Vintage Martin D28 1965 and Vintage Martin 00-18 1959 comparison
That's a poor sounding example of a 60's Martin D28..too thin, no bottom end or bass, too bright..possibly too thin of a pick, light gauge or extra light gauge strings used.
@@billdedrick1914 haha thanks, could be my playing too 😅 although accurate kind of a cunty comment.
You can tell he is not playing that
@@jaxonschaos5011 I’m right here man 😆
Any tab?
Cheers mate. Will try that
Is that a D28 or an 18?
Hey man, it’s a 1965 D-28
Yeah, nice👍Tony had such a unique influential Picking style and sound. 👍✨🐦
Great videos. Can you do one on how you do your bluegrass rhythm guitar. Cheers.
Sure, I’d be glad to
Can’t see your fingers!
If you click on the full length video, it’s taken at a wider angle.
@@guitarwithtom6041 I wish I knew how. Didn’t see full length video.
Here you go: Some Tony Rice licks ua-cam.com/video/wZMQ9utqJ5I/v-deo.html
I have this guitar, 1989 JEM77 FP......I never play it though, it's become a case queen due to it's value......plus I'm a Strat guy...lol
great picking man. thats an amazing sounding guitar. the baby also low key preaching
Hell yeah dawg! That's cool as heck. Amazing machine you're playing there.
Hey, thanks!
Fuckin badass shit!
Guitar is sounding sweet!
💯
Do you take requests?
Haha maybe, what did you have in mind?
@@guitarwithtom6041 There’s a few players that I’m trying to figure out how they’re playing certain licks, I thought maybe you could help.
Let me know what they are and if I have some time I’ll take a look.
That's a hot lick brother.....nice work..
Tony was a once in a lifetime artist.
He sure was :)
Tony Rice is the man!
Sure is!
Nice man. Are you a professional player?
Thanks! I’m not professional but I love playing:)
@@guitarwithtom6041, I love Tony rice and your playing of his is class
Thanks man, I appreciate that. It means a lot.
Nice
I wish I could see your fretting hand so I could learn this
Here’s a link to the video where you can see the fretting hand ua-cam.com/video/M7DWNi6bFJw/v-deo.html
Your guitar has a nice voice, very warm and resonant.
Thanks man, it’s a lovely old 1944 D18
All the same licks with gaffs, and the box is out of tune. Fantastic!
@michaelmcdonald3057 I had to find out what gaff meant…..thanks, I think? 😅
Help me out... Is a downstroke actually to the thick E string and up to the thin e string.
Yes, a downstroke is moving from thick to thin, toward the ground. Upstroke is thin E toward the sky.
Thanks. I totally learning my self. I will get it soon.
@@pauldebruyn4389 No worries Paul, good luck with your music journey. We are here to support each other. 🙏🏽
What tune is that you are picking?
Salt Creek and Whiskey before breakfast.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
hey Tom, I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I remember when you were going to teach me guitar, sadly someone else taught me but I happened upon this and I’m glad I get to learn a little from you like 10 years later!
Hey Charlotte, wow great to hear from you. I hope everything is going great in the States. How’s the fam?
@@guitarwithtom6041 things are going good, my parents are doing okay and both are working hard, I’m going to community college in January and just have a full time now until then working at a halloween store. My mum showed me the photos of pearl on Fb, she is so precious I’m so happy for you and your wife!
Your play is good. But no soul on there. You play not came from your heart. Thats huge different between u and kotzen.
Thanks for the comment Saga, you could tell all that from 20 seconds?!, wow, I’ll keep that in mind 😉
Nice! Lot of Ritchie Kotzen's licks :)
I liked the video before you even started because I also play along with the songs and I can do ~90% of the speed as best, I start to loose accuracy so I prefer to play slower, 80% or so.
Any tabs?
Yeah, a lot of this stuff is early Ritchie Kotzen. I transcribed some of his fever dream record. Let me know if you want some.
@@guitarwithtom6041 Yes of course I really appreciate that. Thank you in advance
@@guitarwithtom6041 Yes please It will be appreciated
If you want I can share my email so we can share privately by mail
Sure, I’ll send you what I have. It’s hand written stuff but should be super useful.
I wish I had that ability to solo
great job 👌👍

Who could learn anything watch him goes to fast
Thanks for watching.
Good
Is TAB available? That was super.
Hey thanks, I’m planning on doing some more videos and will include tab :)
Learn by ear. Don't rely on tabs or you'll limit your repertoire.
@@alan4sure Not true. I learned almost exclusively from tab as I was starting out and it IMPROVED my ability to learn from ear because it got me playing faster. Don't making learning harder for others.
@@bobthabuilda1525 well I know several ppl who learned by tabs and it has limited both their creativity and speed not to mention their repetoire. It stifles the ability to hear and remember melodies from what I've seen. If you can't do that, speed doesn't mean much.
Not much to say except pretty much perfect, harmonics at the end sealed the deal, video cut off too soon though. Great axe.
It’s not fair. There’s NO ONE like Richie. You did a great solo, but YOUR solo. Only one Richie and only one you. ☮️
Great stuff dude! Can't wait to transcribe these suckers. Tony was an absolute beast, I love videos like this that help give us a little more insight into the stature of his playing.
Hey, thanks man 🙏🏽
God stuff ! the Jem looks like its in good condition . I have an 88 model with only a few minor dints-great guitars!
Thanks Neil! Your Jem sounds amazing 🤩, the original year for an fp. Is it a floral or something else?
@@guitarwithtom6041 My 88 Jem is a floral one, which I'm currently finding very hard to put down ! 😀 it sounds so good & I'm very glad to still have it !
Nice work my man! Great to see Bluegrass experiencing a meteoric rise in popularity among mainstream guitarists. After all, there's a lot of "blues" phrasing and beak neck speed pyrotechnics going on in the flat picking scene, - something we all covet as guitarists :)
I have a 91 fp. That one looks more like a ‘91
Need to work on the G run...
Do you want me to work on the G run or you need to work on the G run:)?
@@guitarwithtom6041 Tom, your G run is first rate. We need to work on our G runs. Thanks for the video and hello from the mountains of Virginia, home of Tony Rice.
Looks like a 60’s D-28? That rounded headstock is a dead giveaway lol. Killer playing man! Greetings from Kentucky, birthplace of Bluegrass music.
Thanks so much Brandon, hope to make it over there one day!
How about this one: ua-cam.com/video/qjt111bnSj8/v-deo.html Thanks.
Worthless. Just showing off.
Lol thank you
RICE WAS NOT A SHOW OFF. JUS THE BEST PLAYER EVER. BTW WHO EVER HEARD OF YOU ???
Nice playing, but who's Tiny Rice 😆
Hahahaha Aussie accents are sexy even if we mispronounce things 🤣
just the best ever ! check it out. TONY RICE !
Wow... you sound what, Australian? Glad those licks made it all the way where yer at.
🤣
Hey! Thanks for the upload! Have you thought about using Promosm to help get your videos higher in the search results??
No I’ll check that out, thanks man.
