Nisi JetMag Pro Filter Review
In this video I review the Nisi JetMag Pro filters.
These are a round magnetic ND filter system used for creating long exposures.
I am testing and reviewing the 82mm Landscape Kit.
This includes a 3.6 and 10 stop ND + CPL.
To buy in Australia
www.deancooperphotography.com/jet-mag-pro-kits.html
NB: Vignette testing
Nisi state that you can run 2 filters and no vignetting on 15mm Canon and 16mm Sony full frame. It will vary a bit with different cameras and lenses, but use that as a guide.
I tested it on a Fuji XT-3 with a 10-24mm lens at 10mm, this is equivalent to 15mm full frame. I actually ran 4 filters with no vignetting.

I think it's probably a really great hit Dean. I'm probably still gonna stick with my square ones and I have a simple theory with the square ones is that there is no vignetting now I know they say there's no vignetting in thes. But every circular filter I've ever had has darker corners I've got the Nisi filters but the 100 mm ones. And yes, it's a touch slower setting it up but to be honest I carry a little bum bag that sits on my waist which I have the filters inside that so I can quickly change them easy enough. I think it's a really good initiative by Nisi
Mr. Cooper, I just thought I'd return here to thank you for this information as it was invaluable to me for making my decision. I have finally received my tripod setup. It is based on the AR-3204 legs and the VA-5x head. Living so far, I had to make the purchase blind but I couldn't be happier with the products and how they all fit together. 🙏
The comparison of color charts and real world samples was exactly what I needed thank you!
good stuff
Thanks
Not everyone can afford a Mac... so for me this video is not useful.
Dan, its all about Photoshop, doesn't matter if you are on windows or Mac
Great advice Dean, well explained.
Thanks for watching
Brilliant. I have been looking for this exact answer for monnnnnnnnths!!!!!! Thank you so much and subscribed
Thank you so very much for this absolutely excellent video you made to show us Sirui W-2204 owners how to take apart and rightly clean and assemble the water-proof tripod! Highly appreciated and valued! Big help with great advice! Stay blessed! Greetings from Sweden!
Today I figured out how to use that extra twisty bit on my Innorel L54.
Thank you for this excellent video Dean.
Glad you enjoyed it, cheers
Hi, do you notice any glare using this filter?
Hi Bob, haven't noticed any glare. cheers
Brilliant Dean. Lovely pics and a really nice presentation. 👍
Thanks Tony, great that you enjoyed it.
interesting that you say it's Arca Swiss, as my M 2204 was a TY plate, looks similar to an Arca in dovetail, but NOT to be confused with one.
Hi, it is certainly Arca Swiss on the W series, cheers
Thank you sir for this awesome tutorial. Just the information I needed to correctly assemble the monopod. 👍
You are welcome
I have been puzzled about this forever. Thanks for the clarity.
Any time!
Great video thanks, just what I was looking for. I have just ordered some of the grease from you - they don't seem to stock it in Bunnings, only the deadly spray version!
I saw one review saying it flexed a bit, making long exposures blurry. have you had that issue?
I have been using mine quite a while now. I'm using a hefty GFX Fuji camera and Yes there is a small amount of flex but it certainly has not effected the sharpness of my images. Flex is not play hence not an issue for me. Hope that clears it up for you. The flex is due to the design of this style of mount not a fault as such
@@deancooperphotography2896 Thank you for getting back to me, that did help
Brilliant idea to add white border for IG. Thank you for sharing!
You are always warned that if you use a raw file the histogram is not that accurate because it is created from a jpg image. That is true but if you use a raw file and make lots of shots you will learn how to read the jpg histogram and do some compensation to make it work after processing with your raw file. Usually a tiny bit of histogram clipping will be handled with the high resolution raw file. Just keep shooting and learn how to handle the composition for each composition.
yes and another trick is to dial down your camera settings that create that jpeg!! The fuji cameras are very good at this and mine is very close to the end Raw!!
Lovely images! Can I ask what time of year you were there please?
July 2023
great video, well explained
Glad it helped
Excellent video, patiently described and explained unlike some other videos where speed seems to be of the essence.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video, very easy to follow and explained each of the alterations in a way I could understand
Great to hear!
A quick note for anyone cleaning the metal bits; they're not steel (some may be but not all). Most are coated aluminum. So don't make my mistake of being easily distracted and after placing them in the vinegar, come back later and find the coatings been stripped and now they're pitted and brittle. On the plus side, Sirui does sell replacement parts...
This has been the most indispensable accessory to my dslr for over a decade. In recent years I replace the neck loupe holder with the belt retractable lanyard so it no longer gets in the way of the camera. Perfect combo.
