I was going to see 15 years, I turn on the TV and I come across Mark Knopfler and Éric Clapton who are having fun with their guitar solos, Elton John on the piano, Phil Colins on drums and the incredible Ray Cooper on percussion. ... Incredible musicians for an unforgettable concert...
Message to Eric Clapton I created a cover of Leyla acoustic I promote Eric's music will,Eric help me financially I bank at dollar bank in butler pa my name is,lee oesterling
My first, best love. Always Clapton (yes since the early early years) but I will also never forget the chills the first time I heard Sultans of Swing .......... They're so complimentary to each other (let's not forget Elton John on keyboards on this one)
I finally understand why Clapton is a HOFAMER 3 Times. It’s because of songs like this. Lyrical poetry, strength, the ability to write songs and albums like this. Thank you for everything sir. Adcockmatthew @icloud.com
I agree w/ReCarrie; prejudice for Dire Straits, but every time these 2 friends and music icons get together, absolutely great music & guitar work results. Imagine they repress their egos to play rythmn for each other. See them together at Wembley Stadium, 1978, doing a 11 minutes version of Sultans of Swing (look at how much fun they are having!!)
I couldn't agree more w/ ReCarrie. Compare this to the UA-cam video of "Sultans of Swing" at Wembley Stadium in 1978; roles reversed w/Lead & Rythmn guitars. They seemed to have so much fun together, and a hell of lot of respect. No egos. God music was so good then. However, MK is better on Lead!
What year?
Mid to late 80s
Anyone know which concert this was?
Princes trust concert I think
Coolidge’s outro …Knopfler’s Going Home ….
Why have Elton John there if he doesn’t get to do the piano solo part?
A beautiful time. 2 of the best
The best version
All of then great show😊❤❤❤❤❤
Completely drown out the piano on the outro. Piano player got 2 bars and it’s the best part of the song 😂
I’m having trouble figuring out which pixel is who
I don’t Need to live all my life to know which is the Song i Love the Most. It’s this one since 10 years
Not often you can enjoy Mark Knopfler jumping while playng.. 🤓

When you write a song on heroin and then perform it on coke 20 years later.
Mark really doesn't get enough credit for his performance here. His version of the iconic riff is amazing
Exactly like all the other guitarists who have played this song live since 1974
The camera didn't like Mark.
Elton John looking like he's going to meet you in a parking lot to sell a dossier of government secrets

Eric was totally on! Enjoyed to see how Mark and Nathan were enjoying Eric's solos!
Really one of the best versions! Full emotion; intense solos; elegant outro; turning every stage member on!
Is that Danny Federici from the E Street Band on organ. Looks and moves just like him. At the 13 second mark you can see him.
No his name is Alan Clark and he toured with EC from 1988 t0 early 1990
Love Eric's tone here. Sounds a bit raunchy :)
Duane Allman blessed this song with his dove tears.
I love this song my name is Layla but spellt like this Leila

Not only one of the greatest guitarists ever, he can sing too. Thank you for everything, Mr. Clapton.

Am I the only one disappointed that EJ didn’t lead the piano coda?
Wena manolenta
Nowhere near as good as the Live Aid performance. Not as fast either.

May anyone be kind enough to tell me what is the ending tune? I know it is definitely Dire Straits' song.
Nope, the instrumental part was always in the song. In various collections the song was cut short.
