер ошибки появляется?
No error number appears with the scan so I ordered a new ECU. All installed now but I'm having battery issues I think I have a problem with my alternator....
@@adamwithcars Hi Adam. Where did you get new Ecu?
I need a 156 V6 wagon in my life, a bit more interesting than my Passat... but probably nowhere near as reliable?
If it's a diesel Passat then you'll probably find very few cars that are as reliable as that! That being said I'm sure once I've spent several thousand getting this shed of an Alfa up to scratch, it'll be good....
If cuts out every now and then and multiply code foults charge the crank shaft sensor
Have the fuel pressure checked, as well as the injectors.
Someone working on an 156? Subbed :)
Alfisti persempre 🍀👍
I’ve subscribed so keep the videos coming. I’m a fellow 156 V6 owner. Agreed the 156 is a nicer car than the 159 but still like the 159s. I wouldn’t go bigger than 17s wheel wise and if it was mine I would keep the 16 inch Teledials for comfort.
Thank you mate, I've been subbed to you on my personal channel for a little bit so it's cool you found this video! I'm going to keep the 16's for sure, just need to do some touchups with the paint and it's look cosmetically good.
@@adamwithcars nice one thanks did the sub. I’ve committed to doing at least 1 video per month for 2023
Such a nice looking car
I have a 2010 2.0 jtdm ti sportwagon and it has been a brilliant car. Motorway cruising is very relaxed - 2000rpm at 70mph, drop it into 5th to overtake and all the torque is there. I've owned it for the last 4 years and really enjoy driving it. Nothing quite like it on the road.
It really is a fantastic car, always gets compliments. Yours looks spectacular in red, I do love the stromboli grey but the red has got to be the best!
@@adamwithcars Your car looks great and those Giulia alloys are sweet. What I like is that even though these cars were introduced back in 2005, they still look amazing!
Absolutely brilliant video, you had my laughing especially about the fuel gauge! 😅
Thank you that's very kind! The fuel gauge genuinely does fall at a rather concerning rate 😂. Wouldn't have it any other way though as the V6 in this car is spectacular!
hey bro! a nice alfa you have and so do i, model year 2007 jtdm manueal which is purely ocean black. it’s normally 150hp and 320nm but mine is 185hp, 400nm with a software stage one. not just a car, romeos are the greatest.
That sounds fantastic I really want to get myself a 1.9 and get stupid performance numbers out of it!
@@adamwithcars 1.75 tbi is best version of that car besides v6 that from what i heard aren't that good build, even so they are american
Choosing between a alfa 159 TBI black and a ford fiesta ST MK7, the Alfa has the wow factor but the ford the reliability.
It's not just the reliability (the Alfa is just a reliable as similarly sized big cars of the same age) but it depends on what you want out of a car. The Fiesta is most definitely the car to get if what you want is a fun time where you can throw it around country lanes. It's will also be far cheaper to fuel and maintain, however they are also a dime a dozen... For me I like to stand out a bit! The Alfa would be more suited to you if you wanted a bigger car that is fast but not so agile. It does handle well, especially the Ti, but it will never beat the ST. Obviously I'm bias towards the 159, but the choice is yours.
My tbi has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned in 44 years of motoring! Beating Mercedes, Audi, Mazda and Honda, not to mention Ford, Rover, Triumph and Austin. It has sailed through every MoT with only minor advisories such as flickering led bulbs. Not what I expected after owning a Giugiaro Alfetta GTS in the 1980s, which was a rusting disaster with a leaking sunroof giving cold showers on rainy mornings, but Alfa have - at last - sorted that reliability problem since the 159s and Guilias began to roll off the production lines. I love its performance, especially after remapping, and as a precaution, upgrading the M32 bearings and end case.
@@michaelfoster5577 I've Benn tinkering with the idea of a remap as I feel the car is a little bit underpowered. The only issue is the bearing upgrade is an expensive job and it'll only be worth it if the car is truly better after.
@@adamwithcars I used Celtic Tuning in Newquay. They have a mobile service too. The power went from 200 to over 250bhp and torque was also greatly improved. The bearings and end case - fitted in 3 hours - cost £600 in Sheffield, not too huge given the cost of repairing a failed M32! Overall, the 159 has been a delight for 7 years now.
@@michaelfoster5577 £600 is a very very appealing number for that sort of upgrade! Thank you mate I will look into it.
Wow that looks awesome!
I have the TBI in black 2011 plate ,had it 3 years now and apart from a few niggles it has been reliable.
Yes it's the same you'd expect from any decently sized 10+ year old car!
Enjoyed your video. I have a 159 JTDM 16v Diesel also. Fabulous cars. Have driven BMW all my life and currently have a very nice 520d 2016. Although a great car, it doesn't get me like the Alfa.
The looks alone make this car stand out from the rest! Do fancy myself a BMW one day though, my dad had a 1998 7 series with the V12 when I was a kid and I just loved it 😍
Nice :) looks good
Egual at my car 156 v6 2500 my model (berlina =not station wagon) this very strong busso motor much speed 245/kmh.
