She's very cute and sexy, but lacks grace and sophistication. At times she appears to be flailing. With dedicated practice she could become a good dancer but if she is relying solely on her cuteness to take her places, then I'm afraid she has a short career ahead of her.

She did a great performance. I don't know what the problem is with some of you people. You are either jealous or can't dance as good as her!

So men think Sophie is cute and sexy while women think she is trash. What does that prove? And what is belly dancing for? Exercise and perfection of technique or entertainment? There are musicians who aren't very skilled who can hold the audience in the palm of their hand. Sophie is an exciting performer. People rave about Didem but she leaves me cold.

@xprincessx84 I totally agree, I live in the uk and i'm part Romani gypsy yet danced belly dance for 10 years and taught by lebanese and cypriot dancers when I lived in Cyprus, I have incorporated odissi movements and yoga to help flexiblity whilst researching ancient cultures, so what I am trying to say hehe is that I hate how the west has like you said cheapened this dance into silly girls shaking their hips and pouting.

@greentiger777 The tempo doesn't deviate from the belly dance as a style. Belly dance is based on isolation and exaggerated belly movements. It's style overall isn't determined by tempo like some other dances. Her speed isn't what makes her performance less-than-peak, it's her lack of skill and control and good combination.

@greentiger777 Not necessarily. Belly dance can fit any tempo, it just depends on what the dancer wants to portray and how.
