Camino Norte Day 36 Arzua to Lavacolla
In 2023, I walked from Irun to Villaviciosa on the Norte then cut over on the Camino Primitivo to Santiago. In September 2024 I picked back up from Villaviciosa with the goal of finishing the Norte in Santiago. In this video I cover the section from Arzua to Lavacolla an 18 mile slog through the mud and rain. What a wet day! But I was joined by lots of other people now that I have joined the Frances and there were lots of bars open and the scenery was very nice. If you like what you see in this video, please visit our channel for more than 120 videos including Caminos Frances, Finisterre and Primitivo, Backpacking, Day Hiking, Campground Reviews and more adventures from around the world and the US. @TheCidandBadgerita Happy Hiking!

Hello! How did you finish Camino Norte within 16 days? 🍻
Hi Andy: Sorry for any confusion. I did Irun to Villaviciosa in 21 days in 2023 before cutting off to do the entire Primitivo to Santiago. In 2024 I came back to "finish" the Norte in 16 more days starting back in Villaviciosa to Santiago then joined my wife in Astorga to re-walk the Frances from that point (we did the entire Frances in 2022). You can see my Norte and Primitivo hikes on our channel under the Norte and Primitivo playlists. Thanks for allowing me to clarify.
_The Camino Frances from Triacastela to Sarria is a beautiful and challenging trek. As you walk through lush forests, rolling hills, and charming villages, remember that each step brings you closer to your goal. Embrace the journey, savor the solitude, and find inspiration in the resilience of the pilgrims who have walked this path before you. Thank you for sharing this incredible adventure with us._ 👍❤
@@marukana_moto what beautiful words! We are quite spellbound with the path and planning our 6th Camino (Portuguese) in May! Happy Walking to you.
@@TheCidandBadgeritawe are going to do the Portugues route in May 2026 so if you post any videos it will be fun to watch. I’m really enjoying your Frances Camino.
@@marythereserenner1329 you are very kind especially given how "low tech" our videos are :) I'm finishing the last days of our Frances and also my Norte finish then yes, Portugal videos when we get back. We are so glad that you are enjoying the videos! Happy New Year!
Good stuff ;)
Nice share😊
Awesome😊
Picture is so good!
first time going , hope its like you showed , but i cant find any of the cabin views , rv camping is nice though , but i upgraded this year , i hope to see more , nice work :)
I think (and hope) you will really like the campground and state park. Should be beautiful this time of the year. We have been going there for years. Just posted our 100th video to our channel. Happy Camping and thanks for your comments.
On Wednesday, the 30th of August 2023, I was on day 5 of my Camino Francés. It was a wonderful experience, enjoying it so much that I am planning my next Camino on the Norte in the August of '25.
@@KiwiJohn1951 Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did. I’m going back to complete the Norte this fall.
Beautiful! This is the most detailed review of this campground that I’ve come across. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for your kind words! Campground reviews is a new segment of our channel that we intend to expand over time. Happy Camping!!
I think that is mostly Mt Meeker you see and a little tip of Longs Peak
I completely agree with you! Thanks for the clarification and happy hiking to you!
Hi, I've been enjoying all your walking videos! I'm interested in going some of the British walks that you've done. You've mentioned that you use a company for your bookings. Can you share which company that is? Also, I'd like to receive your travel documents that you mention but I'm a bit reluctant to post my email directly here in the comments. Is there any other way to contact you, facebook, instagram etc? Thanks!! Mike
Hi, Mike. I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos. I just completed the Camino Series after almost three months of off and on editing. You can PM me on Facebook: facebook.com/ken.john.37 and I'll be happy to give you me email via that connection and then provide you with any travel info that I have. For the England Trips (Coast to Coast, Cotswold Way and Hadrians Wall we used www.northwestwalks.co.uk/ They are a smaller company (husband and wife primarily) that lives and focuses on England. We have had great service from them, the accommodations they work with are great, and they are a bit less expensive than some of the bigger worldwide tour companies. Of course, we have only used them for self-guided logistical help (accommodations primarily). Hit me on FB and we can continue our conversation using email.
❤❤❤
Beautiful!
Thank you soooo much for sharing your video with us. I have visited Mueller several times and absolutely love that park. I strongly encourage you to please share more of your trips with us. I plan on subscribing to your channel. Thank care my friend!!!
Thanks for your kind words. We are going to add campground reviews to our hiking and walking adventure videos moving forward. Glad you enjoyed this one! Happy camping!
Thanks for sharing Ken. The walk is beautiful. Adversity, soul searching, brotherhood. Journey always, never the destination. Love it. 🚀🦅
❤❤❤❤
Beautiful you guys and…the music is exquisite..💓🙏🏼
Thanks, you are very kind.
Thank you very much for sharing this spectacular video!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Glad you enjoyed it. Plenty more videos from the Camino and other adventures on the channel if you want more. Happy Holidays.
