Beth & Macoos & Luna Homestead
Canada
Приєднався 5 кві 2022
Welcome to our little corner of the world! I'm Grandma Beth, with two loving brown Labradors, Macoos and Luna.
This channel is all about getting back to the land. I've spent many years raising 5 children and growing organic food to sell and eat. My specialty was heritage varieties of fruit and vegetable seeds and plants.
When I'm not busy with homesteading projects, you can find me and the dogs exploring the great outdoors! We love taking trips to nearby lakes and forests.
Starting over on a small plot of land, With Macoos and Luna by my side, I've been working tirelessly to build a new life for myself on this 28-acre property.
So if you're looking for inspiration and motivation to live more sustainably and self-sufficiently, then please join me on this journey!

Chicken Fricassée my style
"Chicken Fricassée - A Homemade Delight"
Today, I'm sharing my version of Chicken Fricassée. It's a classic dish that's made with love and care, just like everything we do here on the homestead.
I love cooking from scratch because it allows me to use fresh ingredients from our garden and to create something truly special for my family.
Macoos and Luna were happy to be my taste testers, and everyone loved the Chicken Fricassée!

"Moving Bed Back to Shed & Winter Slowing Down" I've moved the bed back into the shed, so now Macoos and Luna and I have everything we need to live comfortably under one roof: sleeping, eating, cooking, and even a toilet! porta potty. As winter stretches on for another four months, I'm feeling grateful for the simplicity of our life. There's no better time to slow down and appreciate the little...

"Beef Stew in the City" I took Macoos and Luna on a road trip to the city to make some homemade beef stew with dumplings. I was excited to use some of our fresh garden potatoes and carrots in the recipe. The result was delicious! Everyone who tried it loved it, and I'm so glad I could share my home-cooked meal with them. #homesteadinglife #beefstew #dumplings #gardenfresh

"Building a Kitchen Counter and Back splash in our Homestead Shed" like the other video but shorter and with out cooking In this episode, I'm working on building a kitchen counter and back splash in our homestead shed. I've chosen to use white pine boards for the counter top. As you can see from the video, I'm not exactly the most skilled carpenter, but it's all about functionality over form fo...

"I'm taking a short break from working on our homestead projects to enjoy a peaceful walk with Macoos and Luna in the forest. As we stroll through the woods, I'll show you some of the beautiful sights and sounds of nature. The warm weather has been lovely, rain is on its way. After our walk, I'm heading back to cook up some leftover BBQ chicken from yesterday's dinner with noodles for lunch. Ne...

"Kitchen Window for the Shed - A Cozy Addition" I'm so excited to share with you the latest addition to my homestead - a beautiful kitchen window for the shed! It's been a labour of love, but it was worth every moment. And as I work on installing it, Macoos and Luna are keeping me company and adding their own special brand of joy to the process. I decided to put in this window because I just co...

"Garden Seeds in Review: A Year in Reflection" 2024 It's hard to believe that another growing season has come to an end! As I look back on all the garden seeds I bought, grew, and processed, I'm reminded of just how much work went into creating the delicious meals we enjoyed throughout the year. In this video, I'll be sharing a review of all the garden seeds I used, from the heirloom tomatoes t...

I love standing beside the woodstove. It’s the best.
This is amazing
I’ve never done a foundation. Otherwise I could do the rest I think
thank you, just seeing your comment, learning so many new things.
I think you live nearby
@@Nancytoday I can see Watson's corner's cell tower lights blinking from my land, North of Lanark.
@@GrandmaBeth2dogs that is so cool! So can I
Looks so nice! Pat on the back for you!
I remember putting a window in once. I did it wrong, but learned. I love your little mom stove. I had one once.
@@Nancytoday The woodstoves called good cheer and it was manufactured in Ontario.
I'm always impressed by how you manage to 'get'r'dun'. 👍😊
@@SamCanada1 thanks 😊 🙏

Nicely done! I believe seed saving is possibly the most valuable skill one can have.
@@TheBackwoodsHermit So many benefits, save money, it's fun.
The bok choy under the snow is still very good! We saved a lot of seats this year too. It’s nice to do that. I usually save the squash seeds, but I don’t have the best outcome with squash. Perhaps the season isn’t quite long enough however it’s long enough for other people in the neighborhood.
@@Nancytoday Interesting that squash doesn't do well for you. It's such an incredible staple crop that's fairly easy to store and save seeds from that it would be nice to have them. Hopefully they start adapting to your conditions so you can fully enjoy them. Carol Deppe wrote that Sweet Meat Squash makes a better pie than pumpkins do. Was able to score some seeds and gonna try them out this year. With any luck, I'll go into next winter a little bigger around from delicious squash.
🥰
Window looks great! Pups are loving it! 🎄
love to watch your dogs play. They understand so much of what you say. Like go get the ball from mom. I hope you get your stove hooked up! I grew up with my mom using a wood stove and the food was absolutely wonderful! Love your videos🥰
thank you,
That's a very nice cookstove. Curious to see how well it works for you. I also had a tough time figuring out how to fit a woodburner in my tiny 8×16 cabin. So I built a 4×4 addition lined with cement board just for the stove so it didn't take up footprint in the small living space. Love your puppers. They look really happy.
thank you, I was looking for a long time to find a small one like this.
I though solar panels always stayed above freezing temp
@@andrewkoestl My solar panels work in freezing weather but not when it's covered in snow.
I have the middle ones.👍😊
