Welcome to the EDGE of Reality! In my pursuit to spread science communication, education, and critical thinking to as many people as possible, I have found that a channel dedicated to the weird potentially unexplainable things in our world was necessary. Here you will find videos and deep dives on all sorts of topics you would not usually find on a science channel - conspiracy theories, unexplained happenings, the paranormal, cryptids, UFOs, aliens, and more! It's spooky season all year round, so buckle down, grab some snacks, and sink your teeth into the extraordinary!
Oldest Most Authentic UFO Photos? - McMinnville UFO And The Trent's Photos
I don’t often discuss the merits of strange things that have been deemed paranormal phenomenon. That’s mostly because the stuff usually falls out of the prevue of science. If something is supernatural it’s by definition beyond that which is natural and only that which is natural can be quantified with observations, repetition, and more. Though paranormal or supernatural phenomenon cannot literally be quantified in a skeptical scientific way, they do hold ethnological, anthropological, and culture value. On top of that, there are some phenomena that can be picked apart to find a real-world explanation. Most cryptids, for example, are misidentified flesh and blood animals that people witness, rather than spooky-ooky apparitions that don’t make sense based on the world in which we live. UFOs straddle the line between the bizarre parts of the natural and supernatural and therefore offer quite a bit of meat for us to sink our fangs into. Let’s delve into one of the most famous UFO stories that gifted UFO nut and skeptic alike some of the best photographic proof of the existence of UFOs.[DESCRIPTION]

ANOTHER Double-Finned Whale? With Polka-Dots? | Sea Monsters of the World
Переглядів 24 тис.Місяць тому
The world’s oceans are chock full of all types of unknown animals. That fact therefore means that every single cryptid sighting must be real right? Well, no of course not. Don’t be so open-minded that your brain falls out. Every single recorded report of an unknown animal must be analyzed to determine just exactly how credible it is. Some cryptids are tantamount to supernatural characters, like...
Bizarre Rural Mystery of The Van Meter Visitor (ft. Tyler Stone)
Переглядів 8 тис.Місяць тому
It always starts the same way, doesn’t it? Small town, dark nights, a wing here or there, an unworldly scream from around the corner. Off the beaten path, in a small town in Iowa, back over one hundred years, wafts the enamoring details of a story quite unlike many others, a story of a creature said to fly through the skies at unnatural speeds, a creature said to produce a blinding light from t...
Is There A Mysterious Double-Finned Whale Out There? - Giglioli’s Whale | Sea Monsters Of The World

The world of cryptozoology is filled with all sorts of bizarre creatures that could not possibly fit within the known groups of the Animal Kingdom. Some are so outlandish as to be tantamount to aliens or supernatural beings. I personally don’t even consider these critters true cryptids. However, scattered among these fantastical beasts are unknown animals that actually do quite easily fit withi...
BIZZARE Mystery of The Great Red Ape Cryptid | Big Hairy Hominoids
Переглядів 4,6 тис.2 місяці тому
Easily one of the most common cryptid archetypes is the big hairy hominoid. I don’t even need to bring up the names of everyone’s favorite big hairy hominoids for you to know what I am referring to. However, these sorts of critters have been reported from quite literally every crack and crevasse of the world. There are even controversial and sometimes outright made-up stories of ancient reports...
Legend Of The Malpelo Monster | Are There Really Giant Sharks? | Sea Monsters Of The World
Переглядів 9 тис.Рік тому
The biggest shark to ever live, as far as is known, is Otodus megalodon. To that end, there are a few accounts of the thing surviving to modern times. All of them are incredible nonsense made to grab headlines, but that doesn’t mean every single report of giant sharks are. One such report is even tantalizingly credible. Cpt. Cook did like his sandwiches, usually cheese and pickle! 😂
I'm surprised I'm only seeing this now - awesome video, very well researched! And thanks for featuring my blog!! Cryptid cetaceans are my particular niche obsession, there's tons of dubious species with bizarre features, but the Rhino Dolphin has always been my favourite. I wasn't familiar with the two-finned humpback, that's a really cool sighting.
