Good end to the tale. The estate pond looks lovely. What was the issue with pond 1? assume the clay liner was not sufficiently compacted or had a clay puddle defect?

You guys made so many mistakes. With the planting, leaving the cups on. Wrong type of plants for Crucian, With the fish, to many. No predator fish. Without Pike they will never grow big, but stay tiny due to overpopulation and never increase in height. The biggest Crucians is where there are huge numbers of Pike. The banks made wrong. The water supply from a drill hole was wrong. The new dam might be a mistake as well since there is no fish in it. I had the Swedish record on Crucian and may over 2 kgs, and spent countless of hours fishing them and also built functioning dams. One of the most important thing you need for them is a thick layer of debris on the bottom for winter hibernation and for the fry to hide in. This causes problems with oxygen levels so a major water supply is needed from a creek or spring. Also it's important that you have aqua plants that have leaves floating on the surface that they can feed bugs from and get shade. Lily's does nothing for the fish but is only ornamental. To not put pumps in that stir up the water since it can create fish death. Water needs to be clear or you have to much fish. You can't use a plastic lining with a layer of clay on top. There will be absolutely no microbial bacteria braking town the poop. Where the creek enters the pond you should have layer of gravel at least 20 cm thick with a grain size 3-5 mm that allow bottom water to circulate through. It should cover at least half the dam. Also Crucians love vertical banks and tend to hide right next to the shore. There should be parts of the dam where the water depth is one meter directly at the shore.
