Single-Stage to Double-Stage Dust Extraction Upgrade: Mind-Blowing Results! #woodworking

In this video, I upgraded my one stage dust collection system to a double-stage setup, separating rough chips into a larger bucket. This allows me to run my machines longer without constantly emptying the dust bin a huge time saver!
I’ve always been skeptical about cyclone separators, thinking they would ruin the efficiency of a dust collection system. However, I was completely proven wrong. With the separator I installed from IGM not only does it work flawlessly, but it also seems to improve airflow, allowing my vacuum cleaner to process more air volume per hour. The result? A smoother and more efficient system that I’m very pleased with!
That said, one issue I noticed is that my vacuum cleaner blows dusty air back into the workshop. To solve this, I’m adding an exhaust system to vent the warm, dirty air outside, and I show you how I plan to tackle that in this video.
If you’re looking to improve your dust collection setup, or are curious about whether a double-stage system is worth it, this video is for you! Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more woodworking tips and upgrades.

Stockroom Supply in Canada makes alternative filters for the Camvac and they’re amazing. An easier way to close is to turn on a couple motors, puts your hand in front of the inlet and then the clasp goes a lot better. It happens very quick so the pressure doent harm anything I don’t think
Thanks for the tip!
In the states, Jet has the exact same thing and gets poor reviews. I absolutely love mine
I think the measurements for the air flow might be a bit flawed, adding something like that is sure to at least slightly reduced air flow and I dont really see a way it can improve it since it's gonna add some resistance to the flow. My best guess at why it is reading high after adding the separator is that it must have a smaller area for the air to travel through causing the air to speed up as it goes through it which would be why it's saying it's got higher flow. You may want to re test it with just a few feet of the hose attached to get the air to be flowing through the same sized hole at the location of the test before the separator is added so that way you can get a more accurate reading. Other than that the video was great and I enjoyed watching
Hi there and thanks for your review and that you took the time to to give me proper feedback. I will follow up your advice and I will measure the measurement again with a couple of inches of extraction hose at attached. I had a chat with a guy that is doing this for his daily job and he told me to measure in the middle on both ends so that is why I followed these steps thanks for your feedback and I will let you know the outcome
well done. there's a reason I'm subscribed
🙏🏼
Very Interesting, from where did you order/bought the separator ? Thanks!
Hi, From IGM tools
Thanks for this nice test💚
My pleasure 😊
How did you get the sliding door in place, when the cabinet already was mounted?
The sliding doors are horizontal strips. The strip on the top is way wider than the bottom. In the cabinet, I made a groove on the top and bottom. The bottom is 3 mm deep and the top is 9 mm deep so the sliding doors the top is has a wider strip than the ball. This makes it possible to lift in your door and then it will fall down 3 mm, so it is stuck in the grooves
Beautifull peace once again, thank you for sharing daily! Will you also show how to install the lights inside with hiding the cables?
Thanks!! I will upload that as well
A lot of setup, room for human error, cumbersome.
Agree it comes with those compromises that is way i say you cant compare this with the festool jointer. It is a nice jig for starters of hobbyists.
I checked everywhere online and can’t find anyone who ships to the US. Do you have a US source, or website I could find the bits at? Thx
So this set FESTOOL FB D 15-35 CE-SET is un available in the us? Well i can ship it but i dont know if that is a cheap option
Is this dado stack a Hassel to use or is it worth buying over a regular Freud dado stack.
I got both and to be honest this is a little bit easier to set up because we have very nice chims that are fixed in the sawblade so it fits very sturdy but if you work with measurements your project then the freud is also fine. I would say little bit more set up time.
Nice review. I think I'll be buying a Kerg. The Festool is out of my budget for now. Also, Hello from the NL!
Thanks for your feedback and i would say if you use it occasionally and you are on a budget it is a good choice. En de groeten uit NL terug
I would rather make a tenon template for router. Cheaper, same or better result and most likely simpler.
That would be also a great job. I like this jig but i would always buy the domino machine. Safe me a lot of time so it will pay back after all.
Where did you buy the bit you’re using?
It is the festool forstner drill bit
Thank you. I have looked on numerous online sites and the only ones who carry it are European distributors and can’t send to the US. Do you know a US vendor that sells the set? Thx
No. It's just too much faffing about
With the jig you mean?
