84 Honda V30 Magna Carb Removal
Переглядів 39 тис.10 років тому
the engineering of the frame for this frame on this bike made working on it a bear. However with some muscle and a (thankfully) resilient flexible plastic air box cover, I was able to do it.
be real carefull to get the float height right before you remount the carbs as if you set to 7.3mm as the manual says they will flood into your cylinders. Best to rest them in the v space and connect them to the fuel supply and crank the motor till the fuel bowls are full. Check for leaks and check that fuel is not overflowing down the throat of the carb. That will save the hideous task of remounting again and again. I set my floats to 8mm.
you slide the filter unit forward, and pull it out the left side. then you can easily remove the top without all that stress.
Don't you own a hammer?
Dont DO it like that
Maybe u should not even be working on the bike and take it to somebody. Looks like u have no idea wtf ur doing buddy
Fakest video on the internet
Take out the middle part of the air cleaner first
Every local mechanic quoted me ridiculous amounts to clean carbs, one guy said it'd be "$1,500 at least". Thanks man, I'll be doing this myself once my kit arrives.
💕💕
Some bright idiot got this hose clamp on backwards 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ HOW !?!?
I saw from your other vids that your in NY, I am too, can I email you about carb work? I might need a hand on mine.
Nice little tractor
U did a good job . I couldn't figure how to get the top off air box ... Then I found your video And I best the shit out of it.... If u can't remove the seat... That was pretty good... 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks a lot brother for the video. This video is going to help out a lot in the future. 👍👍👌🏼👌🏼
Lmao 😂🤣😂 that hammer... Thanks for the video
This video saved my life last night.
Thanks for the video, Man :-) Did you ever post the video of you putting them back? Did it all work out okay?
Cliff Smith no I didn't, but it was easier than taking it apart.
Okay thanks.
Caption at the bottom... "Will generate 4 megawatts of power. Enough to power 25% of the county." Broome county only consumes 16 megawatts of power?? Just think that estimate is kind of low. Goudey Station made 136 megawatts before it was put out of business in 2010. The recently decommissioned natural gas generator in the 1st ward generated 47.7 megawatts. I mean, more power to you if this works (was that a pun?). I would be happy to buy into it if I can. Just think our little county is more power hungry than you think.
Scott9084 I'm not 100% sure on the point your trying to get at. Reguardless I looked back at some of the articles I gathered my information from and I think I did make a pretty large mistake. The article from Broome county said solar is expected to power 25% of the county. The way it reads is a little ambiguous but an additional read through and I now believe it means solar in general...not this particular farm. Apologies for my mistake.
Yes, just watch your video from about 13 seconds in. A bold claim is implied at least.... Twenty acres of solar panels will provide one-quarter of Broome County's power needs? Not trying to be hostile or snarky. I'm behind your efforts. Amazon's Jeff Bezos was approached, recently, about the future of nuclear fusion (as opposed to current fission). His reply was to the effect that we already have a huge fusion reactor called the Sun. My wife might be talking to you sometime as she wants panels in our back yard. Just skeptical about four megawatts and the county's total power consumption.
Scott9084 yeah you're totally right. See, I'm just a guy with a drone and thought it would be a cool opportunity to use it and spread some information about this but I was definitely wrong with my interpretation of an article I read. I'm in support of solar but am not nearly informed enough myself to inform anyone else about it.
I'm sorry, it may have been Elon Musk and not Jeff Bezos who said our Sun is our best, current fusion reactor going. I may be getting my billionaires mixed up. Musk is not as rich, but he is much more interesting.
Scott Saunders I <3 Elon Musk.
Good job. Thanks
nice job but made me cringe when you beat the shit out of your air filter box
Big help just traded my shot gun for a 1985 v30 carbs are dirty bike sat for a year they need cleaning
helped me a shit ton thanks man
Glad the damage is minimal! Be careful next time :)
400ft thanks I will :)
Good video, I'm gonna try it on my v45, It seems like it relatively the same, did you post the installation of the carb?
Daniel Mason no I didn't. It's the same thing in reverse the only hard part was getting it to fit back in the rubber boots.
Do you know if this would be the same for a 1985 v45??
You actually remove the bottom section of the air box first, and replace in reverse order. It is very simple this way, trust me. ;)
I just did this for the first time on my 1984 v30 magna, and although it's been said before, you gotta pull out the center section of the air box first. There are two bolts on the left hand side of the frame that you can remove to drop a small piece of metal, and that will allow you to remove the center piece easily. Just two extra bolts and no hammer needed.

Any chance you could link a pic of those bolts?
THIS SHOULD BE STICKIED! Or added to your description... 1. Remove upper airbox bolts. 2. Lift upper airbox, remove CENTER SECTION with air filter. 3. Remove upper airbox. Takes about 3 minutes, and no banging on shit.
+True Reality That's what my thought was but there is no room to lift the top half off even 1/4 inch to get past the groove that holds them in place.
...and yet you mashed it out the end with a hammer without destroying it..
thank you for your time in doing this video.. going to attack my bike tomorrow :)
before you take the air box lid off. take the middle piece out first. much much easer.
Is putting it back in pretty much the same or is it harder?
I found putting it back easier. just do the same thing in reverse
Cleaning wise was it very hard? What materials did u need..gaskets floats etc?
I actually gave it to a buddy to clean out because he died it for a living. I gave him $50. I figured I could learn how but I'd just do it right.
Next time slide the centre of the air box out first instead of beating on the top
Do what ya gotta do!
i like your attitude man, cant find a vid make your own. just knowing someone else is going through this shit makes it easier for others to try. nice vid homie.
***** thanks! it was a lot of crossed fingers and learn as you go.
I have a honda sabre v65 i think it would be easier to drop the engine off the frame
No tenes ni idea de como se saca el filtro de aire!!! Saca este video que lo unico que logras es que la gente rompa su moto.
I had an issue getting the top of the air box off all the way, ended up getting the air filter area pulled out sideways then the top of the air box off. Not only do we have the same bike, but that tackle box looks mighty similar to mine as well! Haha. Good video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the vid.. I have a 84 Honda Interceptor 700 that sat too long and the low speed jets are all clogged.. so I'll be doing pretty much the same thing except the airbox is simple due to the lack of the single frame tube.
I just bought this bike and I'm doing the same thing but also replacing 2nd gear and the counter. Any tips?
kool i got a 84 magna 2 add me on FB killzfast tartsah needham
