I grew up in Kingsport.Lived there for 47 years and I can tell you it was much better decades ago than it is today. These pictures make me long for the simple times of the past.😞
In the 80's, we used to drive down the hill from South High School and buy pot in Long Island. Local grown Mexican with Red Hairs. 🤤 Those were the days.
Thank you for a walk down memory lane. CrAzY cAt LaDy 😺
I walk the Long Island every night, whats left of it for the public. Its a special place
Jesus is the name of God and man . "Teaching them to observe ALL things whatever I have commanded you..".(mat 28:20) 1.new testament The Son said: "Father, glorify Your name!" Then a voice came from heaven: "I have glorified Him, and I will glorify Him again!" (John 12:28) 2. What is the Father's name and when will the Father's name be glorified? 3.The name of the Father and the Son is Jesus, and that name is glorified when miracles occur: John said to Jesus: "Teacher, we saw someone who was not our follower casting out demons in Your name, so we stopped that person, because he was not our follower." But Jesus said: "Don't stop him! For no one who has performed a MIRACLE in My name, that can lightly speak evil of Me" (Mark 9:38-39) 4.Jesus answered them: "I have told you this, but you do not believe; the WORKS that I do in My Father's NAME, these bear testimony about Me (John 10:25) 5. What WORKS did Jesus do? (and also the disciples )?? answer: miracles, namely healing, exorcism, etc. 6. THE MIRACLE WORKS were performed in whose name?? Answer: In the name of the Lord Jesus (Mark 9:39), which is the name of His Father (which is also the name of the Son) ...WORKS that I do in My Father's NAME.... 7. This means that the name of the Father and the Son is the same, speaking of name. However, the Father and the Son can be differentiated, namely: a.Jesus is the name of the Son/man: - born -prayed: "In His life as ahuman, He has offered prayer..." (Hebrews 5:7) b. Jesus is the name of the God /Father ,the Lord of heaven and earth (mat 11:25,acts 17:24,rev 17:14,joh 13:13) -a Spirit (John 4:24) -invisible (John 1:18) 8." I came in My Father's name and you did not receive Me; if another person came in his own name, you would receive him" (John 5:43) 9."Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be your name..deliver us from evil.....amen." (Matthew 6:9-13) 10. Studying the Bible doesn't just one verse, it doesn't stop at amen. But all the verses that Jesus said about prayers 11."ask the Father in my name" (John 15:16). Asking the Father means praying to the Lord Jesus, because: - The Father is the Lord (Matthew 11:25) - and there is only one God and one Lord (1 Corinthians 8:6, Revelation 17:14) That is why the Lord Jesus said: "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it" (John 14:14). 12. Who delivers us from evil? Jesus "Our Father who art in heaven...deliver us from evil" Paul said: "And the Lord will deliver me from every evil endeavor. He will save me, so that I will enter His kingdom in heaven." (2 Timothy 4:18) Kord=Kyurios Evil= ponerou. The Lord Paul refers to is definitely the Lord Jesus (Acts p.r 9:5, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 8:6). "..with all people in every place, who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and our Lord " (1 Corinthians 1:2 ) 13. We are kept saved and secured in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ "And I am no longer in the world, but they are still in the world, and I come to You. O holy Father, keep them in Your name..." (John 17:11) 14.saved by the name of the Lord Jesus " Neither is there salvation in any other : for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved "(acts 4:12) 15.The following three verses refer to the same Lord, i.e Jesus : a." That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved"(Rom 10:9) b." For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him "(Rom 10:12) c." For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"(Rom 10:13) 16.Stephen called upon the name of the Lord to be saved , example: "O Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (acts 7:59-60) Because that is the name of our Father in heaven.
I was born in Kingsport in the late '40s.. Went to high school at Lynn View in the mid 60's. Pals in Lynn Garden was a favorite eating place for lunch. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
How funny is it that my last name is Carter ...and I'm also a musician(even went to college on a music scholarship)...and I love the mountains and outdoors...but yet I'm not related to these fine folks...as far as I know

I'm proud to say I grew up in Long Island. The family's that lived there loved one another. It was a tight nit community that always looked out for their neighbors. My grandparents Luther and Blanch Dykes house can be seen in the photo of kids on the swing set along with my Aunt Betty Owen's house and beside her was my parents home Red and Hazel Dykes. We lived on Warrick Dr. Better known as 4th street. -Anna Dykes Crawford
I was just about to send you this link, Anna. It's Kym here. I remember when you and your family lived there and going with you to your house.
I love this photo of this lady that is first to appear after the horsemen. The pearls, which have a shimmer to them that suggests they are actual pearls, seem remarkably out of place. I'm glad everyone is entitled something that will allow them a feeling of pride, and dignity, when perhaps, the world seems stacked against them in an effort to rob them of any pride. My mother taught 4th grade at Long Island school for about 20 years, from 1955 until the school was closed. I, several times, went to her classroom for a day when the City Schools were out, but the county schools were doing snow day make-ups. I enjoyed making friends with the students in her classes. Well done Earl.
