I don't know if you are reading any of your responses from older years, but just in case you do..... THANK YOU for this lovely Gem !!!!! This was the Greatest Video for me. I have been telling my son about Waterloo Village for decades. I grew up going to this fantastic Village, on school trips, several times during the 70's. It was nicely run with people dressed up as local colonial patrons. They each showed us about sheep wool and steering techniques; smelting metals, milking a cow, cloth making on a loom, honey retrieval, and on and on. So many memories of a wonderfully run village from possibly 1974 - 1978 (like I said, several trips). And that's coming from a Gal who grew up in Jersey City. It was all the complete opposite of what we lived everyday. It was all, simply Wonderful !!! At Waterloo, we were given tours of each of the buildings,, There was an OLD GRANDFATHER CLOCK sitting in the corner of a dining room in one of these outstanding buildings. I remember being so proud when one of the tour givers asked, "Who knows what's so different about this Grandfather Clock"? I proudly spoke up and said the Roman Number 4 was incorrect. Instead of it being the Roman Numeral IV it was IIII. She was rather astounded that I picked that oddity out. I explained that we were just taught about Roman Numerals at our "Bergen School" in Jersey City. Yes, a very small Private School that was around for about 125 years in Jersey City. I only mention this Incredible school because I was given an incredible opportunity beyond measure to have attended there for 13 years (1969 - 1982 Graduate High-School). So yes, we are planning to revisit this old great historical site come the end of November in honor of my 60th B-Day. Hopefully, the place is still there and there at least some of the old beauties still standing. Perhaps I can find a small tour of other interested parties. Do you have any insights? Right on Sir......so very well done. BTW - One of the old General Stores used to sell goodies for us kids as well as some antiques and local art. It was lovely. Cheers to you and your family for doing such an outstanding video. . Much Love - Kathryn

@@metrotrails2467 As you stated, I should speak with Andra Proctor.....will do as soon as I find out how to contact them. Hahahaha. In the meantime, I have noticed that you are a bit of an investigative type of person. Well, I need help. If you have read my complete comment just above, I mentioned "The Bergen School" of Jersey City. I happened to attend this Great School for 13 years - Kindergarten through 12th Grade Senior Year (1969 - 1982). Rather unheard of but truly I did a full 13 years at this most astonishing school that was not only known for it's high academia but also for its strength in arts and theater. OMG....... every year we we always attended some sort of theater as well as historical sights such as Waterloo Village. I could really use your help in getting some history on the Bergen School. I don't know if you would find this interesting or bizarre but I actually became a Womans Bobsleder up in Lake Placid, NY because I grew up at Coney Island. You see, Coney Island harbored not only 3 old wooden roller coasters but also and old wooden bobsled ride. Heck, I helped get the Chicks into the Winter Olympics. I attribute that to attending the Bergen School. Getting back to my original request,..... Would you please be interested in helping me research "The Bergen School" of Jersey City? There is an incredible history department at the Jersey City Library (Downtown, JC) that has a lovely 3rd-floor dept, with a whole ton of history. Sadly, they can't seem to help. They were only able to a few old yearbooks. I found this very distressing and odd, considering my Old Alramata's history and stature. Where were the artifacts and some photos......any photos? I am highly invested in this. I so look forward to hearing from you and would love to show you around Jersey City's neighborhood from a Gal who grew up there. Look forward to hearing from you and thank you for hearing me out. . - Cheers Kathryn

There's a girder bridge for the Massena (NY) Terminal Railroad. Most of the spans are steel, but one is aluminum. Why? Because at the terminus of the railroad is Alcoa. They made that span to prove that aluminum could be as strong as steel.

I know this trail well. At the Lower Kingtown Road junction is what looks like an old mill that was redone. That area is a superfund site and former DDT manufacturing site, kept open through WWII. The soil was remediated and the mill building, an historic linseed oil mfr., was repurposed to pump and treat contaminated groundwater. You can still see the monitoring and extraction wells along the road.

It was Black Powder that was loaded onto a Cargo Ship (renamed the USS INTREPID) in 1805 and sent full speed into the port of Tripoli.
