Videos awesome as usual mate 👍🏻 I landed at Bournemouth today at 12:08 curious if you or anyone else saw it.
Where abouts are you spotting from? Is it Parley Lane?
Some was taken down the path near matchems lane the other was taken right by runway 08 where the fence is lower
@@aviation747 thank you! I'm in Bournemouth now so I'll check it out!
@@looman_11 No worries hope you enjoy!
The -600 seems to defy the laws of physics - since the rear wings pushing down are having to lift the front half of the street-long fuselage - surely the strain on the structure ought to cause it to snap! Magnificent piece of engineering!
It certainly is, always impressive everytime i see it
Geniune curiosity, what is special about this plane?
I will be honest not a lot, its just a big private jet thats not massively common to see
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed!
How come it has a ZZ number?
I believe its because this aircraft operates on behalf of the MOD where it operates as a civil owned military aircraft (COMA)
Very impressive! Love the 340. 😊 UK
More A340-600s are going back into service with Lufthansa. South African Airlines with other operators own other A340-600s for spare parts to keep their fleet going. The A340-300, 400 and 500 are used in Latin countries and one flies from Amsterdam Airport.
Gear?

META- FELICIA & KEN❤❤❤❤
If they only got in a real fight in that era, they would fuck everyone up. We saved a crippled SR71 at least. But.... We did hell of a lot more. But its a secret. Like uap,s. Now its pouring... 2026. Then all will know.
I Love the A340. It is such a gigantic long plane. It can carry a schipload of fuel in those mighty wings and all internal tanks and you need that with 4 engines. But is there an engine on the market that can replace the 4 engine configuration to a 2 engine configuration with the most powerful engine on the market the GE9X? But what would 2 GE90 do? If you comparing the 4 CFM56 A320 type engines on the A340-300. It would be easy. But now on the Dash 600 they use the Trent 500 and use 56.000 pounds of thrust where they are rated for 60.000. So 2 of them produce 112.000 pounds. The GE90 is more powerful with 115.000 pound for the GE90 for the 777-300ER. So theoretical you can put 2 engines under the wings and fly with them.
That is a very good point, however i am unsure weather a GE-90 would fit under the A340 wing and even if it did it would need a new pylon fitted in order for it to be balanced. These costly adjustments would likely make it not a viable option. However theoretically it would be very cool to see and the thrust to weight ratios would be very good for an aircraft of its size!
@aviation747 Thanks for your Reply and yes the now bigger and more powerful Trent 500 Engines are rated for 60.000lbs of thrust but are derated to 56.000lbs because that is only needed and it also expands the service time between the 2 engines, with a combined output of 112.000 lbs that comes very close to the GE90 with 115.000lbs. Concerning the engine height and clearance from the ground, the current engines fit under the wing. However for the Enormous GE90 Front Fan, no aircraft can put these engines right under the wing and they install the engine partially forward up, what is also done with the 737 MAX with the larger high Bypass engines the higer the bypass ratio the more efficient. So the question would it fit? And I agree on your point they need to develop a new Pylon that can handle double the Thrust. I have also read that the design and construction of the wings are pretty similar to the Twinjet A330 wings to safe some money. A330 Engines have a max output of 71.100 so not sure if the load of the GE-90 on 1 point is too much. But the main point of making a Twinjet from A340 would have been a stretched A330 and that was not what it was intended for. And the whole point about the 4 engines were the ETOPS rules in the early 90's. the range of the A340 is enormous and can cross the Passific and where the A330 with 2 engines could not operate these overseas routes because of the limited range over water ETOPS Rules. When the A340 was in development, Twinjets had a max of 120minutes so the A340 was a logic choice for a lot of overseas routes. But ETOPS 180 came pretty quick so the A340 didn't benefit long enough from lower ETOPS to sell more A340's.
@@LennardA320 The A330 wing is actually the same as the wing on the earlier A340s that had CFM-65 engines so mounting two GE-90s wouldnt be possible without a major redesign to the wings structure likely resulting in the entire wing being redesigned. The idea of bringing them up like the 737MAX is also good but that creates its own issues with development although the technology does already exist and if training is adjusted to the new design a MCAS like system may not even be needed making it a feasible option!
@aviation747 Yes you have to design a stronger wing. Now 35 year later the A340 will be legacy plane and still capable of long flights. But now we have the A350-900/1000 that has more capacity and complete new evolution. Even the A330-900NEO And A350-900 are somewhat comparable. But the amount of seat range can be very different if you have a 4-class cabine or 2-class. A330-900 is maybe somewhat smaller and maybe used for more economy seats where the A350 can offer more premium products.
Airbus 340 that's a big airplane
It certainly is!
Great footage as always brotha
Thank you!

