    At this point you could have it write the song, and then cover it w better fidelity. But as you say, it's a matter of time.

    Fun fact...Albini admitted not being a Nirvana fan when he took the gig, but said he learned to respect them during the recording process, but clearly the band was never his cup of tea.

    Haha I love the Jerky Boys reference Albini put in his letter shown at 4:40. "I'll work circles around you, I'll rap your head in with a ratchet" The Jerky Boys were very popular in America at this time and Kurt, Dave and Krist probably got the reference. ua-cam.com/video/5F-VQtEfbTU/v-deo.html he says it around 1:40 in this video.

    Steve Albini's attitude has always inspired me a lot and through him I learned to appreciate the quality of analog. In times of this unspeakable AI, this video comes at the right time. It's just a shame that not everyone will see and understand it.

    I don't agree with 100% of the letter, but what I do appreciate about Albini's mode of engineering is that he wanted the uniqueness of each album to shine through. Getting rid of all the rough edges usually makes things sound more generic. Btw I have bookmarked your band and I'll listen later. If you have this mentality about the creative process then you'll likely make more interesting art. I will at least give it a try.

    Albini was most definitely famous before pitching for In Utero. No, here's not Mutt Lange, but anyone into alternative music knew who he was. He was easily one of the top 10 producers in that realm at the time and absolutely no one I knew said "Who is this Steve Albini?". He was certainly more famous at that time than Butch Vig was when he took on Nirvana. I had only ever heard Gish before Nevermind and while Gish was a big album and reasonably well known before Siamese Dream, it wasn't nowhere as well known as Albini's work. We all had multiple releases from Albini in our collections. Cobain himself was directly inspired by Albini's work on Surfer Rosa, crafting Smells Like Teen Spirit effectively to sound LIKE Albini. How ironic is that?

    The lunchboxes contain the same electronics as inside a deck that gives the tone so you simply loose the faders and the analog summing when mixing in the box? Then the converters are the big spenditure instead of the deck? I mean, there is no free lunch...

    honestly, people are picky, and probably going to become pickier, and music may just become a temporary thing You might go on a drive in a hyper car and generate an album with jungle rock, jazz, rock anthem vocals xyz, trash it and never listen to it again after than Who are we to say people will ever care about musician's ? when we know most of musicianship is propaganda anyway people dont actually like Taylor Swift, theyve just succumbed to her propaganda, when her songs evidentially were a.i. generated........................

    Ai still has a hard time to do artistic stuff - it sticks to the common denominator that the industry has paved the way for. So as long as we avoid any common formula, we ought to be good! Also it's easy to spot if it is a classic band/constellation performing together or if it is the equivalent to Nilli Vanilli thing.

    I think technology such as A.I. will give birth to a "renaissance" in arts. especially in music. I don't know how, when or even if the "renaissance" is already here. The first sign of a "renaissance" could/can be: A trend in acoustic music streams on streaming platforms and maybe more people will go watch live music then before. (if its not already happening now already)

    Todays machine learnig based tools like suno just generate sound bits second for second based on probability. Unless there's real AI that understands what it's doing, there's no creative process. This means you can't adapt and change aspects of a song. So there's background music that's it can do well and personalized fun stuff. And inspiration for song writing of course. We're quite far away from a real AI. And as these tools don't understand what they're doing the sound quality will always be mushy. No wonder metal sounds best, because or all the distortion.

    AI has no creativity, if your music in on par with music a AI can replicate than youre not really a musician, as someone that makes music your just a person that has a job of playing instruments and puting together arrangements that lack creativity enoughto claim youre creating music

      What exactly would ai be ‘progressing’? In any field that is not artistically based, you would have a point. Ai could hugely progress modern medicine to make new vaccines that cost less for example. But music isn’t about progress it’s about expression. The industry wouldn’t be ‘progressed’ if every song that was played on the radio was made by a robot… is that your idea of progress? Sounds like a dystopia. Also what do you mean ‘move on’ songwriters mixers master engineers are all at risk by software like this, what role in the industry do they move to?

  • @everyonesalama4447

    yeah... its music, but not like a heart warming connection with a musician. Art should never have been about money anyway, I feel very sorry for those who will loose work, really I do, fuck this shit for those people. But artists, nothing can replace the value of human art, this is a whole other 'thing', without the elements of what connects us with any kind of art...the human. But yeah, fuck AI

  • @Chu_the_Master

    The IDENTITY of the artists cannot be easily replaced by AI. How would they sell the album? Who is the singer? What is the "name" of that AI? A product name? A human name? Will they advertise the AI as an "individual"? An "AI"? Or an AI company? So many questions to be sorted out.

    • @DuTuben32
      @DuTuben32 Місяць тому

      Most of those questions have already been answered with the Hatsune Miku mascot. There are people who are perfectly happy going to a concert with an animated artist.

    • @Chu_the_Master
      @Chu_the_Master Місяць тому

      @@DuTuben32 Yeah, so 1 AI = 1 individual artist. Thousands of us using the same AI = still 1 individual AI artist. ONE ONLY. 10 AIs = 10 individual artists. The way people make 1 AI popular is the same as how people make 1 artist popular. 1 AI cannot replace thousands of individual artists easily.

    There is one thing that AI will never be able to do: take away the joy of creating for creating's sake. (Unless we let it.) I do wonder about ownership of AI-generated music, how it could possibly be licensed for commercial use by anyone. In my experience exclusive music publishers and libraries are very concerned about these things.

    kind of starting at the same point as image AI like midjourney. Where it was not so good at first, then it gets better and people start getting actually good results. but it is always low quality(in terms of pixel resolution, the results can be stunning) and has to be upscaled for it to be usable commercially. but for getting drafts and inspiration for actual graphical artists to base their work off is viable. I assume it is trained the same way by analyzing a bunch of songs/images to train the prompts, however the issue with this is always the artists do not get compensated even if the algorithm is heavily influenced by their styles

    Ironically I went for a console because itb exclusive mixing and recording was destroying my wrist and elbow, and if you're good with a soldering iron and look for deals you can get some cool stuff. I got a $30,000 USD console for $300 bucks in basically completely dead condition and after extensive cleaning it is full functional and now I'm replacing all the faders while a much better tech is modifying the master section. By the end I'll be probably about 2 grand into it including acquiring spare channels. Its definitely not for everyone, and i don't think consoles are necessary at all anymore. But when i see some people who have 24+ of the same preamps, tons of the same outboard eq, and have an Uber expensive monitor controller and summing mixer I kinda chuckle and wonder why they just didn't get an audient console or something similar, since the price would sometimes be less and those 4816s are not very physically large or use a lot of power.
