Strangely, Sasha was not picked to go on to the second round. Nor was Bruce Liu who also performed. But Michael Tilson Thomas met Sasha at this competition and later conducted him in the Rach 3 at the renowned Tanglewood. Phenomenon meets resistance. 'Nothing perfect in this world'.
Six years ago this was recorded. He was dealing with a great loss at the time (so I have been told). This is one remarkable, amazing human. If, ever, you get the chance, or you have already seen him perform live already, grab the chance!
Wow , i didnt knew that
So intense for a 17 yr.old - So mature.
This is just phenomenal. Sasha was just 17 when he played this. He is 23 now and has continued to fly with and to the stars in every way!!!
One of a kind.
Bravo❤
Incroyable, il donne tout ! Des œuvres toutes plus complexes les unes que les autres, et tout ça, de mémoire ! Il a un cerveau hors du commun, la mémoire gestuelle aussi et un talent exceptionnel d'interprétation. Waouh..🙏👏🎶❤️🎶✨
Bravo Alexander!!!!!
Sasha is undoubtedly incredibly talented, but at this tempo he can't keep up with his left hand, and the melody sometimes just disappears or sounds inexpressive.
This was in 2019, he was 17 .👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
At the first note I got goose bumps all over . Sacha is Unique ! ❤❤❤
The arpeggios at 8:16 are really so dense and dramatic not mere virtuosic passages.Bravissimo
far from the best. the best will always be pollini
a very talented young pianist
3:02 what is that left hand? Only playing 8th notes? Awesome technique this guy
C’è qualcosa di divino in lui perché supera ogni limite umano!
❤👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻
Well played, of course, although the effect of sheer brilliance could still be achieved with a slightly less fast tempo.
👍
So great

Гений🙏
No words! Pure genius...
To akrishnaa: The word 'genius' has been so overused that it's become trivial and almost meaningless. How about "virtuoso?"
I wonder what he was saying!
Amazing
P R O M O S M
Russian pianists still the best.👍👍👍
I will call it : " Trifonov Valzer " :D
Everyone who says Chopins winter wind or his torrent etude are harder, they don’t even know how to play on the piano
I’ve been in this most of my life have seen everyone-- never saw the likes of Sasha. He really is beyond genius and thank god we have him on the planet to make these horrible times a bit sweet.I love him following him 5 years.
In my view, the finest since Rachmaninov. The truly complete musician.
Alexander at 17 and already spectacular .
In every sense.

Wow!!! Maravilloso!!
❤❤❤🎉
Do you have the other pieces that he played from this round?
Yes , you can listen to the other pieces on tch16.medici.tv ☺️ … Or should i upload some videos of him playing the other pieces?
Where are you from by the way? I like your rachmaninov . I can hear all the melodies … I also play a lot of rachmaninov especially in competitions 👍
Thank you, I am from Slovenija. Currently I’m studying in Serbia. Rachmaninoff is my favourite composer. I will play his 2nd Sonata in about two weeks in a competiton
@@leonardkobal7340Same, i became 2nd in a Competition with the 100 best german pianists between 13-15 with his 2nd sonata . Do you play the 1913 or 1931 version?
Now I play the 1931, but I learned the first version too
Bravissimo.
It really just beggars belief. I've watched hundreds of pianists and just occasionally I'm absolutely astonished by what I see. This is one of those times.
He is Putin’s adept! Do you know what social and moral responsibility is? Richard Wagner also was outstanding composer! What a shame! ☠️🇷🇺
@@Storozhuck 😅😅😅 I could not give a shit what his politics are. I don't know him. I don't WANT to know him. I'm commenting on his ability as a pianist. Nothing more than that.
He is NOT a Putin supporter.
Extraordinary