Nice
Thank you!
Why is the gear out the whole time?
They kept it down the entire flight as it was a ferry flight, the gear hadn't been cycled in an extended period of time therefore a cycle test is required something that was performed during its maintenance at another airport as Bournemouth doesn't have the facilities for this. You are correct about the gear down creating more drag and it also limits the aircraft's speed that it can fly at so as not to cause any damage to the gear making this flight very slow and very inefficient in terms of fuel burn
Have been watching a few videos of yours from Bournemouth, looks like some neat spots around the airport. I'm sure you already knew but the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight will be basing the Draken at Bournemouth for Eastbourne Airshow in 2 weeks time. They will also, as you'd expect, base the Draken and Viggen there for Bournemouth Airshow. Hope to see some videos from yourself of them.
Thank you so much for watching the videos! I was actually unaware of the darken being based here in two weeks time but i will effeminately have to try catch it now i know! Unfortunately for the Bournemouth Airshow i will be out of the country so sadly i will miss that :(
Why they didn't retract the landing gear?
The aircraft needed a gear swing test due to being on ground for an extensive amount of time. This was not possible at Bournemouth so they had to ferry it with its gear down to somewhere where this test is possible
lovely shots of the 787
Thank you!
I flew many times on Iberias A346es, Sad to see her out of service.
It is a shame however at least it still flies on as a freighter!
They fly over my house in Southampton to or from China/Bournemouth most days, its about 5 minutes away by plane so quite low, absolutely makes my day when I see it. As I understand during Covid they were bringing in PPE, not sure what now, general airfreight?
You are correct, during lock down / covid time it was PPE now its mostly E-Commerce

Long time to retract the landing gear😮
The aircraft needed a gear swing test therefore it flew its entire flight with the gear down.
Beautiful Aircraft....but what about gear-up???
The aircraft needed a gear swing test alongside other maintenance this was a ferry flight to a location where all this was possible!
Love your plane shot! Can I feature it in my project with credit? Thanks!
Thank you! Feel free to use this and any of my other videos in your project :)

Good candidate for convrsion to all cargo. Conversion will give them longer life and save them from early retirement and scrapping
Couldn't agree more! Its great to see these aircraft get a new lease of life!
Woah, that’s crazy! Such a beauty and such a beast.
Il cherosene costa purtroppo è anche se bellissimi sono antieconomico ormai e surclassato dal 787 e a350 per non parlare dei 777.
Absolutely wonderful spotting and displays , hope you had a great time, as always keep up the great work and enjoy your passions to what you do, as I’m sure many look forward towards your amazing work anyday - 👍🔥💙
Thank you mate!
Wow absolutely amazing video! ✈️🤩👍🏼
nice captures 🤩
Thank you!
nice
Thank you!
In that last tight curve the landing gear must have good drag
It certainly would be, luckily the aircraft was mostly empty so its not too much of a problem.
One of he best!
When did they pull up the landing gear? Nevertheless, sharp aircraft.
The aircraft had been on ground long enough that a gear swing test was required something that Bournemouth doesn't have the facilities for therefore the aircraft had to be ferried with its gear down. The gear was actually down for the entire flight!
@@aviation747 Wow, ok. Interesting.
interesting.. i wonder if this will be the next addition to the european cargo fleet. ive heard that they have one coming in july and another two by october. ive seen G-ECLM on flightradar a few times with 'TEST' as the call sign
This aircraft is already part of the fleet although i am unsure if it has been kitted out for cargo flying, the departure in this video was a maintenance ferry flight though so its certainly possible!
Gorgeous, whatever happened with the ex-etihad A345 that landed at bornemouth and it was to be a freighter as well, fantastic video by the way.
Thank you! It is still there parked at the back of the airport near Europeans hangar.
@@aviation747 Thanks I hope they don´t brake it.
OMG Gear up already!!! what is the hold up?
Ferry flight, it had to fly with it's gear down.
Awesome display 👏 Beautiful video ❤
WHY LANDINGS GEAR NO GO UP???!!??
It was a ferry flight for maintenance, the aircraft had been on ground so long it required a gear swing test something that wasn't possible at Bournemouth therefore it flew its entire flight with its gear down!
