Do you cut them off to use from the top down? (The top being the last-added head of garlic?)

Brilliant, the only video I could make sense of. After several tries and undoing I finally cracked it. From this experience I worked out my long stems were far too thick to braid so I simply cut them with scissors to reduce thickness by half. This worked really well and I now have two magnificent braids. Thank you so much.

Have you had any trouble with garlic spoiling if you don't cure the garlic before braiding? Great video and beautiful garlic braids!

I’d like to know this as well… I just harvested my first bit of garlic planted last fall and so excited 😆. The other two videos I watched had a lengthy “lay out and cure/dry out” before braiding… if that’s not necessary would much rather go on and braid and hang because I’m in a small space!

I braid my hard neck few days after harvest that way the stem becomes more flexible. I don't have room for curing. Never had problem spoiling in zone 4.
