Experienced caravaners Kerry and Max, the owners of this ‘Big Roo’, wanted a caravan that would meet their specific needs for off-grid living and comfortable travel. Having previously owned three caravans, they had a list of desired features. They chose Wonder Roo as their caravan builder because we had the capability and willingness to accommodate all their requests.
Kerry and Max's custom-built Wonder Roo caravan is packed with features that cater to their desire for comfortable, extended off-grid living and enjoyable towing. Here's a breakdown of some key features:
𝗢𝗳𝗳-𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢: A 600 Ah lithium battery system paired with a 1400 W solar system ensures ample power for all their electrical needs while living off-grid.
𝘼𝙡𝙡-𝙀𝙡𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘 𝘼𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨:Kerry and Max chose all-electric appliances to eliminate reliance on gas. This includes two portable induction cooktops for flexible cooking both inside and outside the caravan, a 4-in-1 oven, and a dishwasher.
12-𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙩 𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙠: Their internet connectivity is provided by a 12-volt compatible Starlink system, further enhancing their off-grid capabilities.
𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙇𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙩: The layout of the van provides exceptional comfort and space, particularly in the evenings when they are relaxing inside.
𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡: A Truma Saphir reverse cycle air conditioner installed under the seat provides both heating and cooling, ensuring year-round comfort. An Eberspacher diesel heater further adds to the heating options.
𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙩: Kerry and Max opted for an OGP composting toilet for easy and odour-free waste management.
𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
𝙀𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧: The dishwasher uses only 7L of water per cycle, which is often less than handwashing dishes frequently, contributing to water conservation.
𝘼𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚: Three 110L fresh water tanks provide a total of 330L of fresh water capacity, including a dedicated drinking water tank. If needed, two fresh water tanks can be filled from a river or a dam, allowing for extended off-grid stays.
𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙮 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙏𝙖𝙣𝙠: The inclusion of a grey water tank ensures responsible disposal of wastewater.
𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴:
𝘼𝙞𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙜 𝙎𝙪𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣: The @CRUISEMASTERCOUNTRY ATX airbag suspension system enhances comfort and stability during off-road travel by absorbing shocks and adjusting to varying terrain, ensuring a smoother ride.
𝘼𝙙𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙎𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙠 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙨: Cruisemaster M60 - Adjustable 60mm monotube piggyback shock absorbers offer improved ride and control and can easily adjust to a softer or firmer ride.
𝘿𝙞𝙨𝙘 𝘽𝙧𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨: Cruisemaster hydraulic disc brakes ensure consistent performance, reduced braking distance, and superior safety, making them ideal for off-road travel where control and safety are paramount on rugged terrain.
𝘼𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙪𝙢 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙨: Lighter than traditional steel, aluminium chassis enhance fuel efficiency and reduce overall vehicle weight, improving performance.
𝙒𝙚𝙡𝙡-𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣: The caravan's overall balance contributes to a comfortable and stable towing experience.
