r410a is already getting phased out.. You want to make your system use r454b .. to make it future proof.

@@calholli future proof my ass. Even R32 would have more universal compatibility, but that's not long for this world either.

@@realSamAndrew R454b is like 70% R32.. But anyway, we can only see where it's going in the near future and what will likely be available in the next 10 years or so-- when you may want to fix your system. If you try to extrapolate further than that, it's just a guess.. there's no telling what other regulation they are going to dream up next.

@@calholli you missed the point. R32 is more universal than R454B. 454B was created from R32, but they had to tweak it so they could patent it. But there is already talk about those being stopgaps only and they will be phased out too. There is no such thing as future proof when there is too much money to be made by constantly changing standards. They learned this from the computer industry and cell phone industry. You wanna buy a brand new 2g StarTac phone? They sold for like $1500 new. Inflation adjusted probably like $3500 today. Now you probably couldn't give one away. When they came out with the iPhone BlackBerry was the thing. Where are they? When they came out with the iPhone 6s, your 4 was trash. Today a 6s would be laughed at. I could go on...

How do you reset an old American Standard thermostat? All mine has is up and down button. A dollar sign symbol button ($) A filter button. Fan button. And a mode button. I need to stop the filter light from blinking. We changed the filter and it still is blinking. I can’t find ANY videos on this thermostat. I’m in the HVAC industry and am still puzzled with this one here!

AMERICAN STANDARD-> It’s stupid to have to manually switch to emergency heat when outdoor gets into teens. You should be able to set a trigger point then let the controller turn it on when temps get below that point.

This control can also be used to suffocate you while your asleep. It can be used to kill you. And right before the coroner shows up it can be turned down. I learned this from a supervisor at work. It was his toy. He would make us burn and freeze within seconds. He enjoyed it. When I passed out on the store floor and the paramedics was standing over me he was casually sipping on a slurpy. My temperature was hot to the touch.

He didn't say anything about whether the indoor unit is rated for 410a refrigerant and led the viewer to assume that is not an important factor, which of course it is.

you have to understand the inside air handler r22 in the house has a expansion valve to do this properly you have to replace the expansion valve to a 410a expansion valve flush the lines and then you can make it work
