The fact that the Bereans searched the Scriptures (OT) is NOT a proof-text for their Bible-alone practice, and is instead the opposite. Yes certainly, the Bereans searched the Scriptures (a very worthy practice indeed!). But so did the Thessalonians. But look what the Bereans did NEXT. Unlike the Thessalonians who stuck to their "Bible-alone", the Bereans did the OPPOSITE to "Bible-alone". They accepted the Oral teaching of the Church through St Paul IN ADDITION to their Bible, they got baptized, and they submitted to the Church as their Final Authority. The Bereans were the Catholics, because their authority-paradigm was the Catholic paradigm: Written Tradition(Scripture), Oral Tradition, and Church as Final Authority.

You can clearly tell that this video was made in context as an awakening call to believers with respect to the context of the text in the Bible where the Bereans were mentioned in Acts 17:11. Shaul (Paul) taught both in Thessalonica and in Beroea. Of course, in both cases, some believed, but some did not. Now, Shaul mentions that the Bereans were MORE noble or NOBLER. From this, we can understand that the Thessalonians were noble too. How were the Bereans nobler? He compared attitude to the reception of the word of both parties (stress on the line ...attitude to the reception of the word ). He talked about the readiness of mind of the Bereans to hear what Shaul had to say. Clearly, one can argue that not all the people of the city of Beroea came with the readiness of mind because not all the Bereans believed in the teachings of Shaul. Granted! However, the focus is more on those Bereans who came with readiness of mind and were eager to hear Shaul. These Bereans did not just take Shaul's word for it because he is Shaul, but examined daily what he taught to see if they were true. This is worth emulating as taught in this video. This NEVER meant to ''drag'' the Thessalonians in the ''mud'' because they were noble too. Obviously, it cannot be said that ALL ''The Bereans were the Catholics, because their authority-paradigm was the Catholic paradigm: Written Tradition(Scripture), Oral Tradition, and Church as Final Authority.'' If some went the other way, the focus is on the good side as the scripture mentions in 3 John 11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. This response is not to say anything bad about your comment, but to highlight the intent of the video from a context. NT Scripture tells us those Bereans who were noble-minded came to submit to an authority paradigm of: written tradition (scripture), oral tradition, and Church as Final Authority. The Bereans were not Bible-alone practitioners as the Protestants are.

I was a christian, born and raised as one but for some years now, I'm not praying but try to do what is right and everything is moving excellent. Many contradictions in the Bible. Some of it quotations means nothing, some of them are lies and some has no meaning.
