Rock of the Rings
Приєднався 20 чер 2024
What is Rock of the Rings?
It is a musical project that took 2 years on the making.
It takes the songs and poems of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and turns them into modern music.
This is a very personal and intimate project where a plethora of music styles cross over. It spans from rock to country, folk and even glimpses of britpop and metal. If there were more singers I guess it could be classified as a rock opera.
On other matters, as we are in an ultra visual era, music videos are being made to accompany the mood and feel of the music. In this respect absolutely all images are AI generated. That being said I strongly recommend just to crank up the volume, close your eyes, and immerse yourself in your own world of wonder.
Every Friday a new song will be released and it will take several months for it to be delivered, that is the scale of the project.
From the bottom of my heart I really hope you to enjoy this journey.
Lots of hugs.

The Grey Havens (Valinor) - audio only
This is it, the final song of this project, almost 5 months since the beginning. The chosen poem is the last one of the book on page 1028 of the 50th anniversary edition of The Lord of the Rings. Just 3 pages before the end.
The Ring has been destroyed along with Sauron.
The 4 hobbits fulfilled the hero's journey as they saved the Shire just by themselves.
But Frodo feels hurt beyond heal. Because of the wound of the Morgul's blade that he suffered at the Weathertop.
Frodo tells Sam that he would like to travel together with him, but to the West this time.
It is during one evening of this journey that Frodo starts singing the hobbit's walking song but with a different tune and lyrics.
To Sam's surprise they receive an answer. It is the song that people in Rivendell sings to Varda, known as Elbereth Gilthoniel.
They are not dreaming as a retinue of elves from Rivendell is joining them along with Galadriel, Elrond and old Bilbo Baggings. It is at this moment that Sam discover this will be Frodo last journey as they are going to the Grey Havens. There Bilbo and Frodo will depart on an elven ship far beyond the Sea to the lands of Valinor. As a present for their invaluable help as Ring bearers.
Musically speaking this is again a very nostalgic song. Simple and intimate with very few instruments and delicate above all on the chorus where Elbereth Gilthoniel enters into play.
It seems to finish with the farewell at the Grey Havens. But it goes on softly showing us Sam finally at home in what would be the end of the Lord of The Rings.
Then the music and the video take an unexpected twist as everything turns BIG.
For this bombastic moment I reprised the chords and melody of the very first song of this project 'Ainulindalë' (the creation of Arda).
This is the third time this chords are played being the second on Eärendil's song during his ascension to the skies. They are the leitmotif for what is divine and connected to Valinor.
To represent the grandeur of the moment a full symphonic orchestra comes into play.
But it is in the gran finale where we have a stage musical moment, not with a dozen voices but literally thousands of them receiving us in Valinor (thanks Jacob Collier).
For the visuals I made an exception and decided to use real footage that is supposed to represent beautiful locations of Middle Earth. It took some time to shoot on the desired locations under adequate conditions. I really hope you like it.
With the song and the project over it felt adequate to add a credits section where I give thanks to all the people that supported me in any way. A big hug to all of you.

Ohhhh!!!
I really appreciate your efforts! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
@@FilelioPeg sorry, this is a music and Lord of the Rings channel. I don’t know what are you talking about but feel free to explore the rest of the songs
Impresionante Carlos! Curradisima cada una de las piezas. Enhorabuena tambien al resto de participantes. Menudos artistas!
@@TriskelApps gracias!!! Mucho trabajo pero quedé muy satisfecho la verdad. Un abrazo!!!
absolutely stunning
@ybk6858 thanks very much for your comment and for choosing the audio only version. I put much effort on the videos but sometimes it is preferable to focus only on the music with a blank background and just let your imagination drift away.