❤❤🧡🧡💛💛💚💚💙💙💜💜🤎🤎🖤🖤🤍🤍💔💔What a wonderful sunrise!!
We hike here all the time.
Great all season hiking there!
We own property in Red Feather and spend many weekends there every summer. Nice view of the surrounding area and peaks. Great hike!
I agree, great hike. I also posted videos of the Mt. Margaret and Frog Lake hikes which I know you have probably done as well. Thanks for watching
BEAUTIFUL!! It’s breathtaking. And I absolutely love the music. ❤️🙏🏼
Steve, thanks for your kind words. They mean a great deal especially coming from a professional! Our hope in putting our videos out there is that people can be informed by them if they are going to do the same trip or that people simply get a bit of enjoyment from watching them. I'm glad you enjoyed this one and we are looking forward to seeing you guys this summer!
This was a great day in the mountains! A good time to climb the 3 bald mountains---before the deep snow arrives, but far enough into the fall that there was no one else on the trail or the road. During the summer, this can be a busy area with ATV's, dirt bikes and mountain bikes. We encountered no one. A nice quiet day in the woods with clear blue skies.
Beautiful you guys!
That’s an oldie! Glad you enjoyed it!
Ok those cats are creepy! Great video- beautiful scenery, great info
Good video but not views
Love the walks through town, landscapes and shorelines! Looks far easier than the CT. 😆
I just make it look easy :) Kidding of course. Yes much easier. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing your journey.
Good work flow Ken, I felt as though I was on the hike with you. Interesting concepts, hotel to hotel. I should like to try that someday. 🚀🦅
36 days in a row 500 plus miles 😎 Cushy?
Thanks! happy trails!
Nice video, I want to go hiking 🥾🥾
your video is very nice 😍
Thanks

Wowzers!! We live in such a gorgeous state! Did one of the marmots try to snuggle with you in your little tent?
Yes we do and those cute little marmots will chew the handles off your hiking poles for the salt if you leave them outside the tent :)
Looks like we need to get a camper! Loved see video of the boys and I can’t wait to meet them❤️
We would love to have you join us! This is something we have done all of our kid's lives and now with the grandkids. They love it! This was my first "campground review". The family camping video for Mueller is ua-cam.com/video/3JIM3MLqYiQ/v-deo.html if you didn't get to see it. More fun content of the boys! Thanks for watching :)
Such beautiful scenery. I’m so glad you guys had great weather for this trip😊
Just watched the whole series back to back. Great videos thanks, good relaxed style of delivery. Good luck on your future adventures 👍. Ian
Ian, thanks so much for your kind words. We have benefitted so much from watching other's videos that it's nice to give back in our very small way. Just got off the Colorado Trail backpacking and heading to Spain in a week to do the Norte and Primitivo Camino's. Happy Hiking and Walking to you!
A lovely slide show! Glad you included the creepy doll in the barn. Looks like you enjoyed many more wildflowers than we did when hiking the trail in March.
@clint5512, thank you for your kind words. We have since graduated to video's but it was nice to get some of our older adventures (just photos) into slideshow form. I would highly recommend England's Coast to Coast walk if you haven't done it and we just got back from doing Hadrian's Wall. The Camino Francis in Spain was another walk that you might enjoy. No creepy dolls in any of those though 😃
I've binged the Hadrian's Wall series already. That will be our next walk, I hope. Any tips on spots to stay or eat along the way?@@TheCidandBadgerita
@@Clint5512 We arranged our accommodations through a company we have used three times on England Walks--Northwest Walks. I have 3 word documents from that trip that you might find very useful in planning. One of them lists all of our accommodations. One is a travel planning guide they provided and the third is a trip planning guide that we put together as we were getting ready for the trip. Can I send those to you via email?
Those cows were rude 😂
Looks like you are having fun, especially at the pub! 😆 Got room for the Highland Way in 2024?!
Seems like a rather peaceful hike. I enjoy the history. Amazing the roadway traffic you hear. AT thru hikers have mentioned this about the AT as well.
The next few days on the trail (video's coming) are much more rural with much less car traffic and tons more wall and historic sites! Stay tuned.......
Subbed.
Excellent! Hadrian's series--Newcastle to Heddon-on-the-Wall video hopefully launching this evening. Thanks and enjoy!
How's the North? South is nice. Fingers crossed the thunderstorms stay out at night
North was nice as well. No views of the lake where we were but quiet and a good launching spot for area activities. We are already home and wish you a great rest of your time there!
@@TheCidandBadgerita thanks. Safe travels on your next trip
Looks good Ken! What a great day that was. 🥾🏔️🦅
Oh yeah!
Lovely hike today ❤
Well, thank you!
Gorgeous day for a hike!
Yes and no snakes!
Excellent presentation, thanks for sharing!! Can't wait to make same journey soon.
I hope you and J have a wonderful trip!
