2015 Chevy Equinox – Wet front passenger side floor mat due to clogged drain line
This is an easy fix. The only difficulty, as I explained in the video, is reaching the drain line but with some patience you can do it. Good luck!

Thanks for the video, it helped me to locate it on my step daughter's 2015 Equinox. It was clogged as well with 3 bugs. So what I did to try to keep that from happening again, I located some fine mesh and zip tied a piece of it to the end of the drain tube, i left it loose like a bag, it should work like a strainer hopefully there is no debris coming out from within. I'll just be checking it periodically. Thanks, maybe that will helo someone or if you know of a better material to out at the tip, let us or let me know. Again thanks for your video👍👍
How did the bug get in there? It crawled!😀
A dang beetle caused mine…thanks for this!
Me and my no longer wet floor board appreciate your video so much! Thanks!
Thank you!
Super clutch thanks a ton. Probably saved me a $200 trip to the mechanic
My shop does this for free
I just did this. Amazing. Task was done in about 2 minutes. Thank you so much for this video. It was very helpful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is my car right now. It started dripping last week, but now, when I turn, it pours out and the dash makes a gurgling noise 😮
How did the bug get in there?
Very helpful thanks (:
Thanks for this. Mine was a big as well!
Man, thank you for the info! Way better than these “mechanics” that I found on UA-cam
I also have an equinox, but my leak is coming from the driver side door, like water is leaking out of the bottom of the door. Could this also be my problem or is my problem likely from a clog in a different drain tube?
My good brother a Big Thank you. I thought it was a heater core leak until I felt it drip cold on my hand under the dash passenger side. I thought, If it was a heater core leak it would have dripped hot with engine running. So I did some research and found your video. Popped the plug and Niagara Falls came pouring out the drain hole. Their was sludge blocking the drain plug. Cleaned it out and popped it back on and so far... NO LEAKS! Thank you sir!
That water keeps burning my blower motor, will be fixing it this weekend
Thank you very much!!
Bingo! Great video! I was able to sneak through the spot by the A-C lines and access the drain cap (no it wasn't easy) and pop it off.
Awesome thanks
This was awesome, it wasn’t the removable part of the drain, but I poked a bamboo skewer in the actual drain and all the water came out, thank you for the video!!
Could it also get onto the driver side as well as the passenger side?
Thanks so much!
Anyone know were i can get the drain plug mine is missing (gm part number or link) and i heard that at speed the wind can blow the water back in
Thank you Dan, I hate to think what this might have cost to have a mechanic do the work.. I have painted it white in case this ever happens again. Thanks again, Steve
Ugh I have a 2013 equinox, with the same problem, obviously...and it looks difficult to get to. I tried to look for it and can't even see it. I'm short lol. Used a flash light and climbed the best I could on the car... Maybe my husband can get to it or... Guess I gotta lose money at the auto shop.😭
Hopefully you fixed it by now. I literally got a stepstool climbed on top of motor with a light & wouldn't you know low & behold I saw the same exact drain plug in video that he was holding in hand its exactly where he points to its on the engind fire wall. I pulled off & so much water came out. Huge relief! Anyone know where this water is coming from?
Je viens d'avoir le même problème. Il y avait un insecte qui obstruait le conduit. Content d'avoir vu cette video. Merci pour l'information.
You are the Man!!!! Just followed your instructions and Viola!!! You saved me Money!!! Thanks to the Upmost!!!
Thanks so much for posting. Fixed my wife’s 2015 GMC Terrain. Worked like a charm.
Thanks man! Just what I needed.
Checkin in Dan I'm having the same issue brother great video new to the channel just subbed
my 2013 Equinox same issue I found drain...didn't have to take the cover off but It was tight. The hose on my car had almost a 90 degree bend in it and some debris clogged the top. When I took it off water did drain so hopefully it's fixed. Thanks for the video.
Yes it did...no problem since.
This helped me tremendously I was finally able to find the drain tube … the only thing is you could have mentioned the engine cover screw is a T30 , thank you so much for posting
How did the bug getting there 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
How did the bug get in there?😁
Thanks! I have the same kind of chevy and same year, and had the same issue.
Thanks for taking the time to share this I had this happen to me years ago after having my air conditioner fixed, what a mess it made
I cleaned it and still leaking inside
What did u do to fix it
I wish it was a bug for me, but it's plugged up somewhere further inside 😑
Same here, either that or the plastic housing in the cabin is cracked.
I did this on a 2015 and it solved the problem! It was literally a bug that was in the drain plug!!
This is exactly what happened to us. A bug! Saved us a trip to the shop! Thank you thank you thank you!
Wow! This was exactly the problem and mine was june bugs also. Thanks!
Da Bears....Ditka....Sausage...