@@BrethilnenMusic said and done. Thank you very much for pointing it out. I was testing the audience 😅
@rockoftherings I am always watching from the shadows.
Very nice work. It can be tough to make music of our very own no matter the mediums we utilize, it’s always fun to implement many mediums together. If there is soul and heart behind anyone’s creation I call it valid and beautiful. ❤
@@Makkaru112 Dear Makkaru thanks a lot for your profound reflections. To be honest this was the first song where I tried to add something different to the original draft (the whole instrumental section). It was very entertaining and exciting to add layers upon layers. It was like exploring uncharted territory and showed me that this project could be something more than strumming electric and acoustic guitars, something special worth spending time for. One big hug.
No había escuchado ésta. Me gusta mucho mucho mucho.
@@pelayoelgris Gracias Pelayo. Tiene ese soniquete repetitivo típico de las canciones que se utilizan para memorizar información. Como la de los ríos, la de los reyes godos, etc. Me alegro que te guste!!
I like this portrayal of Luthien (aside from hair color, which Tolkien describes as raven). Most other illustrations show her as a doll-like waif who might blow over in the first breeze. Here, Luthien has solidity and depth (in addition to being outrageously beautiful, of course). That's more appropriate for someone who embarks with Beren on a quest into the heart of darkness to confront Morgoth himself and who can exert what are basically superpowers. What a wonderful movie this story would make!
Dear William thank you very much for your kind words. I am grateful to see that we share the same vision at this respect. As you said, someone that is able to beat Morgoth is not just another pretty elven lady. Is one of the biggest characters in Tolkien's Universe. I guess who they would hire for the soundtrack if they produce such a movie ;)
This project is so wonderful, it deserves more views and likes 💚💚💚

@@BrethilnenMusic Hi Brethilnen, sorry if the description is mistaken. I am not sure which phrase I should correct. Images are 100% AI but music has been fully handcrafted from scratch in a process that took nearly 2 years.
@@rockoftherings that is what I thought
I will answer myself. I guess it is not the written description but UA-cam‘s disclaimer at the bottom. When uploading the video you can tick if audio or images are synthetic so that people won’t be mislead and think that those people and places are real. I believe it is that?
@@rockoftherings yes that thing
Sixty years ago I played my folk harp and sang a different tune to the same words....this is way better than anything I tried. Kudos and respect. The tune works, the one I did was in a minor mode because of the limitations of a diatonic harp. I'm glad you posted this, awesome.
Dear Alan, thank you very much for your comment and sharing your story. I can tell you that one of my bucket list dreams is to be able to acquire a Celtic lever harp. Their sound is otherworldly. But the ones I crave for are sooo expensive. I would love to hear your version, who knows, maybe I could give it a twist and create a hybrid between mine and yours. One big hug.
Thanks. The Sonnet harp by Musicmakers has a small frame with 29 strings but has a clear rich sound. New it's over 3k but used it can be as low as 300 bucks. Just stay away from the rosewood carved harps, new or used they aren't worth the money..bad sound, semitone levers placed incorrectly and the pins will literally unwind to flat while you are playing them. Fulsicle harps are a good compromise but just don't have the look that says Irish harp. Good luck. My first harp cost $ 300 during the 1960s, the equivalent of $2,500 today. Be sure to actually handle, examine, tune and play a used harp before buying it. A few chips, dings and scratches are perfectly fine for a first harp.
@@alanb2325 thanks again Alan for your suggestions and knowledge. As I was expecting, last time I checked a decent harp was around 3000. Will definitely have to try a well tested second hand one if I want to make that dream come true on this decade hehe. I believe some music shops do harp rental. I could go down that road just to make sure is my cup of tea before throwing thousands into an instrument. I send you my best regards.
Amazing enough said.

it is good but i reckon it would be phenomenal if you sing it with bard-like theme(?). not a complained per se but when the thought appears it sticks.
Hi theodd thanks for the comment!!! It was a creative decision from the beginning to take a modern music approach. But the options are as vast as the the sea, I guess a more bard-esque focus would have been very interesting also. Maybe not all throughout the song but in certain sections. Anyway I am glad you liked it, thanks again.