@@dcreationwoodworking3495 yeah.
Basically similar to a biscuit jointer
It all comes down to the same yes
Supposed to be stronger than biscuits but I've never broken one yet, and I'm already set up for that.
would you use it?
I would have to say no as well. First off, the fact that I would have to use Festool tenons for a better fit comes into play. Secondly, with all that "wiggle" it would give me, I figure I can get the same results if I were to use biscuits. The Festool domino is way out of my budget. But that's not to say that I would never buy one when they lose their patent and the price comes down, or at least when another company comes out with something very much like the Festool domino. Until then I will put my money out on a good dowel jig.
I had to use my car jack and 2 x 4 's to hold the cabinets up while screwing them in the wall. It worked just fine.
From the picture preview I totally thought I was going to see a model rocket shoot off. Ha! But those stands are cool too...
@@martialman86 maybe later in the future when I got to the budget of Elon Musk 😅
Так- надо!!!
That's the first time I've ever seen this and as with most things I think I can no longer live without, it's probably going to cost me a fortune.
@@TheLastPharm hahah yep it all comes with a price! But the last really long use mu set for a couple of years and it is as new
@dcreationwoodworking3495 It would, because most people, like myself, generally tend to handle the more expensive gear with a lot more care than the crappy Harbour Freight stuff. Most of my Festool kits look amazing even though I bought most more than 10 years ago. Must check this set out. I could have been using this daily this past summer. Would have saved a lot of time.
Works with small spots. But this looks like it was added later?
@@dietmarfinster3176 💯 % real footage i don’t have any reason to lie about this
Hello, what is the brand of the black and green angle squares that can be seen hanging on the wall?
That is the precision triangle from Benchdogs UK
"Easy Clip" well easy to use but needs 100s of dollars of equipment to be able to make :D
Use your creativity and use your own tools no need to have it all as long you understand how you make it
Great video, better technique than the official JessEm guides - using the indexing pin or edge of the jig itself as the positive stops is so much more comfortable than matching the centerline mark, especially on narrow pieces. Then you can also index off previously drilled holes and move your way down even a long piece, it has worked great for me in the past. Nice demo of this great jig!
Hi, thanks for your comment and support! I am very glad that this helped!
🔥🔥🔥
Когда-то, живя в глубоком СССР, эту конструкцию я видел в журнале *Наука и жизнь* , раздел *Полезные советы*
❤❤
хорошая система, но неоправданно дорогие машина и расходники
An 18" padded box would also work. The countertop it's sitting on is already level, correct?
I was able to set the top cabinet on this clamp so I can bring it up and down and it wasn’t level on the wall yet. I brought it level with these clams, but obviously I won’t measure it before I’m gonna place my cabinet to have it as level as possible.
можно было ещё покрыть золотом и заместо дешёвых шурупов загнать бриллианты. Festool, всё-таки ...
Yeas think so
Good looking zero clearance insert I’ve seen on a saw ever. Inspiration for sure! Thanks for sharing.
Brutha man get yo self a spokeshave. Can knock the initial shaping out much faster then refine with the block if necessary. Nicely done regardless.
😱i forgot i got those as well thanks for the reminder
Which one would you say has more clamping power, the lamello or domino connector? Thanks for sharing everyday!
@@OvGmaybe i would say the both are very strong but i would put my money on the clamex in regards of strength
i love it
How much for the whole set?
Not so much to be honest its online available
🎉
Absolutely beautiful!! Just discovered your channel. I will keep tuning in.😊 DDecker
Many thanks 🙏🏼
like the step by step guide format. one question about the many slats for the door. you ripped using the bandsaw, did you clean up the cut with the jointer and thicknesser/planer?
Hi, thanks for your comment! I just kept them a little bit thicker than needed, so I was able to run them through my planner thickenerS to make them all the same thickness and to have four nice clean sides
Mesmerizing skillset on display. Absolutely a top craftsman at work here. A simple design that lets the workmanship do all of the talking. Definately keep the shadow line. Adds interest at the connection between the elements. May I ask what is the model of the coping saw???
Hi many thanks for your comment and honest review. The brand of the coping saw is knew
