Hello great video, well done. I’ve just got diesel heater in and I’m having nothing but problems I’m now sat outside the garage waiting for them to open. I hit my wing mirror and pulled it back. Works. I tried to pull it back it’s not happening now that’s gonna cost me 300 quid then I’ve got my service due. My mechanic is flooded his whole yard it’s underwater now I have to go to another mechanic which is going to cost me probably more than what my normal mechanic does. That’s more money so probably end up spending out about £600 this week. I’m trying to get repairs on my van. So far, I found it quite easy, living in the fan off grid, but I guess being single do you learn to go without things and just not eat as much last stuff as what you would if you was with a partner I guess there are a lot of tweaks you can do as I’m finding out as I go along but I’ve been doing it for many years. Wow I didn’t know you could use them I thought it could only use them on cars as it would be a lot of power for a jackey I would be very scared to use anything electrical that’s just my anxiety I’d be fine after a couple of goes I would’ve freaked out if I couldn’t of got that thing but knowing that it could still be charging me money well done for getting it out

I’m a full time teacher too (26years now), and for the last 5y years or so teach solely online for an international private school, in fact I’m sat marking mock y11 math papers right now in my van.

I'd suggest upgrading from the extension cord. 7KW/240v=30Amps....that's a lot of current for that little power cord. Nice video, certainly handy as a back up plan :)

Who cares what you're doing...its a public service that you're paying for...charge what you like....

Why not go for a coffee and plug it in cafe

If you are taking up the charging space to top up the power bank then what difference does it make if you charge the van?

Mate off grid living isn’t easy, I’ve done it for 20 years. Unless u have loadsa money for the best equipment u feel u r just constantly paying out for fixing old stuff that breaks especially in an old moving van. I know a guy who found 1/2 acre for £1500 a year outside Carlisle, he planned on parking up there for winter cause it is difficult in uk in winter. Look for a wee bit of land to rent and park up for winter, ask your subs if anyone knows of any land to rent near you. U get good days and bad days mate.❤️🙏

Chin up chicken! You say you are a full time gigging musician, but how many hours do you actually gig in a week? Was wondering also, why you have never purchased a property especially as you have also said you have pretty good money coming in? Regarding teaching again, you don't need a room or a studio, you go to them, and charge a little extra to cover the diesel and travelling time. Really hope things pick up for you both, and make sure you stay positive. Negativity only ever turns into desperation. Rooting for you! 😘👍

Sorry to hear this mate. It is worth doing a budgeting spreadsheet and tracking everything - income and outcome - for a couple of months at least. You'll definitely identify savings and wastage. Then you'll know better what decisions to make. It's eye opening honestly. Take care xxx

Once you have only one car things will be better cost insurance road tax ect is a large outlay but yours will prob be fuel im guessingbyou get 20 mpg in your van soon goes keep at it im sure it will work out all the best donny

Where I live in Canada (Vancouver Island, BC), locals are not terribly receptive to van lifers, I found that odd since the ones I've seen have been very respectful, most park for a night and move on. However, it's the unseen van dwellers that are causing the problem apparently. Some, overstay their welcome and leave trash behind in their wake, others are sketchy and not to be trusted. I don't see the bad ones, but they are out there. I think a case could be made that a van lifer that is doing business in the town, buying from local shops and such, are entitled to park on public roads since they are, in effect, taxpayers and supporting the local economy. Good luck finding more park-ups.

if you set it up well it wont soot up. Set the fuel to air ratio in service settings and problem is solved. However, a blast now and again wont hurt it.

Self inflicted misery I'm afraid, before vanlifers started to gather in groups everything was fine, there used to be an unwritten code amongst vanlifers to only stay a maximum of Two nights in any one place and not to return for at least a week.......then all of a sudden (COVID?) vanlifers started to get the urge to gather like Travellers in little groups, and often parking up for days, even weeks on end. As soon as you start to bring too much attention to yourselves you become a target for local authorities.

This seems to be happening all over the country at the moment. Scarborough. Whitby, Lytham ST Anne's, Morcombe, Southport there all at it. Oh but they don't mind us being there in the day time when we're all spending money in the shops, pubs, restaurants & petrol stations etc but they don't want use stopping there over night. It's crazy. If people are respectable to an area then what harm dose it do.

Buy a small diesel heater so you can run it at a higher setting. Diesel heaters clog when they are run at the low setting.

Boiling the kettle & having strip washes, works OK.

Hello I have to stay in a hotel for one night. My van is in the garage getting the diesel heater fitted but some of the parts have not come in till later on this evening. I can’t wait to get the diesel heater in I’m absolutely freezing just cannot get my feet warm.😢 take care 😊

Nice bit of kit mate. Can't you take a duct from the output of the exchanger and feed that back into the cabin through a new nozzle ? I wouldn't just vent that heat outside !

You need to run it on full heat every week or so for about 20 mins to burn any build up off the inside.

Long time on low heat clogs the heater. You should run it on maximum heat for 20-25 minutes once a month to keep the soot away. Try it.

Mate I’m exactly the same get one thing done and another thing goes, now it’s the zig unit!!! It just seems to be the life of talbot owners unfortunately. I’m at the point now I’m just happy if she starts and stops but need to press the brake like Harleys lol. On a positive note at least u don’t need to pay someone to fix stuff like I do.❤️🙏