Well, thank you for providing this! Though this observation makes so less sense, I can't really see, how two serious naturalists would have made this up, just for pulling a prank on us (or their colleagues)...🤔
Why did these cryptid videos just... Vanish and then come back after a while?
could have been something like a foreign object being stabbed and lodged under the skin when the whale was younger that the whale then grew around with constant irritation causing raised scar tissue over time
The same object on 9 dolphins?
@@EdgeOfReality420 huh guess you can really tell i was watching this while doing work lmao
Saying you've mapped the sea floor and didn't see and 2 finned whales is like saying you counted the blades of grass on your lawn and did'nt see any birds - there fore birds don't exist
When was this said?
"back in the 50's -you had to get you photos developed before you could see them " 🤣 this was still the case untill the late 90's - and in fairness to the trents - photographs were expensive and you absolutely waited until you had used up the film before developing them - but that flying saucer still looks fake as fuck
Dang, that goosebumps remix intro is a certified jock jam
The double fluke ones make me think that someone saw two whales surfacing at the same time (possibly a calf and mother) and just lumped the two together
They saw 9 individuals moving around.
A Cave Bat with a miners helmet and lamp on its head.
Debunking. Professional fun killers
I’ve thought of another possible solution for why we cannot find this creature, if it exists or existed. It could easily be from a species that was at the time already endangered. The species is simply extinct, and Giglioli got the final glimpse of a dying breed.
Captain Cook didn't find Hawaiʻi. People were already living there.
Where is the opening music from?? It sounds so familiar...
AI misinformation bots love commenting on UAP videos. They aren't fake. The real story here is why the government never has returned the negatives to the family. They gave them back to newspaper that never had the rights signed over to them in the first place...
great video, i really enjoyed the insights you shared about giglioli’s whale! but honestly, i'm a bit skeptical about the existence of a "double-finned" whale. it seems like a stretch, especially when there’s no solid evidence yet. thoughts?
And I watched it. Typical in-depth EDGE quality. If I'm being honest, I think the object is a car mirror hanging from a wire. It looks small. The photos are striking and utterly iconic, but they don't convince me. I don't care, though. Where UFOs are concerned, I don't put much energy into worrying about truth. There is truth out there, but I don't know how much fun it will turn out to be. The mystery is fun. The lies and hoaxes are fun. I like the phenomenon as it is. Maybe the Trent photos are legit, maybe they're not, and I'm fine existing here in the middle.
Is that the goosebumps theme at the beginning?
How did you not get copyrighted for the Goosebumps intro?
It's a cover
@EdgeOfReality420 I see. Great video though. Keep them coming!
I do love your paleontology videos but these paranormal/supernatural ones are just so much fun.
Just hope this dolphin species is more harmlessly peaceful like it's cousins the bottlenose dolphin, or aggressive like the river dolphin.
I mean, if two dorsal fins can pop up as a mutation, and you get a small enough population for whatever reason, it could spread around. Like how you got the "Werewolf" gene that pops up in specific families.
The founder effect could be at play, if you have a restricted gene pool and a reproductively over successful individual
I am a big believer but I think McMinnville photos are bunk
Debunking and proper analyses of things like these are the best. Also, I'm surprised that it was claimed the object was "large" in the first article, to me it looks like it's the size of a wheel cover or a pot lid.
Fake af bro cmon you a science channel
I discussed the scientific analysis of these photos, did I not?
I want you to know I really enjoy your more grounded takes on the mysterious or weird stories. it makes the actual unexplainable that much more interesting. there is far too much hyperbole and people who are ready to believe anything these days. I hope you keep making more.
18:15 yeah okay I can now see how a manatee or narwal has been mistaken for a mermaid. They are just so majestic
Putting my mom on this list is crazyyyy
“I think it was one of our own” In other words, he didn’t think it was being piloted by aliens, but people from the government. That, to me at least, makes me think that the photos *might* have been real (or at least perceived to be real).
