Very helpful, thanks
Pretty straightforward lesson. Thank you!
So if I have it set to export for Instagram .. and I change for printing Do I have to change back settings everytime i want to send to light room
I start off I. Light room then finish in photoshop so just adjust in photoshop
Thank you very much indeed. It was a great help.!
Glad it helped!
Helpful Thanks a lot
Glad it helped mate
thanks a lot mate! can You advice me why does the option of selecting WEBP from the dropdown menu sometimes disappears ?
I'm not sure I understand. It should always be there if you click 'save as copy' if you click only 'save as' I don't think it shows all the file saving options. Hope that helps.
This was happening to me and I found an answer in a forum that says to convert the image mode to RGB, and it worked normally again. Hope it helps!
Cheers buddy really appreciate it. So used to exporting everything that I never thought to look in the "save as" function.
Glad I could help!
No_bullshit, straight to the point tutorial. Thank you!
Hahaha , Thanks glad it helped you
I loved this video but my issue is that it completely desaturated the image ?
More people They viewed, but they don't give it's right 😢
1. Image > Adjustments > Match colour > Select Neutralise > OK 2. Filter > Camera Raw Filter > Adjust Temperature and Tint to your needs.
Great quick tip man! Thanks for your comment 🙏🏼
thanks man, this helped me get something done
Glad I could help mate
You just made my evening so much better with this! Thank you for the perfect video!!
So glad it helped you ☺️
But you didnt switch to cmyk mode. is that normal?
Yes, as this is for Fine Art Photography Printing... CMYK generally used for large bulk run printing of brochures and pamphlets or other bulk run factory printing. Hope this helps 😃
Thanks for the tip!
Happy to help!
I thought the resolution was 300 and not 350
Correct the standard is 300ppi however sometimes it will natively come off the camera/DSLR at 240 or 350. Both of which are acceptable.
man the world use CM only northamerican use that measure
You are correct, the world does use cm/metric system in the majority of applications. However if you research the most common unit of dimensions internationally when it comes to fine art photography printing or fine art framing, you'll find it is inches. The most common of all, 4 x 6 inches, used in family albums.
@@goldcoastprints yes you are right 4 x 6 inches, used in family albums.
What if I want to add border? what if my aspect ratio isn't standard? Very lacking tutorial.
For varying borders, aspect ratios, trim lines and establishing guide marks etc. I would suggest an accredited university course. Not a 5minute UA-cam tutorial 🙏🏼. If we can help you or you're stuck with something just ask we're here to help.
why not save as PDF seeing as its not lossy?
You're correct PDF is also a good option to save the image in. This is mostly just a basic guide for resampling size and as long as it is exported from photoshop as a 'high quality' (maximum quality 12 setting) jpeg it is more than suitable for print. One of the biggest issues in file exports is photographers overlooking Lightrooms default export DPI of 72dpi. This is no where near enough for print. Anyways you're right pdf a viable solution as an image file. Many others as well. Have a great day ☺️
@@goldcoastprints thanks for providing this detail, have a good one yourself.
Excellent! Thank You sooooo much!!!
Glad it helped!
Top man, thank you very much.
Thanks glad it helped

Hello, I'm looking to sell my photos on Etsy. I'm not going to be printing out the prints, Etsy works with a 3rd party that does the printing. So I'm wondering, how should I save my pictures for the website? Because I know people will want all different sizes. Thank you.
In this circumstance everything comes down to who Etsy's print partner is. I just started selling my own shots (tropicalbeachprints) on Etsy as digital downloads as black and whites, not knowing how people will print them I found that a safe option. For more detailed colour prints, here at Gold coast prints, we resample (size) and optimize (ICC colour profile) for each specific size/paper situation.
you entirely skipped the ICC part
You're entirely correct. This video tutorial is just for resizing and resampling. ICC profiles and paper choice in videos coming soon. :)
if im working at 1/10 scale. does that mean i need to use 3500 dpi. or does that scale adjust for that as well?
I don't think I understand your question. In any case, the dpi setting for export remains the same for all print sizes, whether it is 12 x 18inch or 40 x 60inch (300dpi/350dpi is sufficient). No need to change it to 3500dpi. Please let me know if that makes sense.
Sir, i can’t find JPEG format on my computer :((
Sometimes it will only let you pick jpeg as a save file option if you click/choose 'save as copy' then upon choosing 'save as copy' you should have the option to choose jpeg as your file preference 🙏
Hey mate if someone ordered prints from you would you be able to do this for them if they send you the original photos ?
Yes of course. We can definitely help with that.
We have an upload section and notes for your requirements on the homepage of our website.
@@goldcoastprints ok nice mate 👌 could you plz send me a link ?