Just ordered one! Wanted a shimoda first but didn't like I had to buy a camera cube separately which makes the set extremely expensive
Another top tutorial, thanks Dean
Thanks Phil
It was really informative video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Dean, Great Tips.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching Levin
Thanks Dean. Great video. looks vey useful.

A superb tutorial Dean thanks for sharing
Thanks so much
Great demo. Thanks for sharing that Dean.
You are most welcome, thanks!
Tree wins😁
😂I think you are right
Great video and great images particularly having been to most of the locations.
Glad you enjoyed it and have been there, thanks Jon
Fabulous images, love hearing how you captured them
thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it
You are a true artist. Thanks for sharing.
So nice of you, thanks so much.
Thank you. However, I resized my landscape-shaped painting to 1080 width and Instagram still cuts off one side of the image. I'm unsure how to fix it. Any suggestion?
Hmm that is odd, what are the exact dimensions of the image you are uploading??
@@deancooperphotography2896 Hi, thank you for writing. I'm posting small paintings. some are squareish and some are horizontal. I'm now guessing that I should crop the image to a square. using 1080 pixels for the width whatever the shape. I kept losing the sides of the images.
Marilyn, there should be no issue with posting a sq or horizontal image, so I'm not sure why it is cropping them. If you make a horizontal 1080 wide then the height is lower so IG shouldn't crop, can you email me an image at deancooperphotography@gmail.com and I will resize it for you. Are there some cropped sample on IG that I can see?? what is your IG handle. cheers Dean
Great review. I have one and am very happy with it. Very comfortable for me. ( 6'3" 18" torso ) . The need for adjustable fit positions are not necessary. The price is absolutely justified in my opinion. Don't have to buy extra cubes, pouches on hip belt, smart water fits in shoulder strap pouches, all the things you'd have to pay extra for with the other brands. Also have a Shimoda and the Tenzing is that and more.
Thanks for sharing Jim, I'm loving mine, it is definitely one of the best bags I have had. Thanks for watching and commenting
I have to hand it to you Dean, you really are the Seascape Master!!! Beautiful images and video.
Thanks so much Levin, if I put a book out I'll call it "The Salty Lens" LOL
Hello mate, are you still using this tripod? I'm wondering how it's held up compared to the other newer tripods you've reviewed.
Hi, yes I'm still using this tripod, it was my main tripod for about 3 years, I then built "The Beast" and that is now my main tripod that I use. the W2204 is now about 5-6 years old and still gets a lot of work and is super reliable. The main thing is to wash it if in salty or dusty environments. In the time I have had mine it has been stripped twice for a full clean and relube, once was to do a video and the other time I had lent it to a client who laid it on the sand, so it needed a clean. I mainly use it now as my video tripod and it is still going fine, I highly recommend them. If you wanted to look at the Beast tripod I built, here is the video: ua-cam.com/video/YAh9yqeY_tQ/v-deo.htmlsi=EdBGPpFhfOuVPzev Cheers and thanks for watching, Dean
Hi Dean, Is there a CPL filter available in this system?
Hi Larry, yes there is, I forgot to mention it when I re did the intro, I will put it up on my website, cheers
I have them up now, www.deancooperphotography.com/nisi-swift-fsnd-kits.html Only the 82mm and 95mm available at the moment, 49mm and 62mm are coming !!
Have you any idea where to purchase “Skims”Plastic type washers, allowing for tripod legs to operate for the W2204???
Sorry i don't, thanks for watching
Just brilliant, mate! Great compositions. I was looking up as we are travelling to KI in the next few days.
Thanks so much, enjoy KI
I followed your instructions and the logo looks great as a brush. However, when I move it to the transparent layer and try to place it, it will not stamp onto the layer????
Hmm not sure what you mean. I always stamp it into a new empty layer, this way it is transparent and can be moved any where on that layer.
Excellent! I've spent ages looking for precise and clear instructions on thism- you nailed it!
Glad it helped!
hi thanks for the best movie, I'm wondering this ET2204 might be able to convert into monopod. Please be advised. Thanks
Not from memory
Nice and clear video. I have a different model (KN3).. how do you clean the rubber feet with retractable spikes? It is not possible to remove the feet from the legs, and the twist knobs are full of sand.
give them a good soak in warm water
Excellent video there Dean, just recently stumbled across all the reviews for this thing. This is a total game changer. I have been watching loads of these videos. I will definitely be getting one of these as soon as I can find a UK supplier. The Atoll gets rid of so many annoying limitations involved with using L -brackets. Ideal for my larger DSLR.
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic review. I'm SOLD!
Glad to hear it!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
