SPOILERS. BEWARE. You have been warned. Again, not the most riveting episode. It left me asking this simple question. Is there anything new offered? Something to hold one's attention? What of the characters? Really tough to care when you set up a prior season cliff hanger about a character we know survived post the war of the last alliance, and assuming this is intended as canon.

SPOILERS. BEWARE. You have been warned. The first episode, not great. As for the second turn at it? Well, episode 2 of the first season also showed of improvement? Does history repeat itself?

SPOILERS. BEWARE. You have been warned. Per the title, has the dialogue choices improved? Have we seen any progress in creativity? Will this season exceed the low bar of Season 1?

Part 1 of 3. In short, yes. At least in my opinion. Whether with its historical accuracy and some decent performances, there’s something here to like and appreciate, silly beards and all. The American Civil War 1861 to 1865.

Part 3 of 3. While not necessarily revisionist, the sanitizing of history certainly surfaces. The creative liberties also lean into ‘lost cause’ mythology and to some ‘bad faith’ historical representations. The American Civil War 1861 to 1865.

Part 2 of 3. A lack of balance? Check. The omission of prominent characters from the novel? Check. Does it suffer from poor structure and pacing issues? Check. Is it a comprehensively weaker effort than its predecessor (sequel)? Check. Check. And Check. The American Civil War 1861 to 1865.

Is there anything more that need be said upon viewing this season finale? No gimmicks or odd framing this time, this last episode essentially sputters to an end with its world and plot collapsing in on itself. Will there be more to come from Rings of Power? Only time will tell...

While not a direct adaptation of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit, is there anything noteworthy or original from this underwhelming series? What ever happened to creativity and innovation whether cinematic or with narrative?

From its own universe, referring to Helms Deep or Pelennor Fields. Or if we delve into the archives of history, from the Three Kingdom era, and to somehow the American Civil War, what tactics shall General Bronwyn, or General Adar, employ. To the victor go the spoils!

I mean, honestly. There's borrowing, and then there's homage, and then there's just creative bankruptcy resorting to theft. I try to be a little 'kinder' this episode, but I do lose my way somewhat toward the end....

With all these new diversity rules, has there been any consideration made for genres where this would look ridiculous? For instance, take the historic epic. In some cases DEI simply cannot work without undermining certain subject matter. As for the Rings Of Power, it didn't fair too well come award season. And this episode does little to improve on the already incredibly low expectations set by...
