FYI: The title made me go in to watch the video but the thumbnail had no relation to ma3. Good video, thanks a lot
Hello and thanks for the videos! What is the best method for multiple Artnet Nodes in the network?
Hi, I really appreciated you taking the time to create this video. I'm having a very difficult time recreating your results. I'm getting a fly out instead of fly in effect. So I'm trying to change everything I can think of. Personally, I found myself wishing your video consistently showing ALL of the encoder bar so I can verify I've properly selected/set everything. Typing in a number in a dialog box isn't as important as making sure you had all of the right things set so you pressed the right button to get that dialog would be more helpful. For instance, it took me a few minutes to get to the right place to enter the measure, width, and transition. Looking forward to future videos! Also I really liked how you explained having the different widths and transitions to get the variation between dimmer and tilt conceptually.
Hey! We appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and provide such detailed feedback. We're always looking for ways to improve our tutorials, so your suggestions about showing the full encoder bar are really valuable. We'll definitely try to incorporate that in future videos. If you're still having trouble getting the fly-in effect, please reach out to us at academy@lightology.net.au. We're happy to help you get it working!

The BEST explanation of how phasers work I have seen, very useful! And great editing on the video! Had spent a lot of time understanding the phaser by myself, just couldn't know why they put step 1 in the center rather than step 2.
Thanks for watching! We're so happy to hear that the video was helpful. If you have any other questions or video requests, let us know!

Dear Maybe it is a stupid question. Which software are u using @0:53 at the middle screen ?
Hey there, that's a great question! The software you're looking for is called Cue Points. You can download it here: cuepoints.com/
Very concise and great video! I really liked the small explanations (e.g. the select all steps button). You fit everything one needs to know 👍
Hey, we appreciate the love! So glad you liked the video. Keep an eye out - we've got some awesome new videos on the way, including more Phaser Reconstructions coming at you soon!
how can ı do pan fly out? thank youu 🙏
Thanks for the great suggestion! We'll definitely make a video to show you how it's done. Stay tuned!
Can you make a video explaining how you group multi instance fixtures? Especially with reference to the selection grid.
Sure, Thanks for the great suggestion! New videos are coming soon!
@@lightologyau I laid out some color strike Ms as the main fixture, then the plate and beam separate, and then the plate and grid as I arranged them in the selection grid. Not sure if there is an easier method or not. Maybe I’m doing too much?
@@DJGarrettEbs Creating these grids can be approached in a few different ways. We're actually working on a video that explores various methods and some of our workflows for fixtures with multiple levels. It'll be out soon, so keep an eye out!
thank youu🙏🙏
You're very welcome! We're thrilled you found our video helpful. If you have any more questions or suggestions for future videos, feel free to let us know!
I have a question. How can I use the setup I prepared for other scenes? Example (color palette)
@@burakklcan558 That's a great question! if you are just get started with presets and cues, you might find our online course helpful. It has step-by-step episodes on those topics and more. Check it out here: www.lightologyacademy.net.au/
Does mirror apply without adding a phase? I thought with a matricks you had to add a phase before they applied but it looks like in this video it applies before you do 0 through 90.
That's a Great idea for a video! And yes, you can apply the Mirror Transform without adding a Phase. As a quick example: imagine you've got a group of lights fanned out using the Align function. If you set the transform mode to "Mirror" and then check the "Invert X" option, your "fan out" will instantly become a "fan in" !
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!
Thank you so much! We truly appreciate your support.
I was panicking earlier when I couldn’t get a phaser to stop from tracking

Brilliant effect at the end of video, huge thanx!
Thanks a bunch! More Phaser videos are on their way. Keep an eye out! 😉
Great Explanation. How will the workflow change when you start to assign MaTicks to the phaser? That always confuses my bpm
Hey! Thanks for the comment, That's a fantastic question! It's generally a good practice to maintain a 1:1 ratio between speed and your phasers. In our workflow, we typically avoid adjusting the speed directly within the MA Tricks layer. Instead, we link our Phasers to the Speed 1 Master. Currently, in version 2.0.2.0, there is interaction between the speed settings in the Encoder Bar and the MA Tricks Editor, which can be a bit confusing. To keep things simple, try sticking to the "SpeedMaster" attribute in the phase layer. This should be less confusing for you. Let us know if you have any other questions!
How many parameters are enabled on a grandMA3 Light console when it is operated in Mode 3 with software version 1.7 or higher?
With the release of grandMA 3 Version 1.7, The parameter count was increased to the following: • grandMA3 full-size - 12,288 --> 20,480 • grandMA3 light - 8,192 --> 16,384 • grandMA3 compact - 4,096 --> 8,192 • grandMA3 onPC command wing - 2,048 --> 4,096 Follow this link : www.malighting.com/files/malighting/user_upload/Stories/grandMA3/grandMA3_SW/MA_grandMA3_Parameter_comparison_2022-03.pdf For the official document from MA Lighting about the upgrade.
First of all, thank you for making this. I find there are so many things in MA3 Phasers that do not come inherently to me unlike in MA2 effects. In this video at one point you mentioned for step 1, you added a width of 160 only for the tilt, why? I mean not so much you need to answer that specific question, it's more how am I supposed to know that when sitting down on the console? Is there any video you know of that goes threw step by step about what each tool in the phaser window is used for and why they would be used? MA and ACT seem to have no interest in making anything available and it's just crazy to me since phasers are one of the biggest changes in the MA universe.
You're absolutely right, adjusting to the Phaser workflow can definitely be challenging! And we appreciate your question and feedback - it's exactly this kind of engagement that's inspired us to start creating more targeted tutorial videos based on what the UA-cam community wants to know, including the Phaser Toolbar. We understand that the limited official training materials can be frustrating. MA3 is a vast and rapidly evolving software, and producing high-quality, accurate content takes time. This might be one reason why there isn't as much official content as we'd like. While MA Lighting and their distributors are always the most reliable source of information, we're happy to share our knowledge and experience too! If you have any more questions, we'd love to hear from you at academy@lightology.net.au.

