Hi Chaps, being a massive Saab fan, currently on my 5th - an 08 Ttid Aero Sportwagon (love it!), it was great to come across your channel. Looking forward to following your adventures in what has to be one of the best but seriously underrated car brands out there. Well done on reviving a great car.
Owned a saab 9-3 a few years ago and loved it, same engine as this but mapped to around 200bhp. Never liked the cup holders......I now own a vauxhall monaro and it has the same cup holders 😂😂 Been looking at getting another saab, maybe the convertible in petrol ❤
Good content guys, I look forward to seeing more stuff!
Great vid! Rest of the Europe is super jelous for prices cars in UK are being sold...until the point when we see insurance rates on these haha. Great job! Keep posting!!!!
Thank you so much! Great to hear you enjoyed the vid!
Had a 2.8 V6 convertible and loved it sold it to start a wedding car company which has now finished , now own a 2010 9-3 ttdi 160 bhp which is great and only £35 tax my only wish is it's a manual which isn't the best and I think the Powered power characteristic would have suited an auto box better. Really enjoyed your video well done 👏
an interesting thing about these is how many organizations use them. the police and the MI6. at least in the Bond films. its cool to see the middle class sector driving a vehicle that the wealthy also drive. its a very high class line no matter what year or who's driving. older ones look just as classy as new.
Just about to pick up my 2006 V8, 120,000 miles. I previously owned the straight 6 model.
I recently brought a 06 M57 L322, absolutely love it. They have so much character and a dream to drive
Only thing with an estate car as an option, you can't get them in a 6 or 7 seat option
Had a few range rovers, always older models, starting with 3.5 v8 classic so truly hooked. Just bought my 2nd L322 which is an 05 3.0ltr diesel. Absolutely love it in spite of the fuel consumption, which is way better than my 14mpg petrol v8 l322, so average 23 mpg is great. Great vid - thanks 👍🏻
Yes. It is the best Range ever 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👌🏼👌🏼😊😊
I love the M57 and actually also own a e61 535d alongside the L322. Both cars have been looked after by previous owners. The RR has 310000km's and the BMW is getting close to 400k without any major issues. The biggest advantage of the L322 with the TD6, is the fact that parts are inexpensive and widely available if something does go wrong. Also, the early pre facelift cars have gracefully aged into modern classics Every iteration of the l322 after that just lookjs like an afterthought.
I wouldn’t buy an electric car personally but I didn’t think the battery degradation issue was as bad as you described it? Lots of high mileage Teslas on the road?
When I bought mine a few years ago the V8 twin turbo diesel was the one the specialist had least concernes about. I’ve had a few predicatable things which would have been much less pricey if I hadn’t gone to Newbury 4x4 who way overcharge, but no show stoppers … and having just brought this thing up from the paddocks today after pulling a barn down and carrying all of the necessary gear in white leather comfort … it’s the best car I’ve ever bought next to my S1 Lotus Elise. That has done 1 thing brilliantly for 25 years now … this just does every single thing I need superbly. 👍
I'm near Newbury and about to pick up an L322, who do you use for servicing and work if not Newbury 4x4?
@@cccxindustryupdate Hi, I haven't had to yet, but there are a few about. All I can tell you is that I'm still driving around with a squeaking serpentine belt which I never went in with, which has been off twice, and I gave up on going back again because of the atmosphere - the boss had to get them to take it back in the last time. They have charged me literally thousands, changed everything and not fixed a problem I didn't have before I went in. Choose anywhere else.
I got myself one just like yours 3years ago, same year same spec £1500 spent £360 on it, best weekender i've ever brought' cracking car.
The diesels are great indeed, that is until you start getting dpf clog ups due to regen problems. These diesels need to be driven hard once in a while to get the best out of them. Swirl flaps and Egr will be/can be a proper headache too which means removing the intake manifold and high pressure fuel pump. Ask me how I know. I own 2 of the blighters, a 9-3 ragtop and a 9-5 Sportwagon, both bloody diesels. Have actually driven that crazy road in to Aberystwyth from my home in Shropshire many times. Good vid lads and all the best for future content.
the 1.6 had 114bhp (118 for the eunos), the 1.8 had 128bhp (133 for the eunos), both cars have the same 0-60 times of 8.7 seconds as a result of a weight difference of around 60kg's and a lot of people seem to prefer the 1.6 cause its more free-revving.
