How was the FMM process? Did they just glance at your passport and snag the fee or did they scan it into their computer?
Well when I finally got back to the border it was pretty easy. I got bribed for 150$ to get through. My van was over some weight limit that complicated it. No computer. I would get the fmf online before you get to the border
Excellent video thank you so much. Your empathy for the people is great. Be fair and kind they are poor people here especially in comparison to Canada and the USA
Mexico has very modern highways, such as 57, the Pan-American Highway and many more, which are some of the most important in North America. In the 3 countries of North America, more products, goods and money move than in the entire European Union.
We're planning to do Peru Hop and came across your video. Thank you for this information. And mannn ... love the wisdom and the end of this video. Thank you for looking after the locals. For those privilege enough to give, it's the way to go. good on you mate!
Thank you enjoy every minute of it
Very helpful! Thanks for sharing your experience!
What Month were you there ? We are doing a cat bareboat mid January. Hope there's winds!
April
Hi, great video. Where did you provision?
Fajardo and a little in culebra
Mexico isn't Canada, you can't just drive through without the proper knowledge. You gotta know what you're doing when driving in Mexico.

Desafortunadamente tu comentario se quedó corto falta total de compromiso de Perú hop con el turista son mentirosos, chapuceros, tengan cuidado con esta empresa nada confiable
Great video! We are from alabama and will be doing this hike mid September. I don’t have one of those ropes as I have never needed one. They seem to be pretty expensive, especially if this would be the only time I would ever use it. Is the rope very important or necessary?
It all depends on your tolerance to exposure and height. I walk up and down it with a kid on my shoulders
You should make more videos.
I have a lot more to make but I'm building our house now and I'm buried. Bar6builds on UA-cam if you're interested. I'll be back with more Peru panama and Mexico.
Stand aside. Don’t block the view.. and don’t mumble.
When
The key is to bring plenty of $20 dollar bills. Tell them that's all you have. Speak a bit of Spanish to them. Show them you love their people and country .... and that's easy to do because the Mexican people are amazing. The military and cops and EVERYONE is a family oriented person in Mexico.
The best thing we can do is stop paying bribes. Just ask for the ticket they won't give it to you
@@travelwith6589 thank you
Loved the video. I had a great childhood and have rafted a lot. Growing up I never did a trip like this. I now raft 50+ days a year. I can't imagine how much more I would be rafting now if I had taken trips like this as a child. You are a great parent. I hope there are more of you out there. And yes we all hate dams, but who doesn't like buliding them in a creek as a kid? Priceless
Thanks. Just got off the river again for my oldest last trip at home. It wasn't easy keeping these kids outdoors but absolutely worth it
Great tips, especially sitting away from the bus stickers. But my lord why did you bring such huge horrendous luggage???! Super inconvenient on the bus and those stairs I would think. Loved your take on how you ended the video. Perspective is key and yes, Just GO! 🌍 ✈️
This video was our fourth month abroad and our third country. We had paired down a lot of luggage by this point. I personally used a single backpack
thank you for making this video. I came across it trying to find out more about Peruhop but your message at the end is invaluable and is something I think everyone should hear before travelling to another destination where opportunities we’ve had are harder to come by ❤
You honestly don't get it on a one week Vacation but if you immerse yourself for weeks you really start to understand what they are going through
Great video. Honest and informative. Best part is your advice at the end.
I appreciate your view on bartering and not trying to beat down prices when people are just trying to make a living. Thanks for the review
It took me a little while to figure out their true living situation
Thank you so much for your video! However, you weren't prepaid and just crossed initially without knowing the risks not having the permit and then you got nervous... Obviously you didn't do your research ahead in time...
I did prepay fir the imf. The problem was the permit for my van because it was over some weight limit. I asked them ask they said just ho
Does it get fully booked? Like say I want to get from Cusco to Puno but wont know until day before when I wanna leave Cusco, is there a chance it is fully booked?
Sorry for the late response. Less than 24 hours would probably be hard to get on. They like a couple days notice so can make sure they have enough room
We enjoyed watching your UA-cam, we are going later this year, but not by bus thank you
Was the 2 hour Puno tour enough? it's 20-30min to the islands so that leaves 1 hour on the island itself? The bus schedule says arrive Puno 6am depart to Copacabana 8am what if the tour is back after 8am?
