Hi Guys, enjoy your insights every week. I currently have one trade left that I a hoarding in event of injury. So in the mean time I am compiling a to do and NOT do list for my 2025 season. Been super coaching for years but recently my scoring has sucked. Used to be consistently in the top 10% now struggling to stay inside the top 20%. Do you have any rules/guidelines that you try to stick to or will institute next season from what you have learnt from 2024? AND a big THANK YOU for all your work on these podcasts I really appreciate your take on the game. 🙂

Thanks for the advice regarding the Fisher trade. I also used to not trade back a player that I had traded out, but I have already traded out Martin in round 2 and back in round 5 and will now be doing the same with Fisher. I want to get him in now, even though he has a bye next round, since I wouldn't want to pay 480k+ for him after his bye.

Zorko has never been in my team, due to the flog factor, but I have bitten the bullet and he will be coming in this round. Boo.

Good looking team Damo.✌We have the same D1-D4, D6. Have D'Ambrosio D5 after Coleman went down, Gibcus is my D8. Same players in my side on the other lines are, Bont M1, Green M2, Martin M3, McKercher M6, Sanders M7, Hustwaite M8, Windsor M9, Roberts M10, Clark M11 Grundy R2, Jordon F3, Reid F4, Sexton F5, Wilson F6.

As far as my team goes. I started from scratch a few days ago and ended up going from a 3/5/2/1 structure to 4/5/2/1. I had midpricers in the fwd line and have gone down to rookies to go 4 deep in the backline. My current starting 12 keepers are, Stewart, Houston, Sheezel, Young, Bont, Petracca, Butters, Green, Brayshaw, Gawn, Grundy, Flanders. The only change could be Houston>Daicos, but with five round zero keepers already, not sure that would be a good idea. McKercher (65%) and Sanders (57%) should be in every team.

I'm just picking the players that I want, even with the early byes, Petracca, Green, Gawn, Grundy, Flanders, but if I am undecided between players and one has the early bye and the other doesn't, I will pick the one without the bye. So picking Sicily/Stewart over Daicos. I won't be flipping players during the early byes, we will need the extra 4 trades near the end. If Billings has a spot in the team and is playing well and has a low BE, I will be holding in round six, I would prefer to trade a rookie that is no longer playing. I have two Port players, Butters & Sweet and three Freo players, Young, Brayshaw & Sharp. (Fyfe is on the watchlist). I have four starting premos from round 14, Stewart, Petracca, Gawn, Flanders, round 15, two, Sicily & Bont.

Good looking team Damo, I'm going with much the same structure, 3/5/2/2. I'm tempted to go lighter in the fwd line like you if the midpricers (Fyfe, Jordon) and rookies look good. Curently have Flanders F2, Jordon F3. I'm leaving Daicos until after his bye, have Sicily D1, Stewart D2. We have the same ruck line, but I'm hoping a cheaper playing ruck rookie comes along for R3, someone like A.Reid.

Tom Green has been my M3 from go, not worried about his bye.

I started Stewart last year, then traded him out after he was injured in round one, thinking he was going to be out for four weeks. I will be starting with him again, currently D2. I'm not flipping players in the early bye rounds, had too many injuries last year(14).

A great first up mailbag Damo, Clarky and DR. Currently have Daicos as my D1, but happy to fade him and try to get him in after his round 5 bye. The only problem is I don't have a lot of confidence in the top defenders this season, Sicily is my D2, then Young D3, don't like the early draw for Sinclair and Stewart is a year older, plus not sure a bit of midfield time is a good thing. Started Bont last season and after getting over the shock of his 725k price this season will be starting Bont again. I didn't have him in my first draft, but after looking at how many two bye players I had, I decided to upgrade Green to Bont, will have Bont and Petracca as my VC/C options every round.

Great to hear from you again Damo, Clarky, Lekdog. I was stressing about the byes and tried to pick players with only one bye round and I hated it. So now I'm just picking the players I like and want, except Macrae who I don't like or want, but have to because of the byes and the fact the fwd line is a disaster zone. Currently have 12 keepers, only six with one bye, so not the best result, I really wanted Green, but having seven with two byes would have been too many, so upgraded him to Bont. My 12 keepers are Daicos, Sicily, Young, Bont, Petracca, Butters, Brayshaw, Walsh, Gawn, Grundy, Macrae, Flanders. If we get enough backline rookies, I will be tempted to fade Daicos and get Green in, but at the moment I am happy with my 3/5/2/2 structure. I like the Rivers pick, but he is about 25k too expensive for me and then we have the two byes. Petracca was my first picked, I have never started him, but he has ended up in my team as an upgrade since 2020.
