My "father" absolutely hates this movie and for whatever reason let me know every chance it was mentioned on the TV. Why? He never said. But it's mildest of many reasons I don't consider him family and why I love this movie even more than I might have normally.

Even though this is arguably one of the best animated films ever produced there's one thought that always kinda bugs me about it, with the absolute arsenal that this robot has built into his body, why didn't he at least try just shooting the missile down

I'm usually not the biggest fan of casting celebrities in animated films (I think it's too gimmicky and makes the films a little dated at times) but I will acknowledge when a character is perfectly casted like Robin Williams in Aladdin; This film everyone is perfectly casted and I love all their performances. John Mahoney, Harry Connick, Jr., Christopher McDonald, Jennifer Aniston and Vin Diesel all brought something to these roles that made them feel really genuine

i was 8 when i first watched this, and mansley yelling "launch the missile now" was the first time in my childhood i legimately got angry at someone in a movie

R.I.P. John Mahoney, voice of general Rogard; one of his most underrated performances.

Mansley was not seen again for the rest of the film. Whatever happened to him after the Giant sacrificed himself?

Very subtle but at 2:56, as you watch the explosion fade from orange to blue, the aftershocks sound exactly like a beating heart slowing down and stopping.

As a computer-generated character, the Iron Giant stands out in this otherwise traditionally animated film.

Why not evacuate?

this was not the best scene this was the most beautiful and saddest scene in this movie and it's a dam shame it only ever won one award ....even if it also used the greatest E.T line for it's best scene
