Longitudinal seating is a retrograde step, put in simply to create more standing room. Not a pleasant experience for the passenger having to stare at the people opposite on long journeys. The Tyne & Wear Metro is an interurban railway with some pleasant views, not an underground mass transit subway.

Not a fan of the 2 door version but still smart in the new Learning Livery. 22407 was recently sent for scrap up somewhere in Inverness and 2025 could really be the final year of seeing the MAN ALX300s in any form, along with the MANviro 200s and 300s. It's the Trident ALX400s that are being withdrawn pretty quickly elsewhere and are therefore endangered. All this net zero and reducing emissions has caused outrage, grief and heartbreak. Could do with MAN Lion's City (Euro VI) to replace the MANviros but will SNE make the bold move?

I was wondering why I haven't seen any of the streetlites in Swindon for a while. I'm glad to know these chaps got a new lease of life. The oldest one is only 12 years old. I think the buses that replaced these guys in Swindon are a few ex Salisbury red enviro 200s from 2014.

The best liveries in this (other than Stagecoach's) are GNE's Red Kite, Tyne Valley Ten and X-Lines, they clearly have cracking talent at GNE whoever is the brains behind the designs! The Super Shuttle's quite cool too and it makes the failed "Voyager" look dull and boring.

Those Western Buses take me back to when I was a bairn in the 80s but never rode many of them, can only remember riding the Leyland Nationals and the Leyland Leopard Alexander Y Types in their fleet. It was mostly the old AA [Green/Cream livery] Leyland Nationals or Mercedes 709D Alexander Sprints alternatively, the A1 Buses [Blue/Cream livery] Volvo Ailsas and Leyland Atlanteans took my mum and I wherever we needed to go as my dad was at work.

I don't know about anyone else but nothing can or will ever replace the Tridents because the Dennis Trident ALX400 (MKI then MKII) are Titans, that leave behind a legacy which only the likes of the Volvo and Leyland Olympians can equal. Tridentviros (10*** and 19*** series) are the probably the last ever beasty diesel versions around now. 😔 🙏🏻

They’ve been withdrawn most likely, not been out for a week. Was lucky enough to catch 17645 two weeks before retirement but would be happier if I caught another, the Cambridge loans have pretty worn out seats but have good performance (I rode one of them in their first duty in the NE)

Just checking that it'is the whole fleet of Voyager Private Hire vehicles that they are intending on withdrawing? I wonder what the reason was behind that decision? Hire charges and/or fees too high, not enough people taking up the opportunity or who knows?
