I take the 2016 Thruxton R out for a test run, I go out onto some lovely twisty lanes in the south of England, initially I'm mightily impressed but by the end of the ride I'm not The bike has a 1200cc parallel twin engine that produces 96 bhp and 112Nm of torque Thanks to Laguna Ashford www.laguna.co.uk/ for arranging this ride

A recap of day one of my trip on some glorious roads to the Black forest in Germany with Ally's ride outs. I'm riding my Street Triple, the others are on a Daytona 675, Ninja 900, Z1000, NC 750 and an Africa Twin. This video is for educational purposes and no commercial gain will be made
2016 Triumph Speed Triple R, 1st ride and review, a bit like a Street triple on steroids
Переглядів 12 тис.8 років тому
Thanks to these guys www.laguna.co.uk/ I was able to take the new Speed Triple out for the day, it's a fantastic motorcycle whose 1050cc engine produces 140hp and 112Nm of torque, at 192kg dry weight it is 10kg heavier than my Striple. I had a brilliant time riding along twisties and the coast which even being shat on by a seagull couldn't spoil

I take the XJR 1300 out for a spin, to say I enjoyed myself would be an understatement It has an air cooled (explains the heat) engine with a small radiator to cool the oil, it creates 98hp and 105Nm torque

    Not keen on people breaking nearly every speed limit ,failed to turn your head , indicators didn’t work , because they didn’t get used , very disappointing example to set and won’t be surprised if you end up as a statistic

    Its vibrating because you don't know how to change gears. FFS learn how to ride before you try to review a bike. There is very little vibration in this engine and if you used the gears you would be able to feel the motor pulling you out of the bends with a nice smooth torque drive, there is also plenty of engine braking you just didn't know how to use it. The Bobber is actually quite nimble despite the "fat" tyre. If you knew anything about Guzzis you would know about the noticeable to the right torque pull particularly when its not moving, which contrary to popular opinion does not affect cornering. Its not a modern electronic controlled everything type sports bike with full fairing, so drop your attitude and just ride ; open your mind and learn. Your statement I haven't ridden a Ducati but I've sat on one just about sums up your obvious lack of knowledge and lastly its not competing with the Triumph its a continuation of simplicity in design and function over form.

    You can change out of 3rd gear you know. Had potential to be a decent review this but I am afraid you didn't manage it. The Guzzi is what it is, you clearly do not have capacity to understand that. Shame. See TMF or The Chronicles of Mr Fish to see how a review should be done.

    I know a few ladies who ride better than most men having 180hp bikes is bollocks on UK roads all they are good for is posing and pretending you you can use all the power on the road well you can't to many speed cameras about most people who buy these bikes are fast on the straights and shit themselves in the corners buy whatever you want to buy but I have had sports bikes unless you take them on a trackday they are pointless on the road my rd350 only put out 50 hp my gs1000 was about 85hp had plenty of fun on them

    The red warning light is set to a safe rev limit for running in purposes so you should be changing up to a higher gear. Once run in is complete it should be reset to a higher limit at its first service.

    Had a Guzzi V7 and have to agree with you 100% about the engine vibrations. Other reviews never mention this problem. Loved the style, sound, low down tractability, fun rideability etc but at the end of the day the vibes coming off the transverse mounted V Twin engine were just to fatiguing and hand numbing to live with. There's a good reason no other bike company's in the world do V Twins in that configuration.

    How does she handle? I wouldn’t be fond of scraping pegs on mountain curves or twisting roads. I saw the 2018 Bobber does that quite a bit and has a considerably less comfortable seat. Can anyone speak to that?

    riding it like an old man mate! (or a scared learner lol) get up to top gear...that's what their for! shouldn't be riding on roads in low gear all the time! not great for the engine, hence you have warning lights activating and engine screaming because under strain!

    I have one - well the Roamer version and I am no lady. Its an uber cool retro styled bike with an "agricultural" feel to it - call it character A bit stiff and you feel the bumps but its so much fun to ride Looks heavy but is extremely light for what it is. As the reviewer says, it does have a similar riding position to a scooter and therefore has just a very comfortable riding position - like sitting on a couch without the slouch. So much more fun than the booooring Triumph to which the reviewer refers and so much more cool than any Japanese bike. The finish is wonderful and solid.

  • @darlingimscared
    @darlingimscared 6 років тому

    I've also got one, one for the lady's I'm not offended to be honest it would be a great bike for a lady. It is what it is, in the market of triumph retros true and not true, it's just how all moto guzzi bikes are made, there's no moto guzzi street triple ;) I find guzzis very agricultural, it's like talking about the bhp on a tractor for road use, I'm just glad they exist as an alternative motorbike because they probably shouldn't exist.
