I kinda wish Duolingo had more languages. For example, I'm from India and we have over 20 official languages, but Duolingo only had Hindi, which is not the spoken language from where my parents came from.

okay so. ramble time. i'm autistic, and that (combined with a few other factors- class, my strong personality, my weird interests and sense of humor) led to me being really lonely as a kid. like, i would stay awake at night and cry because i was so lonely. when i got to middle school, it increased tenfold. i was insanely depressed and coped with it in some.... not healthy ways (ED, some self-harm and ideation). my mental health got better after i got to high school, but i was still so cripplingly lonely. enter robin. i started watching one piece and fell in love with her as soon as i saw her. we have the same interests, the same senses of humor... she's basically me as a (female) anime character. her backstory hit me harder than any character before or since. seeing her finally break down and admit she wanted to live was a real turning point for my depression- it made me start to believe that i could have friends, people who care about me not in spite of my weirdness but because of it. i've made some of the best friends i've ever had since then, all thanks to her. also, she helped me find my passion for anthropology and archaeology!! i've always been fascinated by it but robin is what really pushed me to pursue it. (sorry for the long comment i just. i feel So Many Feelings about robin she's so important to me)

I can't remember what I did before one piece, but I know I'm happier after having found it.

I grew up watching one piece with my brother at 14 I haven’t realized Ive now been watching this show for 10 years. It’s definitely my comfort media in my adult life something always brings me comfort and happiness

Ive been watching one piece since 2008, and I’ve noticed that the one piece soundtrack is very distinct and super emotional-and I’ve definitely cried listening to the first opening before lol. it’s also wild because you mentioned the music right as I was thinking that you did a great job using it in your video!!

I find it crazy that you caught up with the series in only about 2-3 years! I’ve been consuming One Piece media for over 10 years and I’ve been caught up on the anime for many years but I only just got caught up with the manga this year on my Japan trip! I bought a lot of stuff at the Mugiwara Store in Tokyo 😂. Since the series has been such a large part of my life it gives me a sense of comfort and happiness and I’m very it has brought you lots of joy! Also jpop music is awesome I love Ado she’s amazing I also listen to Fuji Kaze, Yoasobi, and Atarashii Gakko give them a listen if you haven’t done so already! Wonderful video that you’ve made! ❤

one piece has done ....such a number on me LMAO i don't think i could ever really encapsulate it but i am going to try bc this video has found me WEAK and EMOTIONAL!!!! i started one piece in late 2023 and i was...mortified. i'd left my roots as an anime fan growing up and though i had enjoyed one or two since, i'd never confess to it. i'm autistic, queer etc, and so this shame of who i was had rooted into me. i was embarrassed of liking things deemed "cringe" so, of course, when my mom told me about this show she thought i'd LOVE, the one piece live action, i went into it grudgingly. and i fell in love! we swore we would only watch the anime to the end of arlong park, and then wait for the rest of the live action. needless to say that did NOT happen, and before long we were tearing through alabasta, skypiea, even the g-8 filler arc. i thought it was a fantastic story, with beautiful characters, fun villains, amazing powers and of course the perfect protagonist, the soon-to-be king of the pirates, monkey d luffy. but i refused to tell a SOUL. the water 7 saga did something IMMENSE to me. usopp and luffys grief, franky's struggle with guilt and self worth, robin's life. there is good reason enies lobby is often lauded as one of, if not the best arc, in the entire series. this arc was... a sort of release for me: a kid who grew up depressed, different, WRONG, even wanting to die myself. but it is not a crime to just exist. and so with tears in my eyes i pressed on, and i was never quite the same. i wasn't much for crying, but by the end of thriller bark i was crying like a baby for brook and his song. in march 2024, right before i hit the timeskip, all of my friends found out What I Was (a huge nerd). i'd told one friend in strict confidence, who revealed they also casually enjoyed one piece, and another who then told... another friend, who told our entire discord server of longtime friends! it was funny, but i was still embarrassed. my options were shut down, or suck it up and be open about it. and one piece taught me better than to hide from what i love! then i got a dm from someone i rarely spoke to, despite knowing them for years. they just said "my sister wants to know if the one piece is real." and i, awkwardly, began to explain the lore. a week later they started the manga and i was... electrified. they tore through it and eventually passed me in dressrosa. i destroyed my sleep schedule, talking to them until 3 knowing i'd be up at 6 the next morning, and it was all so, so worth it. i started writing more fiction, started drawing again after thinking i'd never have the energy to pick up a pencil again. i dragged countless friends and family members into one piece, countless more by osmosis or proximity, and all of them who enjoyed it have, even in small ways, had their lives impacted by this story. i suppose it's just one of those things. luffy is ultimate joy, freedom incarnate. his love of life is infectious, and when i struggle to feel it for myself i think of him and his nakama. one piece is silly, ridiculous, even obnoxious to some but it is transcendent. i regret not one of the hours i have poured into this story, and i'll line my walls with posters and physical volumes and figurines until the day i die as far as i'm concerned !!!!!!!!!! right now, i'm watching thriller bark with another friend, and just like mid-2024 im now up until 3am every night with them, and there has been such a tangible shift in our relationship. one piece is freeing, i believe. it brings people together. so yeah if you ask me what one piece means to me i probably wont say all of this (although i might, i'm a yapper) but i will tell you one piece is a romance of life. it has made me laugh and cry and both at the same time, made me feel seen in places i didn't know i'd hidden, and it has given my love of art back to me when i thought i'd lost it for good. so maybe this long ass essay i've written is excessive, i don't care. i am young, still in high school, and yet this series has had so profound an impact on me i'm almost certain i'll carry it for my entire life. even if i don't, i will always have these amazing memories. and memories mean a lot, just like one piece says!! so, if for whatever reason you've made it to the end of this and you haven't seen one piece, go check it out NOW!!! most of it is on netflix, it's on amazon prime (though i dont recommend prime for later arcs, there's episodes out of order), crunchyroll (although i hear they're upping subscription prices, and all i'm saying is that one piece is about pirates so 🏴‍☠🏴‍☠yohoho watchcartoononline and its offshoots are great) a viz subscription to read official versions of the manga is fairly cheap iirc and the latest three issues are always free, and volumes are about $15-20 apiece, but there's plenty of unofficial sites that work just fine if you have an adblocker. we're in the final saga of the story now, but there's plenty of time to catch up before luffy becomes king of the pirates! don't wait! one piece could be for you! apologies for the one piece dissertation

