Thanks Elmo, this is a true labor of love . For the great music of our lifetime and for each other

Our concept is to take music we appreciate and expose it to people who may have never heard it or forgot it amongst the deluge of music released over our lifetime. I found this long while searching for some of Alberts early work as I am a big fan of Mr. Lee. I viewed it on UA-cam in a performance from the Old Grey Whistle Stop and imediately thought it would be a great song for our humble picnic performance. Here in the states H,H and F didn’t receive much airplay so I had never heard of them prior to my search. I was utterly impressed by their obvious love of music and democratic approach to allowing all members to shine. That main guitar riff is so cool that I instantly knew our whole group would love doing the song. The wry humor of the lyrics tickled me as well. My deepest condolences on your loss of Ray. May your memories of him sustain you through troubled times and please accept my gratitude to you for sharing Ray with the world. I know it is not easy being a spouse of a musician. You must be a very unselfish lady and for that I applaud you. Thanks for commenting and may Ray rest in peace.

@@headshandsandfeet9373 I am a big fan of Country Boy and each of the atrists that cover it. I fronted a Country band in various forms from 1980 till about 2015 so most of my performing days. What did Ray do following the end of H,H and F?

@@MarkBaker56 He continued composing , The band got together again and went to Milan to record the Something album with Shirley Bassey , And then went over to the States and recorded an Album with Don Everly Sunset Towers , Also did an album with Jerry Lee Lewis , Rory Gallagher and Albert Lee.When Don and Phil got the Everly Brothers back on the road again they wanted Ray to join the band . But Rays heart was all ways in composing . So he continued to write till he passed 2 years ago.

@@neighborhoodpicnic2022 Dang! Best cover of CB ever! Might be better than the rebirth of CB Bobby Caldwell put together for a tour back in 2020 I think that went on tour...Singer really puts heart into it! Amazing playing, all of you! God Speed to all of you!

Thanks so much Paul. You should be very proud of your Dads work. I discovered the Old Grey Whistle Stop preformance of Warming Up the Band while researching some of Albert Lee’s early work. I immediately popped in my head as a great tune to start our annual picnic project that year. Thanks for your comment. Many of the songs we choose are in hopes of introducing folks to something they may have forgotten or have never heard before. Check out Sausalito Summer Nights, our cover of a Diesel tune. That one was a song none of us had heard before and like your Dad’s song was a ton of fun to perform.

@ Thanks for your generous reply Mark - I have been spreading the word in the UK about ‘The Neighbourhood Picnic Band’ in-fact I’d love to see you guys performing live next time I’m in the USA if that is possible 🇺🇸 There is a song on the ‘Tracks’ LP (track 6) called ‘Hot Property’……it was also recorded by Chris Farlow, but you guys would absolutely nail it if you ever performed it! 🎸 *Interesting Fact about the ‘Tracks’ album is that it was actually placed into Elvis Presley’s hand in 1972 (while he was in Las Vegas, by the Heads, Hands & Feet Manager) - I wonder if Elvis listened to it or even had intentions to maybe record one of the songs?? Thanks Greg. We are fortunate To have several front man quality vocalist, allowing us to cover a pretty wide variety of bands from various genres. Some of us have been in Beatles tribute bands, Rush tribute bands, Punky bands, even classic and current Country bands. This pooling of influences and the shear love of music makes this a labor of love. Another factor may be that after these one off live presentations we choose all different songs for the following years performance. By consequance the material doesn’t get old and stale for the musicians as often 3: 3:59 3:59 3:59 3:59 3:59 happens with the repetitive nature of “Cover Bands”. I know where you are coming from as I try to see local acts as often as possible. Most are Covers and Tributes. I hope we dispelled some of your opinions on Cover bands and I invite you to check out our archived annual performances. Thanks for your interest.
