One of my firsts hikes coming to Guam. I followed the Jeep trails for a bit and let’s just say there were no white blazes. Plenty of views and mosquitoes though! I had a whole waterfall to myself for hours. Did you end up with any more solutions for your hair? Always looking for more tips and tricks for natural hair on long hikes!
Hey! I actually gave myself a buzz cut shortly after this was posted. My hair looked like what it did in this video for most of the trail. I started with the two French braids but it made my hat fit weird so i just did a bun thru the back. The oil I picked up helped a bunch. My hair was super soft by the time i cut it lol I felt like my hat was making it break off and have more fly-aways. That was the annoying bit, so maybe a good head band and being prepared to do a good detangling session in town? Honestly it is what you make it. No one cares what you look like. Cutting it off was one less chore for me to deal with.

Yes, its my usual go-to but I will say I sprayed Deet a little too close to the strap and it left a dotted spray mark where my watch eventually broke at.

Opening up there homes be cautious it could be a good way to end up missing.
I stayed in many strangers' homes on the PCT - always trusted my gut about it before accepting a ride or an invite. It actually restored so much of my faith in humanity!

On your breaks take off your shoes and socks. It helps to dry your feet and socks. Also Ininiji socks. Sorry about the spelling. Lol

We are watching. Sara, my wife and I. Don't stress about videos and how good they are. Just record as you want. They will be memorable. Hope your current blisters are better. Get those thin synthetic socks for the inner liner for your feet. It really works.

In your kit for the PCT you're😮 using a different stove. Why do you now prefer the MSR stove?
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. Somehow the thread to the stove wore down so it wouldn’t stay on my gas canister. I stopped in hot springs and had to replace it. The outfitters only had the pocket rocket. I will say I liked how stable my pot felt on the pocket rocket vs the BRS. Only noticed it when I was stirring other then that no big difference

Lift 'up' on those gates to open them wider 🙂 A thin men's dress sock as a 1st layer under your tough wool outer layer will prevent most blistering.

I love your glasses! I’ve been thinking about getting a pair of lightweight glasses for backpacking trips. I’m currently using a really old pair with an outdated prescription. They work but aren’t perfect. Happy Trails! I hope you have a safe and beautiful journey!
