Pre-Summit Day Mt Elbrus (Russia) - Breathtaking Scenery.
Переглядів 20 тис.14 років тому
This is some footage on the slopes of Mt Elbrus (Russia) the day before we went for the summit. There is some absolutely breathtaking scenery in the video of the surrounding white capped mountains that divide Russia and Georgia. I watch these video clips and it reminds me of just how beautiful some parts of the world are when you have the opportunity to really get out and explore. There is a pa...

Mt Elbrus (Russia) First Day - Beautiful, but Danergous Mountain!
Переглядів 23 тис.14 років тому
This was our first day on Mt Elbrus (Russia) before we went into some pre summit training. The mountain is so beautiful and it is surrounded by huge snow capped peaks. The mountain is also very dangerous, a climber died a couple of weeks before we arrived. The Southern Caucus area was unsettled due to attacks from extremists coming in from the Georgian border, so there were a lot of armed Russi...
Mountain madness on Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Funny!!!
Переглядів 11 тис.14 років тому
Some more high altitude comedy from Poff high on Mt Aconcagua (South America) at camp Nido de Condores at 5,500 metres. Poff has lost the plot again as he searches for some food to put in his bowel......in the end, I think I was looking good as his dinner.
Rock farming on Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Funny!!!
Переглядів 17 тис.14 років тому
This video shows again what we get up to with free time on our hands at Camp Canada at 4,900m. Poff thought that he would invent the character Ted Smith who is a rock farmer on Mt Aconcagua. Some high altitude comedy.
Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Camp Canada 2

Some fantastic video footage of Mt Aconcagua (South America) from Camp Canada (height of around 4,910m). You can hear the wind howling in the background during the filming. We were hit with wind of over 100km/h that night and our tent was lucky to survive the night.

Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Camp Confluensia

Confluensia is the first camp as you head up towards Plaza de Mulas. Confluensia is at an altitude of 3,400m and you usually spend a couple of night here before gaining more altitude.
Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Beautiful South Face
Переглядів 4,3 тис.14 років тому
We headed up from Confluensia for an acclimatisation day towards the South Face of Mt Aconcagua. What an amazing and breathtaking sight. The South Face of Mt Aconcagua rises pretty much straight up and is very rarely climbed due to the dangers. Poff was a little off colour on this day, but we would soon be both off colour with altitude sickness when we arrived at Plaza de Mulas in the next two ...
Mt Aconcagua (South America) - Plaza de Mulas Base Camp
Переглядів 2,5 тис.14 років тому
We were heading up to Camp Canada after a couple of days of pretty bad altitude sickness. We were feeling a lot stronger to start heading higher up to higher camps towards the summit at just under 23,000 feet.
Mt Ebrus (Russia) - Totally Mad Taking a Russian Snow Shower

These mountains and the ones in the Andes do not require oxygen. They are not high enough to burden climbers to climb with the extra gear/weight. Although Hypoxia and HAPE/HACE are not uncommon its not required to use oxygen at these altitues. 3 weeks seems like a normal time for this type of climb. I think in the video they said something like 2 weeks (I am guessing that is from base camp) I am thinking the 3 weeks was the entire time from when he left the airport. but it could be longer.

Absolutely amazing videography and editing, not to mention the stories of your crew. I'm sixteen now and my eighteen-year-old brother has recently become obsessed with climbing Denali with me by 2015. This was a great reminder of the intensity, the risks, but perhaps more importantly, the magnificence that drives the insane to climb it.

That is awesome. I agree with the man in the video....I wouldn't climb the south face not even for ten million. Unless I'm really prepared...and that's years and years of climbing other mountains...and still...it would be extremely dangerous and hard.