Thank you so much for clearing that up! I love that 1.6 engine, so enjoyable to drive and get those rpm’s up 😝 We really hope you enjoyed the vid 😜
Enjoyed the video, very professional for a new channel. Subscribed.
Thank you so much mate! We really appreciate the support ❤️. Really hope we can keep the content fairly professional and productive 😂😂😂
Hey guys love this video... Back in August I was a bit stupid and bought a Vauxhall Vectra estate SRICDTI 1.9 On a 09 plate with tow bar as I previously owned a CDTI 1.9 With far more miles on the clock and it started my courier work so I loved it. However I then bought a Range Rover Vogue 55 plate its in very dark blue with two tone leather 3.0 BMW as you mentioned I still don't have trailer.. Going buy todays prices there cruel I obviously paid a bit too much £2700 I do love the car.. But you get a lot of car for this money.. Great video.
Thank you so much mate! Really appreciate the feedback! The Range Rover is just such a great all rounder! It’s so surprising how much you can spend on a trailer nowadays 😂
Miata was never meant to be a show car. It will always be a bundle of joy for anyone whos driving
They are so hard to beat when it comes to enjoyment! Thank you for watching the vid! Great to hear you enjoyed it 😝
@TheDrivingProject it's great actually since it's also my dream to host an auto show like the top gear someday but you really are mad underrated as two blokes with great humour and car knowledge
no comments!? I shall change that!!
no both the 4.2 supercharged and 5.0 are more reliable
The 5.0 supercharged has timing chain issues starting at 80,000 miles according to my Land Rover master tech.
Great vid lads . Always fancied one of those.
Thank you mate! Really appreciate the feedback! Great to hear you enjoyed it 😝
A truly green car, and not just in colour. Such a shame cars like this are being driven off the road to be replaced by overly complex cars which won't last anywhere near as long. Hope this one keeps going for a good while yet.
You can’t go wrong with them, efficient, plenty of space, drives well and will eat up the miles. New technology does bring some pretty cool stuff but these sorts of cars are still awesome!😝
I have the Scirocco Mk3 which is built on the Golf platform. 130k miles and cost me less than 2.5k. If you didn't know, you'd think the car has 30k miles on the clock with the way that it drives. Never missed a beat and never failed an MOT!
That sounds awesome! You really can’t beat these cars! Absolute workhorses 😝. Thank you for watching the vid! 😜
Had a silver 1.9tdi back in 2003 as a company car. Head lights were made from glass....yes GLASS 😮...when diesel was £0.74/ltr 😂
Haha 😂. Back when cars were built to last! If only the fuel was the same price as when the car was new! Thank you for watching 😝
I’ve had 2 and I’ve always regretted getting rid of them
Such great cars! Just a fantastic all rounder 😝
Wales has such fantastic scenery. Great video which proves that Saabs are still such good cars and amazing value for money now too!
Hands down one of the prettiest places in the world. We are so fortunate that we have such stunning scenery on our doorstep! They may not make them anymore but Saab's are still an amazing bit of kit!
Great video. That car looks a bargain at £500 and has cleaned up really well. I've had my convertible just over a year and love it.
Thank you so much! We got super lucky with this car and are so glad we saved it from the scrapman!
Great videos guys…. I hope you are enjoying the Saab convertible - I’ve had a 2005 and 2010 model in the past - fantastic cars. Now own four Saabs :-). Looking forward to your next trip and project.
Thank you so much! They are such great cars, shame they aren’t making them anymore! Really appreciate the support ❤️
You can buy dye for the roof, and then use fabsil after a few days to waterproof it.looks brand new afterwards, bargain price.
In my experience the BMW era L322 (TD6&4.4v8) are probably the most unreliable! The td6 gearbox is terrible!! And the electrical issues are a nightmare! The sweet spot is late 06 to 09 pre facelift! The 4.4 jaguar v8 is sublime! And the 3.6TDV8 is amazing when changing the oil every 5k or so to save the turbos! The facelift 09-12 in my opinion is a bit too much with its LED lights and TFT display! But that’s just my opinion and any L322 is far better than driving any boring Japanese 4x4 or soul destroying euro box!!!
