How could God or the Holy spirit inspire two people to write different accounts on the same incidence that occurred once!
The storms of life will surely come! It is how we choose to deal with them that matters most to God. Will we choose Fear and let it paralyze us or will we step not in faith keeping our eyes on Jesus and get to where Christ wants us to be?
Jesus' "pearls" are the Wisdom He Is. The swine are the foolish men...Jesus is recalling here the Jewish Wisdom Literature where the wise man does not share his wisdom with fools, because they would rather attack you. This is a common theme in the Old Testament. As in Sirach: Sirach 22:13 Do not talk too much with a foolish man, and do not visit an unintelligent man; guard yourself from him to escape trouble, and you will not be soiled when he shakes himself off; avoid him and you will find rest, and you will never be wearied by his madness. another example Jesus echos the teaching in Proverbs: Proverbs 9:7 -10 He who corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will still be wiser; teach a righteous man and he will increase in learning. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. So the Wisdom Jesus is, and the wisdom He teaches is not to be shared with the fools, who are the swine. ... All throughout the Sermon Jesus references Wisdom ( as in Solomon, known for being most wise , building a house, etc and other metaphors.) That the Apostles and Jesus referred to Himself as Wisdom is hinted at in the Gospels: Luke 11:31 (&Mt 12:42) The queen of the south shall rise in the judgment with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold something greater than Solomon is here. .. 1 Corinthians 1:24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God… .. Colossians 2:2-4 That their hearts may be comforted, being instructed in charity, and unto all riches of fullness of understanding, unto the knowledge of the mystery of God the Father and of Christ Jesus in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ... Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. The Church has passed on this tradition of referring to Jesus as Wisdom -St Justin Martyr wrote this comment that Jesus is sometimes called Wisdom in his Dialogue with Trypho [61]: “Friends,” I said, “ I will give you another testimony, from the Scriptures, that God begot before all creatures a Beginning, who was a certain Rational Power from Himself, and whom the Holy Spirit calls the Glory of the Lord, or sometimes the Son, sometimes Wisdom, sometimes an Angel, sometimes God, sometimes Lord and Word. Matthew 20- the vineyard workers all got the SAME reward. The thief on the cross got the reward of Jesus. Jesus is the reward. John 3:16 doesn't mention "obeying", neither does Ephesians 2:8-9. To live our best lives as saved saints here on earth we should always remember our new identity in Christ, and feel the joy of being unconditionally loved, accepted & approved by God. We're not under the condemnation, shame and guilt that the rotten, stinky, children of Satan have. This is a wonderful relief and great blessing. John 6:29 Jesus answered, “The work God wants you to do is this: to believe in the one he sent.”
