The high speed of high-speed trains or the heavy loads of goods trains often push the infrastructure of the railways to its limits.
The infrastructure also includes the railway track, the rails. When new rails are laid or replaced, long rails are used. These are processed from short rails (between approx. 12m and 36m) to long rails with lengths of 360m or more in a stationary long rail welding plant.