I've just started taking Japanese a few weeks ago on Duo after doing Spanish for a couple of years. I could feel that I wasn't l going to learn it this way. I was like, I need some mnemonics. Hopped on ye olde Google and found the Tofugu workbooks for hiragana and Katakana. (THESE ARE FREE) I printed out the hiragana one last week and learned it in 2 days. I'm going to do the same with katakana soon. I'm also supplementing with Memrise, which focuses on praises more than Duo. I'm also making Anki vocab cards. It's going well so far!

I've been a one piece fan since it came to the United States in 1999. I watched the East Blue arc as a kid on Saturday mornings. Then as I started to get busier (my parents wanted me to do things besides watch TV) I fell off one piece and didn't pick it back up for a long time. Then in college I went through a phase where I tried to find the endings to all the shows I was into as a kid but never finished (Shaman King, Fighting Foodons, etc). But when I put on the "last" episode of one piece it wasn't a finale. That's when I realized that it wasn't over. I read the manga until I caught up (around the Paramount War) and I have been reading weekly since. Now One Piece holds a very dear place for me. When I read new chapters it gives me the feeling of nostalgia while also being something entirely new. It's a feeling that nothing else in my life right now can replicate. One Piece has been a constant in my life for a long time now. I know when it does eventually end will be a very difficult day for me.

i had foreknowledge of the series up thru ace in alabasta by 2007 due to 4KIDs, then that's where my friend found the re-dub airing on toonami. Blackbeard's speech in Jaya. that's what got him. after 2 years of convincing me from then on, i got hooked on the kpop-sounding opening themes. then i thought "why not watch the current episodes from here? i then witness the glory that is emporio ivankov. in a spring break 2010 binge in high school - that's where i watch like 32 episodes a day myself worth of Foxy/Water 7 all the way thru to Enies Lobby's climax. filler included. it's the best time of my life i had ever had, then Jet Gatling Gun happened, and my life is forever never the same. i love luffy, i love one piece

Just like many people here, my life had many changes and instabilities, but knowing that One Piece was always there while I was catching up and even now week-by-week or by watching other's reactions & reviews, gave my life some reliable relief. I'll definitely cry once it ends! What's your favorite arc? I assume it's WCI because of Sanji. Mine is Enies Lobby because of Robin (and Merry)! Robin's "I want to love! A funny common theme with a lot of people who get into OP that I've noticed is that they hear it get hyped, try it, and just think it's ok. Then put it down for a bit and just pick it up again one day for whatever reason, and then it's over for them. I guess there's something about it that makes it hard to stop thinking about, or something. Almost like you could call it the first symptom of the OP mind virus haha

I was going back and forth if I should read one piece since my exams were coming and soon the exams were cancelled because of the virus. That was the universe calling me😂😂

One Piece saved my life in too pany ways to count I started it back in 2012, i was like 11 i think. And was in a very bad state that's still lasting til today So finding this silly pirate adventure with this goofy rubber boy got me laughed to extent i couldn't imagine possible. I was legit surprised at how funny this whole journey was and before i realized i was completely nose diving into these characters lives and it became my whole new thing. Back then i didn't have friends, classic, and it took me a lot of courage to ask a classmate who i knew watched it too to discuss about it, and it automatically clicked and we were already sharing episodes and discussing pirates and stuff. Before I knew i found myself in a small community of like minded people and now i even get to go to their weddings and events. I'm always surprised that this was happening thanks to this one show. It's not always easy but atleast Luffy's charisma and contagious joy help heal every day.

Also really agree that the soundtrack isn't talked about enough. Now that I'm reading the manga I really love the drawings and I get emotional but I just know that I would be crying a lot more when adapted to the anim.

I love One Piece. It gives me similar vibes to Tolkien's Legendarium, although I am not able to explain why. I'm really happy, because recently - after more than one year of advertising OP to her - my friend started watching it and fell in love with its story and characters.