Bro your the goat
Happy it helped you mate 🙏 cheers for the kind words
i have learn something from your video
So glad it helped you mate 🙏
Hello. Is there a difference between "baseline standart, baseline optimized and progressive" for PRINT ? Which one is the best choise for printing?
There is a difference. However 'Baseline Standard' will work just fine for Photo printing.
I feel kinda screwed. I don't use Adobe Photoshop for my design work. Picsart is my main tool for graphic design and unfortunately, you can't adjust the DPI on that app. And it would make the quality any better if you first create a new document set on 300 dpi then import the image file from picsart. Damn 🤦🏻
It's an unfortunate situation you're in. I completely understand your frustrations as I've been in that same position. Unfortunately adobe has monopoly at the moment but surely it's only a matter of time before there's some reliable competition. The pricing is quite expensive.
Your demonstration has by far been the best I’ve seen thank you 🙏🏾
Thanks alot glad it helped 😀
Hey learned a lot quick question when I did a 20x30 print it came out great but when I tried to to a 11x16 and I punched the height in the second number didn’t automatically change to the width I needed how to I go about this ?
The most common ratio a photo/camera will take is 2:3 (20x30) if you're wanting to do a custom size that's different to your image ratio, you'll need to either crop (cut some of your image to suit the size you want) or add negative white space to it by entering a custom canvas size.
Great vid thankyou. You deal with enlarging an image size, but when reducing the size of an image which resizing option do you recommend? In my photoshop the alternatives appear to be "automatic" or "bicubic sharper" for reducing image size. Which one?
Bicubic sharper is a safe option most of the time
Excellent, you've cleared a lot up for me. Made it sound so easy. Thanks mate.
I’ve read that people export as png as it’s better for print is this true?
Generally, high quality Jpeg export or Tiff export are the most common for modern photo printing. However it depends on circumstances (printer, application/paper/medium.) Hope this helps.
thank you very much!!!
Glad it helped you mate 🤙🏼. Cheers, Troy
really helpful. thanks a bunch👌🏼
Glad it helped you mate. Have a great day/night wherever you are :)
Question: If I want to save an image that has an original size of 10x10” at a really high ppi/dpi so that it can be enlarged to different sizes by a reproduction company who prints my art, should I click the width and height to say pixels so that it allows them to choose the size on their end? They often print my art much much larger than the original. Like a 10x10 they’ll print at 36x36 or 40x40. Thanks so much for such a clearly explained tutorial on image sizing. So appreciated!!
Hey. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. I think the best thing to do would be to create an individual print ready file at 300dpi specifically for each size. (1 file for 36 x 36, 1 file for 40 x 40 etc.) just so they're all consistent.
Thanks mate
You're welcome mate. Thanks for watching
Great video. Easy to follow and helped.
Thank you so much! This is the most straight forward in easy to follow tutorial on this. AND IT WORKED!!! Thank you!!!!
Glad it helped you 😊
do i need to change color mode to cymk?
Depends what you're printing and with what machine/press you're using. For photo's to most labs RGB is sufficient. If you're doing many copies of something with a printing press company on a bulk run these machines mostly operate on CMYK. However...it depends.
what if i play with aspect ratio , i face stretching issue .. i have to make large banner size image but when i change image size with asoect ratio off , it always stretch my image details .. how to fix that without turning on aspect ratio
It sounds like your best option would be to resample/enlarge to the width of your banner in it's native aspect ratio then create a custom crop to suit your desired finished height size if that makes sense.
@@goldcoastprints let me try
Is this a good general size for sending to clients for print. Especially when I dont know what size they will be printing.
Best to share your image with clients at its native size. (The size/resolution it comes from the camera). Unless you know exact size they'd like to print, then this resizing method is fine to achieve their desired size. Provided it is a quality image.
@@goldcoastprints Can that be done in photoshop?
Thanks for this video! Cleared up my issues with resizing images
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks man. One question, how come you didn't switch to CMYK color mode?...
Hey Fel. You're welcome 😄. Glad you enjoyed the video. In short, Digital photographic printing -> rgb For a brochure or large quantity press style printing job -> cmyk If you research colour and digital print labs there's plenty of info in more detail :).
Needed this info lol. My teacher would’ve gotten mad at me
Why in my Photoshop Save as" don`t let me save it as a Jpeg? it only says other things like Pdf ,Pdd ,Psd,Tiff etc but nothing about Png or Jpeg
You should be able to select it from a drop down list 'save as file type' - then towards the bottom of the list of various file types there should be jpeg. If it's not coming up I'm sorry I'm not sure maybe enquire with Adobe/Photoshop help.
Hello, this is too late but it can help others. this happened because you are working with CMYK color mode. In CMYK you can't save a file as jpeg. Use RGB color mode instead. :)