NICEEE
You look a little like Conor Mcgregor, nice video btw
You think so? 🤔 - Thanks for supporting our Channel!
Can you make more in-depth tutorials on phasers, timecoding etc on the Grandma3 computer version?
Hi! Thanks for supporting our Channel - Yes we can, New Longer format episodes coming soon!
Cool !!!!
It is so helpful I wish you could have made a longer video and explained it precisely.
Thanks for your comment! - We have heard you Fam, and we have longer videos coming to the channel this year!
Great video! thanks for sharing. I have a question, is possible to stop a phaser in the last step? To stop the loop. Thx anyway!
Thanks for your comment!, Unfortunately as of V2.x.x.x there is not currently a tool that would act as a "One Shot" Hopefully that feature is not too far away!
the title is TO STOMP OR NOT TO STOMP......can u tell us WHEN TO STOMP and WHEN NOT TO STOMP please?
Sure! thats a great question, A good example of when you would need to use stomp is if you are trying to use a preset to replace a phaser in a cue that does not share the same attributes that are currently in your phaser.. In your workflow, it's always best practice to try use presets that can contain the attribute data you are working with, this way you might find you will only need to use stomp as a last resort.
This channel is so good. Quick demos and explanations of very very useful MA3 features.
Thanks! We are so appreciative of the support from everyone,
Great explanation and right to the point.
Thanks! - We are working on new videos for features added in Version 2, Let us know if there are any topics you want us to cover!
Great video 😁
Thanks! Your Deadzone video rocks. 🔥
I know that may sounds weird but.. really appreciate you tuning down on the gesturing in this video (: As always great content, thanks you very much!
We really appreciate the support! UA-cam and being on-camera is a whole new adventure, and we're so grateful for the community's encouragement as we grow.
What happened witht the rest of the tutorial??😅
Hi Alexander, Thanks for your Sub! - This video and more full length videos are available over at www.lightologyacademy.net.au/p/grandma3-core-concepts
👍👍👍👍👍
This was a great video! TY. I am a not traditional student and just finished my Adv Lighting class. Our final was programming the MA3 console to a song of our choosing. The Prof just wanted to see us be able to program some simple cues/phasers to the song. There were a few students who had prev MA 2 experience and had some great shows. I understand basic phasers but have so many questions! This was a great explanation of how to get the lights to create this look. I found myself wondering if a idea I have is more of a cue to cue, or if its a phaser effect. Maybe how to get the moving lights to do what I want them to do. Anyways, this was a great vid. TY
Congratulations on finishing your Class!, When you have time put your other questions in a comment below, that will really help us build more content that will help you become the best grandMA programmer you can be! - and don't forget to share you pre-viz work with us so we can support your work too!
I’m having problems understanding why this is a better solution than just updating the cue entirely with the desired position without any phaser. What is especially confusing me is why you only used half the selection in this example (in cue 3). Also, why did you choose "add new content?" I tested this out on my own and achieved the desired result using "original content only."
Hi! Great question! Stomp isn't better, just a different approach to working with your cue and tracking data. Use Stomp to clear lingering values when needed, then when you update - Choosing 'Original Content Only' or 'Add New Content' based on whether you want to change your data from earlier cues or just the current one.
Here I go thinking that I know everything about a stomp, but I had no clue about Add New Content! Thank you, again!
You're Welcome! - Thanks for watching our Content!
This is such an excellent explanation of measure and why its such a breakthrough with MA3. Thanks so much!
You're very welcome!
1:12. EDIT to load the cue back to programmer.....can u please tell us more about this function?
Sure, That's a great Idea - New episodes are coming every month!
Thanks a lot, thats what i am really needed
Glad it helped
This is a great explanation on the concept.
Thanks! Let us know which other concepts and features you want us to cover on the channel!
Great video! Makes me hate Art-net just a little less
Awesome! We are glad our video could help you!
Great video! Keep these coming
We have more videos coming all year!
Why using Dummy channels . Can you make a video
Sure thing, We would be happy to do that for you.
This is the best explanation of this feature that I have seen. To top it off, assigning an alignment to the transition is brilliant.
Hey Kevin, Thanks for the great feedback! Now that we all have v2, we have more episodes coming that take a closer look into how we are using phasers.
Looking forward to future videos!
Thanks! We have many more exciting videos planned for the year
Thanks for the video, I have a question. I have an onpc command wing set up and I want to add a separate line in artnet tab but the buttons aren’t visible. Also the New artnet data below the line is not existing. Do you know what’s going on ? I I probably missing something.
You're welcome! Can you let us know which software version you are using?
