For some reason there are directors who don't want Kundry to die. I'm afraid that means they have missed an important part of the story. Kundry's most cherished wish is to finally be allowed to die. Her collapse provides a "gut punch" dramatically speaking. That in contrast with the sublime ceremony of the Grail is far more powerful dramatically.

each time after watching this masterpiece, I feel purified as well ... what an amazing work.

I have never attended to a live performance of this opera, though I've listened to many records and videos of it. This opera is way more than an opera to me, it has changed the way I see the world ( guess all works of art do it somehow) hope if I ever have the chance to see a live performance of it I won't be too prone to comparisons to the most acclaimed ones

How a human being could create music like this will always remain a miracle for me ! It takes you like in a rush , opening a completely new world in your mind...

Wagner's last child; arguably his finest creation. Parsifal was incubated over the course of his musical life and birthed with rose petals, scent and silken frabrics close at hand at a Palazzo in Venice and completed the score in Palermo, Italy. Wagner, litterally on his last legs, finished scoring Parsifal in January 1882; it premiered at Bayreuth in July 1882; Wagner died in February 1883. Nuff said.

Unparalled sonics. Best rmusical reading of Parsifal I've ever heard and I've heard virtually all of the recordings and many live performances (since the 1960s). Boy, did van Zweden ace this one. (I'm sure excellent acoustics and pefect mike placements helped, but still...) BTW: The cast and choir are excellent; I especially liked the Gurnermanz (name?)

Beginning 39.56 one of the most stirring momments in all Wagner

…Parsifal ist ein grandioses Werk. Die Besetzung der Titelrolle mit Herrn Vogt ist es für mich nicht. An seiner Stimme scheiden sich die Geister. Seine Interpretation des Lohengrin war die erste- und letzte- Wagner Oper, der ich live und vollständig beigewohnt habe. Stimmen gefallen, oder eben nicht . Wer bin ich, andere für gegenteilige Auffassungen zu kritisieren. Non mi piace
