I'm 64, and I've been rollerblading 2 weeks, with a total of about 3 or 4 hours of skating time. The first day was a little scary, but it got better after that. It feels a lot like the ice skating I did as a kid. I haven't used the heel brake at all, and I don't like T-stop. Since I don't skate very fast, just doing a little spin is all I need to stop. I got it down by starting with doing bigge...

40 is young! Maybe you could start with somebody beside you to help with your balance, until you can do it by yourself.
