Cider, bread, cheese and onions. Food of champions. Big love from Taunton
Tis lovely my lovely!
Greetings from Watchet.
There is nothing on earth like Somerset scrumpy, 1 pint and you're anybody's, 2 pints and you won't remember anything!!.
I've lived in Somerset for 31 years. I still haven't picked up the accent 😂😂
The hard cider guy has the most American sounding English accent. He pronounces hard r's like an American.
Where is the tree at @00.26?
It's the tree on top of Burrow Hill, at the Burrow Hill Cider Farm, in Kingsbury Episcopi
Somerset, best county in England. 👍
Any relation to Julian, of Somerset Cider Brandy fame?
Yep
in welsh gwlad yr haf, summer country
I work in Bristol but have always lived in North-East Somerset, and yeah it's a really amazing place to be. I'm not that close to Glastonbury, a good thirty minutes away, but have spent a lot of time there as my father was in a nursing home there before he passed. I miss him a lot, but wouldn't have had it any other way. If you've never been, it's worth spending time there at least once. Thanks for making this video.
So this is uk’s equivalent of rednecks huh
Ohhh this made my heart sing 🥰
I am.from France and VERY FOND of Somerset ( Winsford) I dream.of living there
We get lots of floods here
I dream of living in France especially in the south
@@queenbean7071 sorry for floods and big rains! yes I heard these events happened on the news
@@Lee-ii9mk its true that here you have plenty of sun /wines/ cheese/ old roman churches & abbayes...and very mild winter weather .
@isabelleparrot8204 yeah it's weird though We easily get to little or too much rain All over the place really
My great-grandmother was a war bride in WWII who moved to the U.S. Her mother's family was just about entirely from Merriott, so that's my distant connection to this lovely countryside
My Mum and Dad lived in Merriott and my Daughter spent a lot of her childhood there, Lots of happy memories 🙂
what Tolkien wrote about
I have been exploring my genealogy & recently discovered my ancestors left Somerset in the 1600’s for America. Now I am looking to learn more about their home and where I came from ❤ Thank you for sharing!
I live in Somerset born and bred, where abouts did they come from? I’ll help you if I can.
Wonder I'd this may be related to the Monmouth rebellion
My ancestor as well! Richard Sawtell left Aller Somersetshire in 1636.
Mine, as well. I was just visiting still standing ancestral homes from the mid 1600s in Massachusetts. Back then, it must have felt as though they were traveling to Mars: no known society, no establishments or towns, and you probably would never come home again.
Yeah but ..No but 😊
love to see some move vids, wonderfal stuff!
Lol this is so British brilliant work why didn't you make more
2:13 i swear its richard hammond's dad. they both have the same general appearance and same mannerisms when they speak
Stowell bloodline here😁Emigrated in 1634 to U.S.A.Thank you for making this video🥰♥️
Richard Sawtell, 1636. You got me by 2 years!
John Balch heritage, here. 1623 from Somerset, England.
😁 . Congratulations you win🎉😊
What’s that Irish bloke doing in there?
Have you never heard of summerset
Just traced my ancestors moved from here to Wyoming lol
Braintree = Quincy (1583?-1646) Henry Adams from Somerset, England.
My mate Murray lives in Taunton.
That's right, Mr Numpton! Glorious country.
My ancestors came from Priddy in Somerset. They emigrated to upstate NY in the 1850s. Hello!
Priddy is a lovely, unique place.
I’m in the Merchant Navy. Born is Somerset, lived most of my life in TA4. Travelled the world. Love coming home. A beautiful film that captures the essence of the county.
Rip Mike, gone but never forgotten.
@ft997 sad to say he has
Only just heard, Mike has died, how sad RIP
I'd love to see a documentary just on Roger Wilkins. Love the accent and the stories 😊 EDIT: Nevermind, I see Roger has already made his mark on UA-cam 😂

It's weird how Somerset accents vary from place to place. I'm from north Somerset, while this video isn't gibberish I find it fascinating how different it is to my accent. I also think it might be a generation thing as well.
I am North Somerset as well!😊
yes, youtube and tv/movies have resulted in dreadful homogenization of dialect
Yer old boy thur ooh liked iz zyderr... e knows wher e's to.... other ones not so much
Somerset rocks been there 25 years best country side
Mike is our friend! :)
Oh god I am glad I left Somerset, life in the Zzzz lane.
Life in the right lane
I just traced my family to here, before John Balch founded Salem, and his kids started calling people witches.... lol true story.
Born and raised in Somerset me.
@Yanks & Brits depends where you go Not sure if you still need this advice tho The villages can get extremely expensive, with some being some of the most expensive outside of London The towns and larger villages are more affordable, with the cheapest most likely Bridgwater though I can't confirm that.
I can confirm that bridgwater is currently the cheapest. There's an interestingly big gap between rent price and sale price in Somerset compared to other Counties in the south west though, not quite sure why because lots of historical farmland is now being developed into housing estates.
I’m from Somerset 💚 Grew up on the outskirts of Taunton & went to school in Wellington. I’ve lived in other parts of the UK & travelled much of the world. Now I live in Australia, but I miss Somerset a lot, the beautiful hills & the lovely, down to earth people. 🥰 My mum was buried in one of those eco coffins!
