    Very cool setup and beautiful animals. What's the species at 1:15? Is that a Biak? That coloring is amazing, almost looks black with very dark greens. But I see Biaks after that and they look normal. WTH is that?

    Beautiful. Have you found any of the tree monitor species to act differently from each other (in general) ?

    • @reptilerevolt6581
      @reptilerevolt6581 Місяць тому

      @tylergoldstein not really; they all have individual personalities. Some are outwardly curious and trusting while some siblings that have had identical care are standoffish and less confident. Overall, when USCB vice wild caught, they're mostly curious and open to trusting you. Just gotta establish a relationship by not forcing any interaction. Tong feed food and slowly gain their trust.

    Thanks for sharing your expertise. I’m curious about the heat-pad. Is there space between the totes when they are nested together for airflow? Or is it wedge between the the totes with no space? I’m just wondering about fire risk with both side covered. It’s my worst fear.

    • @reptilerevolt6581
      @reptilerevolt6581 2 роки тому

      The heat pad is between the two totes so there isn't any potential for it to contact moisture and cause any issues.

    Beautiful animals. So they are born spotted and then loose their pattern with age or do some of the adults retain the spots? All of the examples I have seen are solid black. Thanks and keep up the great work!

    • @reptilerevolt6581
      @reptilerevolt6581 4 роки тому

      All black tree monitors are hatched with the speckling but it dissapears relatively quickly as they grow rapidly during the first year. Some retain it longer than others but it always disappears entirely eventually.

    Love these. What are their temperaments like? Can the be handled? Or too squirrely?

    • @reptilerevolt6581
      @reptilerevolt6581 4 роки тому

      They all have their own independent personalities. Some are eager to interact and actively jump onto me when I open the enclosure and others will abruptly walk away to get some distance. Overall, whether wild caught or captive bred most will become very comfortable around the keeper/hobbyist over time. The key is time + patience. That said, they're a beautiful species to work with but I mostly take a hands-off approach with them.

    • @reptilerevolt6581
      @reptilerevolt6581 4 роки тому

      Generally speaking, they are better as an animal to be viewed rather than be handled. That said, when Captive Bred they tend to be very social and unafraid and will actively come to you when the enclosure is opened.