An atavistic genetic throwback😮😅...?
I'll let you off the hook for having to say "an" before "hypothesis" because the "H" isn't silent.
Their authenticity is pretty debatable, but these photos are so iconic either way. 🛸 I come in peace with this offering for your leader, the algorithm, and I'll be back to actually watch the video soon!
Considering that some humans have a condition that makes them much taller than the average person I wonder if giant animals could have similar conditions.
The lusty Oregonian maid?
If the object was real, how fast did it move? The photo seems very clear and doesn't show blurry effects to suggest it is moving across the sky. You would expect that a UFO of that size would fly quite fast and be difficult to capture with an old camera.
Nice. I love it.
Early
I doubt it but sounds interesting.
il giglio ballena mama mia 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
What about "Longsnouts"? One Soviet captain onse see these creatures in the Indian ocean. They looks like a ophtalmosaurs: very long jaws, very big eyes, and fish-like tails
Good shit. Keep it up man!
I can't stop misreading giglioli's whale as gigolo whale and am laughing like a mad man right now.
The thing is, there are giant sharks out there, depending on what you'd call 'giant'. Ignoring the massive filter feeders for now, there are large cold water deep water species that we know very little about, and there is the possibility that there are more species we've never seen and know nothing of at all. Perhaps our fascination with the Megalodon sharks all stems from 'Jaws', a massive hyper carnivorous creature that developed a taste for humans, and apparently developed enough intelligence to hunt us. Our perception isn't helped by the news reports of people being attacked by sharks, that pop up with enough frequency to keep our concerns ticking over. The thing is, the sharks aren't actively hunting us because they want humans for dinner. They often bite out of curiosity, and then get triggered by the blood that's spilled. Then there are those who mistake a wet or dry suit clad human for their actual prey, especially if the human is using a paddle or surf board. I suspect there may be some big sharks swimming in deep waters, whose diet will consist of things like Humboldt squid. And you also have the Greenland shark, a fairly big cold water living species whose nature was got completely wrong, being thought of a a docile, gentle and overall benign beast, until they learned, just a decade or so ago, that it is a brutal predator of seals...
I mean, Blainville's Beaked Whale seems like it's the most dead-on for the rhino dolphin. even in the report they said fin OR horn.
True tho the colors are a little off
@@EdgeOfReality420 Couldn't a skin infection cause spotting?
Dolphin with huge booger hanging from its blowhole.
Maybe it's not a fin but an atavistic goosebump.
This could be a silly explanation but what if the 2nd fin was the fin of the whale's baby keeping close behind his mother?
Possible, but the guy who saw it reported so many details and saw it long enough and move around enough that a misidentified baby doesn't make too much sense.
I think it was more likely a mutant born Orca that was born with an extra fin. The same way frogs have 3 eyes or deer have Xtra antlers
Orca?
Funny enough, noticeably one trait about prehistoric marine reptiles is that most of not all have rear fins that act like second pectoral fins.I don't recall seeing a current day cetacean with exposed rear fins. Call it wishful thinking but who knows? Maybe it might not be a fin at all but some sort of unique feature like an oddly shaped melon or possibly something to attract mates with.
I'm not sure I follow your reasoning? The fact that marine reptiles retained their hindlegs while cetaceans lost them doesn't seem to have any relevance to a second dorsal fin.
@@EdgeOfReality420 I could've had something better to reference honestly, but my point was that maybe there are some specific traits some animals have. like a specific species of dolphin having a second fin. but as I said this was more of wishful thinking not actual scientific reasoning.
@@EdgeOfReality420 maybes a better reference I could've used is for example how other species of mammals have unique traits of their own, like how lions have bigger manes than most big cats, or how even a walrus has tusks in the first place.
Right but wouldn't a second dorsal fin be a unique feature by definition? And this feature was seen on 9 dolphins, rather than just one.
@@EdgeOfReality420 I was thinking, sexual dimorphism possibly
Opening this video with beaked whales is such a beautiful thing to behold.