Absolutely. The short tour is pretty touristy but if you can swing the long tour it would be a much better experience. Not sure on timing
Excellent report 👌. I have wanted to go here for years 😕. Its our 30th wedding anniversary in February so we have decided to go for it ☺️
Awesome but I'm warning you that you will get addicted and all your money will go to travel. Good for you
@@travelwith6589 Thanks. ❤️
Thank you so much for this review. Very helpful and I love the ending❤
Enjoyed this, sorry you weren't well. I've been looking at some Hoka shoes for this trip, are they just Speedgoat or Hiking?
Well spoiler we didn't make it to machu Picchu. Farmers protested and blocked the road and tracks. I didn't hike a ton but I do have Hoka and they are awesome
That’s a lovely video. I really appreciated your message. Reassured me with my Peru Hop choice. But I will confirm my choices. Thank you.
Thank you
What border crossing was that?
Santa Teresa near El paso

Great, honest review.
Wow that’s incredible. Was it worth it? Would you do it again I’m sure that questions been asked thanks for the video.
After spending close to 2 months in Mexico I had it all wrong. I was scared to death that day but never felt any danger after that. The media got me scared. I can't wait to go again. Mexico is amazing and the people are even better
@@travelwith6589 That's how I felt in NYC. I'm from bumfuck Illinois and Newark and Stanten Island was a whole new world. I never wanna go back lmao
Glad that you enjoy your visit to my hometown. Day of the dead is a very important date for us because is not only to remember our ancestors but also to remember that we are here for a short time and to honor those who came before us we must live the best life we can. now the kids on the catedral is a especial mass for the day of all saints (november 1st Dia de los Inocentes),}when whe remember the children who have died and the second day celebrates all deceased adults.
Thank you. I loved Guanajuato. I was a little nervous about being respectful to the local people on their important day. It was amazing. I really miss some elote from the street vendors. Beautiful city
I like your video. My daughter and I plan to go to Peru and Bolivia next year and I think we will take Peru off. Not bargain in this country, I am agree with you. And your last sentence, if you want.. Go. I fond off. Thanks a lot.
Have a good trip
Sounds like a very entitled American for the first 8 minutes
that said - the rest of the video was great.
I agree we are spoiled Americans. I Made the video for travelers and therefore I wanted to point out the good and the bad.
Score: 1.750 (out of 10.000)
That's a little harsh
Thanks for this will definitely do the PeruHop all the way to La Paz. What month did you visit? Thanks
January. It was cold and rainy in the mountains
Thank you for your video
Did they scan your passport in Mexico?
Nope
They were just interested in the vehicle permit
The perfect time to go to Cusco is in June. They have so many festivities and you will see a lot of the culture.
hope you feel fine after all
It was a brutal week. Following that on recovery we went to lake Titicaca at 12500 feet. I was sucking for oxygen
@@travelwith6589 great to hearing my friend
you had covid? fuc oh fart luck bro, but my best wishes
Good video, my friend.
We backpacked Coyote Gulch a couple times about 30 years ago. Saw only half a dozen other people there each time.
Ahhh the good old days. My first trip was in 99'
May I ask does Peru hop pick you from your accommodation or do you have to make your own way to designated boarding points? If it’s the latter, where can I get information on the meeting place in each city?
Sorry for the delay. Yes they pick you up at your hotel. We only paid for the taxi from the airport to our hotel in Lima. Peru hop was great
That looked amazing hope you guys had fun
When you coming on a sail trip?
Looked so awesome we’d love to
❤❤❤
Sounds like you were freaking out for not reading and knowing the rules ahead of time, for a second I thought you had ran into cartels or something. I'm glad it all worked out for you and your family.
I was a scared nieve American. After 2 months in Mexico I don't have any worries. People are great. Just like the USA there's places you don't go
Very thorough. Thank you this looks fun!
I did it last week.its amazing even on my 15th trip
What crossing was that?
What psi do you run on this with the van?
I don't get to crazy like 15-20, lbs
What EXCELLENT advice at the end! They are grateful for our generosity. We help them survive. I live in Ecuador, and sometimes get the "gringo tax" or get "gringoed" which I don't appreciate, especially since I'm very generous, as well. Blessings!
It's a shame the richest people barter with those who might be struggling. I hope all goes well for you
@@travelwith6589Nice that you gave extra to the ppl in RURAL/small town Perú that are really just trying to eek out an existence. However, you are a tourist, and you don't live in Lima or Quito. When you are RESIDENT, be it from the US or a European-descent Latin American, the price goes up on many services, especially:cabs (no meters), home repairs, car repairs, hair salons etc. The phrase "gringo prices" happens for a reason.