Hi Terry Jim Flanary here. I grew up on Long Island and had your mom as my teacher (mid 60s). She did very well with me. Thanks to teachers like her I went on to earn a BS, 2 military Masters Degrees and a Doctor of Law from UT. Also retired as a Colonel in the USAF with 31 years of service. Thank you for your service Mrs Ketron!!!
I was born on Long Island 7-5-41 between 2nd and 3rd st and damn proud of it.🗽👍
We are probably related...lol. My grandparents moved from Craker Neck, VA to Long Island. My mom told me some wild stories about it. I have a bunch of Wallen family.
That's my granddad George Boyd and his mom Pearl Boyd.
That is my mamaw Pearl Boyd .
Where are all the Black people at I don’t think they’re allowed🙁

MAGA 👍👍👍👍
1975 is the year the US was defeated in Vietnam; Nixon resigned in disgrace the year before; my father died of cancer that would have been cured today; a new car lasted 50,000 miles; we just got done with a decade of social unrest younger people have no idea how bad it was. America is greater today than back then, believe me, someone who lived through those times. Please don't fantasize about the past, these are the good old days now, cherish them, live in them and love your fellow countrymen, today.
While the internet is wonderful at times, social media has destroyed this world. People do not even know how to communicate face to face anymore. I am not even that old and I see it
There is something we need more today the simple joy of sitting in the front of the store just have a conversation with old friends. I would have liked to been able to live in that town and be able just to sit around and not talk about anything in particular but just enjoy the time with old friends. I can remember on Saturdays when we were kids my cousins and I would all meet at my one uncle's home because his brother my cousin father and the uncle that owned the house we would meet. They would do their Saturday shopping together. And their sister. My mom would just come for a visit and bring me to stay for a few hours so I could see and play with my cousins. Well after the brothers had finished the shopping we would fix dinner just us guys . Sometimes it was tv dinners or something like it since none of us were any cooks. But we didn't care about that . Then after dinner. My two uncle's would have coffee out on the front porch. And they had a old glider style swing us kids would sit on and it was just nice to sit as my uncle's would talk about different things or when they were growing up and some of the things they did because this was a big family my mom had eight brothers and one sister. So there was a lot of stories. And us kids just enjoyed sitting in that glider swinging and watching life go by on the front porch. I have so many good memories of those Saturdays it may sound like this was a long time ago. But it was the mid 70"s until my uncle's death in 1983. Right now I am 55 the same age as my uncle when he passed unexpectedly. At 55. He passed in September of 1983 he was going to retire in April of 1984 from his job that he worked at for 30 years. But unfortunately he did not get to enjoy his retirement. I was only 17 when he died I was the last to see him on the Saturday night which was three days before he passed. I was driving by then and my uncle and one cousin had already left to go home and I was last to leave I was going to start school that coming Monday and my uncle knew how I felt about going back to school after summer vacation well he razed me a little just in fun saying back to school and I can remember how I said oh I know summer over. But we talked for a few minutes more then I had to go home I can still remember backing out of driveway as my uncle stood there and all I was thinking about how was looking forward to next Saturday when I could come back over. That was my last Saturday seeing my uncle. Even though it will be 40 years next September 13 th. To this day it still affects me. I would imagine many of the young kids that had the opportunity to visit this store and be around these men as they spoke of nothing in particular but just being there around them probably have such strong memories of these times that meant so much to a part of growing up . And would imagine to this day although it's been 47 years can probably remember as if it just happened yesterday.
The most refined, you will ever meet. Refined- "free from impurities of(this tainted, complicated world. Intelligently, brilliantly Simple- "uncomplicated, without much decoration,or ornamentation". Refined, yes to their purest nature.
Wow. Just wow!
This is unbelievably fantastic art worth of hundreds of thousands of views. Damn.
Not the most refined people!
Dead-wrong. These are exquisitely refined people.
@@wallybeep It's easy to tell, by the triple x, calle means they don't look woke. I imagine every one of these people know more about history than calle could begin to understand. I'm sure have more common sense, also.
@@swmovan The “woke”? Hey, this coming from a classically liberal gay man: the “woke” are lunatics too lazy to think through that they are lending themselves to a neo-Marxist movement that is as rotten as it possible to be - and even more dangerous. This history? This history is damn important. Those who don’t spend the time to understand it? They are utterly rudderless in a dangerous and complex world. They also need to get off the front pages so the rest of us can do the real work of saving civilization. They are a miserable lot in every way.
NICE VISIT THANK YOU !!!
The only true way to be baptized.
Wow beautiful photos
Janette told me in 1969 she planned to have a place. She was cooking at shoneys and playing some at gatlinburg when i talked to her.
I was born in Kingsport, most of my family still lives there and I get to visit, I know exactly where these places are! Thank you for the video, I enjoy seeing pictures of “home”!
Thank you for sharing a great video. I moved to the United States from Japan in 1979 and spent about three months based in Virginia that studying music. We rented our own car and arrived at the Hiltons and had a good time. The wonderful performances of Bill Monroe and his Bluegrass Boys, Tex Logan, Pete Rowan, Lamar Grier, Barry Mitterhoff , McClain Family and Whites and the audience were able to touch your personality. I have special memories of Joe and Janette, and I will never forget your kindness.
Hope we never forget
Beautiful photos of the balloon festival. Wow! Grand!
