Recipe Card:
Ingredients:
Green Chillies - 100 gm
Shallots - 10 small size
Cumin Seeds - 1TBSP
Turmeric Powder - 1TBSP
Coriander Powder - 1TBSP
Garlic- 8 Cloves
Ginger - 2 inches
Galangal - 5 CM
Oil
Water
Bay Leaves - 3
Lemon Grass Stalk - 3
Chicken - 600 gm
Coconut Milk - 100 ML
Palm Sugar - 2 Cubes
Salt to taste
Method:
1)Make a rendang paste first, Add green chillies(You can also use red chillies), shallots, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, coriander powder ,Garlic, Ginger, Galangal, and one cup of water OR as required to make a paste.
2)Now blend it together and keep it aside.
3)Next, take a pot. Add oil, Add your rendang paste, add quarter cup water and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
4)Add bay leaves and give it a mix. Let it cook for 2-3 mins
5)Add lemon grass stalks and stir it again.
6)Add chicken and mix it, make sure to cover your chicken with the paste properly so it can absorb all the flavours while cooking
7)Let it cook on low/medium heat until chicken is half cooked.
8)Add coconut milk and give it a stir. Next add palm sugar and salt. Give it a good mix.
9)Now let it simmer on low heat until sauce reduces and thickens.
10)Your delicious, flavourful, Spicy, tender Indonesian Chicken Rendang is ready to serve with rice!

      Yes, you can. They are all very easy recipes to follow and does not contain any alcohol. Even the blue Curaçao we used was non-alcoholic. 😊

    I understand the similarity but it's weird for us brazilians for you to call it "Empanadas". In portuguese, "Empanado"/"Empanada" Is what you guys call Breaded beef / chicken. In SPANISH SPEAKING countries, then yes, Empanada is quite like what Pastel is. Oh and the plural is "Pastéis".

    Sebenarnya beef rendang the best nya,,,, please try bakso telur and bakso daging, sambal matah, sambal dabu dabu,sambal uleg Jawa cabe,bawang merah,terasi di goreng semua lalu di kasih gula merah dan chicken powder dan di ulek..try gado- gado,pecel sayur,sayur asam,lodeh,peyek kacang,gulai ikan,gulai daging dan gulai ayam,ayam bakar Padang,ayam pop,daging semur,lapis daging dll

    Brazilian pastel are very similar to fried empanadas, but I guess it's totally wrong to say it this way because they both had quite different origins: pastel was invented by Japanese immigrants. They were trying to make gyoza or something like that with with local ingredients (pastel dough has cachaça). This is not the story of south american empanadas

    Hello. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! I made it today. I did not have Malaysian curry powder, so I substituted it with chicken stew curry powder. The dish was heavenly but it was really too spicy for me. I will definitely make it again but next time, I will perhaps use only half tbsp of red chilli powder. I suppose the red chilli powder is not the same everywhere, and maybe mine was much hotter. Thank you again. Definitely recommend this recipe 10/10

      Most Asian supermarkets have em, adabi meat curry powder is the one I always use is adabi curry and meat powder