We agree the facelifts are the ones to go for!😝 I guess everyone has different experiences with different engines/gearboxes 😂. Either way for the money it makes for an awesome vehicle! Really hope you enjoyed the vid 😜
Actually that was the first time I heard BMW engine was the best choice, according to my search 4.2SC and 4.4NA are the better choices for Petrol and 4.4TT for Diesel. The Fuel consumption is pretty eye watering though according to my own experience.🤣
2000.00 on a 50000.pound car.is not that bad.when new about 80:000. Think about it.
They really are great value for money if you find the right one! Really hope you enjoyed the vid 😜
Only car could be a volvo xc90 or a porsche cayenne that could come close to it
Both very good cars! Really hope you enjoyed the vid 😜
I'd say a Toyota Landcruiser 💯👊
@@jujitsusti7719 too boring compared to these cars mentioned
@@josephgittos3787 is more Reliable boring lol 🤷♂️ really capable off road too these will still be going when all them are at the road side 💯
@@jujitsusti7719 I actually find most Japanese cars boring or look like a boy racer designed it so find they dont age well , you will find some car designs designs age well take a old porsche or a classic merc , dont see many classic looking Japanese cars that look good with age, dont look at a Honda Civic and think wow that looks like a classy looking motor , and also interiors are the same . Dont get me wrong I would be all over a Japanese car for the reliability if they did a classy looking one
Range Rover L322 turbos are not a body off. They are a unibody. The range rover sport. Is a separate chassis. Get a V8 diesel and you will never look back.
That’s our bad! I think we just went on a bit of a rant about Land Rover’s in general 😂😂😂Hope you enjoyed the vid 😜
Great insight gents! For those in London, what’s the feeling about the ULEZ compliant petrol V8 version? 👍🏼
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the feedback!
I have one. Go for it, amazing car.
Nice to see someone saving a SAAB. I’ve been saving them for the last 6 years and have owned about 20. Currently have a 2005 9-3 SS Aero Hirsch 252 Turbo Performance on 167k, a 2008 9-3 SS Aero 2.8 V6 Sportwagon with 199k, a 2006 9-3 SS Aero convertible in Lime Green with 153k, and a 2011 9-3 SS Aero Tx Design on 157k. Can’t get enough of them, all petrols of course.
That’s some collection! Must look pretty good all lined up 😜. Really glad to hear you enjoyed the vid 😝
Great video! What next for the Saab?
Thank you so much! We’ll be passing on the Saab to its new owner and onto some new projects coming very soon!
thanks for saving a saab
No problems at all! Thank you for watching! Really hope you enjoyed the content 😝
Great videos chaps, please keep them coming 👍🏼 We have a 2007 93 Aero and the top down temperature threshold is 12degC -heater and seats up to max. Wind deflector deployed, you could easily go to single digits. 😃
Thank you so much mate! We really appreciate the support! Great to hear you’ve got one of these too! Haha 😂 we’re definitely more acclimatised to warmer temperatures 😂😂😂. We’ll see you in the next one 😜
You are very lucky, great car, just fun to have and drive! 😊
We agree! Absolutely fantastic car for the money! Really hope you enjoyed the video!😝
Great video lads, Saabs looking like an absolute minter, keep it up
Thank you so much! Awesome to hear you enjoyed the video! We were super happy with the car, turned out pretty good!
don't pressure wash the top.
Haha, yeah we may have been a little lazy with that 😂. Hope you enjoyed the first episode!
Good luck with the transformation guys - I am currently working through the refurbishment of my own 9-3 Convertible : seats have been out and the leather reconditioned and recoloured, roof cleaned and waterproofed and carpets cleaned and extracted. With the roof - very bad idea to use a jet-wash on it : can cause a lot of damage to the waterproof membrane. Just rinse off with a normal garden hose. For waterproofing use Fabsil Gold - it stinks, but does a great job and you can see the water beading on the surface. Like you guys, next up for me is new discs and pads all round. Looking forward to following your adventures with this one!
Thank you so much for watching! We were really impressed with our car, it’s held up so well considering the mileage! Really appreciate the tips for the roof! We hope your project goes well, sounds like you’ve given it some love ❤️. See you in the next episode 😝
Great video lads, just gained yourselfs a new sub
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the support! Great to hear you enjoyed the vid 😝. We’ll see you in the next one 😜
I just found this video on my homepage and since I’m a Swedish cargirl I just had to watch the video, I can’t wait for part 2!! Subscribed!☺️
Haha thank you so much! Great to hear you enjoyed the video! Next episode will be out next week 😝. Really appreciate the support ❤️
Incredible transformation, particularly the interior.
