When someone puts their hands on your throat, it is time to get serious. The throat is a soft target. It can be severely damaged, and can even possibly be fatal.

PALM HEEL - Part 2 - The palm heel strike is an excellent strike that can be delivered to various head targets, and body targets. It also minimizes the chance of damaging your own hand.

Sparring is one of the very best ways to increase your reflex speed and accuracy. In the youth class we allow no contact to the head, and light contact to the body.

The palm heel strike is a fantastic strike that can even be used to an opponent's skull. A knuckle punch to the skull could do damage to the striker's knuckles, but the palm heel can hit the skull hard without causing any damage to the striker's hand.

That kamae (position) that invades that space is called Jumonji in Ninjutsu. Really works well. Look it up!
We are an American system, so we use the English language for naming our positions and techniques. Of course I understand why Asian systems use Asian terminology. Whatever you name it , it works! :) As Shakespeare said "a rose by any other name ........."
@@raysneed890 absolutely! What ever communicates the idea. Jumomji means figure 10. I’ll send a pic
Thanks
You liked it , I assume? :)

Good info
thank you!
Something I need to work on
it can make a huge difference in the power you can put into your strikes. Add your body wt. moving forward, to the power of your hips and upper body twisting, to the power of your arm, even a small person can generate a lot of power!
A slap is safer for the slapper also. Punching can easily break a hand.
That is true if the puncher doesn't punch correctly. Hammerfists are also good substitutes for the basic punch.
@@raysneed890 👍 If you're training for self defence you want to give yourself the greatest chance to survive w/ the least amount of damage.
How often are you planning to release videos?
On average , I would say we will release videos once or twice a week. We skipped a couple of weeks due to some technical issues, but I will upload our latest tonight. I hope you are gaining some good information from them.
Good to know
Bitch slaps don't win street fights.
Nice! Subscribed to check out more. Agree, simple easy to understand common sense striking motions!
That is what we strive for. Thanks for the comment. Help us spread the word.
Thank you. Good stuff!
Glad you liked it !

Good information, wise words, " don't initiate " ,I've never had my ass kicked, partly because I've never initiated.
EXACTLY - The best self defense technique is the avoidance of violence!
Good information
Good seeing ya’ll the other day
Excellent sparring match.
Sparring is a controlled reflex exercise. It builds your ability to block attacks, as well as see viable targets and and launch your own attack.
Looks like this belongs in the early days of YT. The trolling isntoo obvious.
YT?
Please tell me you are joking!
what do you see that you consider a joke?

Ray u are a master
Dude is winded after standing there and had to go lean on the dumbells, clearly a serious student of combat.
You assume someone is winded by looking at his HAND on the dumbbells? Wow , you must be clairvoyant???
These 2 young ladies are intense. Notice the match does not end just because it goes to the ground. A real bad guy will not stop trying to hurt you just because he knocks you down, or you fall down. If you go down, you have to continue fighting. When someone is trying to hurt you, you cannot give in until you have stopped that attack and gained safety.

yup look how dangerous bas rutten was back in pancrase days. he tore people up with palm strikes
He sure did. He purely would beat his opponents DOWN with the palm heel strike.
Cronnies? you are one sick puppy.
sick? what's sick about that? besides, it's a joke! :)
These 2 young ladies are intense. I expect both of them to go far in the martial arts.

I, actually, find the techniques in these videos useful and applicable. I like the straight-forward, no nonsense approach.
Thank you. That is our aim. A person should never participate in violence (outside of sports) unless it is forced upon them. But if it must be, it needs to be fast, accurate, efficient, and ended as quickly as possible. A real fight is no time for complicated techniques, or fancy moves.
You should never get grabbed if you are staying alert and aware of your surroundings. Still, humans are fallible, many things can effect our level of alertness. So for that time, you are not as aware as you should have been, and somebody grabs you with intent to harm, here is a good way to deal with it!
Some conversation I have had, prompt me to add this point. The wrist position for this strike has to be just right. Get on a heavy bag, strike it slowly, with very little power, at first, to make sure you are doing it correctly and won't hurt your own wrist. Slowly build speed and power. On the other hand, if you are totally uncomfortable with this strike, a Y hand strike to the throat is an excellent alternative as a front hand strike to the throat. Y hand strike uses the web between the thumb and first finger. ONE of my favorite strikes, actually.
Not sure why it cuts off there at the end. There wasn't much left, but I will see if I can restore the ending.
Incidentally, when the instructor refers to the Avengers karate chop, he is referring to the old Avengers tv show, not Marvel's Avengers. :)
Nice ,, step through, so your using your bodyweight , especially if your small like me, 😎
absolutely
You sir have some of the best training tips, I have seen in a while. Would love to train at your place.

