How to Make Trench Crusade Modular Trenches and Terrain also Great for Warhammer 40K - Part 2
How to Make Modular Trenches and Terrain for a Giant Trench Crusade Game Board. In this Part 2 video I continue to add additional details and textures to the trenches and terrain. Using a mixture of materials and techniques these trenches really start to come to life. These trenches are all hand made using insulation foam, corrugated paper, coffee stir sticks, and skewers. But once they are painted and weathered they will look right at home in any skirmish war game. Even though I did create this board specifically for Trench Crusade gameplay, I added additional board space so that it can also be used with large scale Warhammer 40K and Warhammer Fantasy. I also have a link below with a PDF of the basic sizes I used to create my trenches incase you would like to make a set for yourself!

    This is looking fantastic, well done sir ⚡⚡⚡ - Suggestion, perhaps dremel out shallow pools on the base board to fill with level resin, to maintain the rained in wet look inside the trenches

    first thing, amazing board! I really want to make one like you did, but I had some questions. how come you use distilled water + IPA on the gravel/grout? wouldn't using a spray of glue + distilled do a better job of locking in that first layer?

    • @SKSHobbyWorkshop
      @SKSHobbyWorkshop 2 дні тому

      Thanks! The IPA is what breaks the surface tension of the grout and stones. Then by adding the PVA glue and water after it seeps in much better. Otherwise the grout wants to absorb just a glue mixture in a way that can make it ball up or not fully saturate especially if it is a little thicker in areas. If this happens just the top surface can get a good soak and underneath can still be powder

      I think it’s close, but a more bio friendly version. Doesn’t contain a lot of additives that might mess with other products being applied. And no fragrance which I like because others that smell stink up the shop and give me a headache. But you can find it at just about any hardware store

    really like the concrete part of this terrain - its a shame that trenches are implicit with trench crusade because man... a big pile of mud is just impossible to not be ugly. I think i'd make either a set of rolling hills with freshly dug trenches or have them be long abandoned and overgrown if i get into this system... or maybe just set it in the the desserts of the iron sultanate... anything to avoid the mud.

    • @SKSHobbyWorkshop
      @SKSHobbyWorkshop 5 днів тому

      First off thanks!!! I use distilled water for a couple of reasons. Number one it’s better for brush bristles especially when you use natural hair brushes. Number two distilled water won’t have any additional additives that can be found in tap water and can make the product have issues. Especially products like sculptamold that is absorbing the moisture. And lastly our water here is pretty hard, so distilled water takes away that issue. I just buy a gallon every so often from Walmart
