Apologies for the wind noise. The great British Summer. Filmed 7/7/24. An update as to what work has been taking place at Chew Moor. The Bridge at Chulsey Gate Lane has been rebuilt over the last 6 months. The work is nearing completion but this video shows what is left to complete.

Progress on the project between Wigan & Bolton. Full Route from Wigan to Lostock, filmed June 2024. The pylons for the electrics are roughly half installed I reckon. Starting at Wigan, showing the pylons. Demolition work at Ince Station, the progress at Hindley, Westhoughton & the new bridge is nearly complete at Chulsey Gate. Filmed with a DJI Mini 2 SE drone.

At last, I've been searching for videos to see the progress of this project. I have one question about this project, is the OHLE being installed through to Wigan Wallgate station for bi mode trains to have an easier and convenient change over from deisel to electric from the Kirby and Southport lines?
@@jth385 I’m not sure if it’s going past Wigan Wallgate towards Gathurst etc. I will have a look that way as, weather permitting, I’m looking to film the progress at least monthly so keep an eye on the channel.
@@simonrobertrhodes I certainly will, next question is will they wire up Salford Crescent to Hindly line too...

@@stevetony6876 No problem. I’m planning on documenting the progress at least monthly weather permitting so keep an eye on the channel.
Bloody eye so i cant se why they can't put a electric rail on ground instead of over head
Direct current third rail is an inefficient outdated method of traction power supply. Power capability, acceleration and speed are all limited and it is more dangerous for track workers and trespassers, plus copes very poorly in ice and snow conditions. 25kV AC OLE is superior in almost every aspect and makes perfect sense when both ends of this route are already electrified using this method. It wouldn't make any sense to install a very small island of non-standard outdated equipment which would need bespoke dual-voltage trains.

Walked over that in 2008 ,and the Cadishead viaduct in 1997 ,never ever again.
That looks like a good waypoint project.

the biggest waste of money in wigan since forced to be part of manchester nobody voted for and now forced a mayor that nobody wanted running a forced bus service nobody voted for wigan is the new russia wigan is being forced to accept all from a crupit labour council

No date set as of yet. I think they are possibly taking the rest of the buildings down first.

It’s not finished yet, that layout is temporary. When compete, it’s going to be a 2 lane Dual Carriageway and the single lane road you can see on the right at 1:50 will be decommissioned.
yes thats true,but its 2 into 1 at windy harbour and at river wyre, the rest of the a585 towards preston is a glorified country lane, this what makes this project so absurd...the west preston distributor road is 2 lanes all the way unlike this rubbish project... @@simonrobertrhodes
@@user-es3hq5zk4e absolutely. You are correct there, I didn’t think about the others ends only the new bypass.
Its a half baked plan,I have never known a bypass like this that leaves the rest of the road a congested single lane..nobody I know thinks well of it.Your drone video which is great will be useful when its opened..@@simonrobertrhodes

This new station is great, but why not connect the track right through? All that’s happened here is the stop block that was at Kirkby is now a few hundred yards east of where it was.