@@raysneed890 Sorry but after watching you ridiculous "Inverted Knife Hand" or what ever you want to call it, you lost all respect....You need to read what I wrote to understand this reply.....
@@dannydoughboy120 when i pull up the knifehand video, I see no comments. What is your problem with that technique. Furthermore why would you write off a whole system over one technique that you don't like? I have watched many videos of krav maga, and many other self defense styles. I don't agree with everything they do , but I do agree with a lot of it. I don't knock Krav Maga, or Lee Morrison, or Tony Blauer if there is one technique that I don't agree with. So what is it about the knife hand that you do not like?
@@raysneed890 already explained in that video. No more explanation needed. As a professional instructor, as I was, you would already know the fault, without another instructor having to explain it to you.
I do want to add a thought to my previous statement about striking first, when all attempts to deescalate have failed, and there is no avenue of ready escape. I do believe in such a situation, it is not unethical to throw the first strike. HOWEVER, keep in mind, if you were to wind up in court over the situation, it is possible some judge or jury may have a different opinion. It is sad, but legal doesn't always mean fair.
The instructor brings up a very good point. If you move FIRST you greatly increase your chances of hitting your target. When someone makes it known clearly that they mean to do you harm, de-escalation has failed, and there is no escape route, I believe it is completely ethical to strike first. Understand, this is when there is no chance of avoiding the fight.
Gutzim Mumdo, you are mistaken. There is nothing stupid about training to increase your target lock ability, and it is certainly not dangerous. Oh a slip up might lead to a bruise , or at worst a bloody lip, This is self defense training, occasional minor bumps and bruises will happen, but a student needs to learn that if they take a shot, it is not the end of the world, and they still have to fight back. And compared to what the real criminal in the street will do to you, what might happen in class is a brush with a feather.
The purpose of this drill is to increase target acquisition speed, and speed of your attack to that target. Obviously the attacks are not delivered with full power, especially to the head. This particular drill is upper body only, no kicks allowed. It is a close in fighting drill. The students take turns, unlike a real sparring match, and are not wearing the sparring gloves or other padding they would during a regular match. The purpose is to learn to quickly visualize what targets a moving opponent has left open during the altercation, target lock, then deliver an effective attack to that target. This has to happen in milliseconds in a real fight.
How long until that girl quits? Looks like she has some grit, but it didn't look like good training for her. Should aim to have it be good training for both. The young man took shots that would hurt her, but not someone physically superior. A reaching strike off the lead arm to the belly isn't going to do much to someone who'd actually attack him. His elbows tend to be reaching off rear shoulder while his rear foot is planted FAR away. He needs to step up (or better yet, step in and pivot to take a rear angle on his opponent) as he delivers those elbows, so he has the potential to deliver high damage for the risk of getting SO close without off balancing his opponent. * footwork, weight transfer and positioning over just striking 'meaner' *
There's no quit in that young lady. You have to understand - this is an upper body drill - not a full on sparring match. If it was a match they would be wearing padded sparring gloves, and there would be a lot of use of the legs. Both of these students are great kickers. The purpose of this drill is to quickly find viable targets on a moving attacker, and quickly determine what strike to use against that target. In class, especially when the hands aren't padded, we confine the body strikes to the abs so as not to hurt your partner. In a real fight I assure a front hand body punch can be devastating if you hit the solar plexus, liver, or floating ribs. I have seen grown very athletic men completely downed by such a strike in the UFC.
